  1. Never in a million years. After 3 hospitalizations my band was removed. As I write you today , I feel that I can barely swallow although the lap band is gone. My doctor tells me I will always have some restriction and I must wonder if I will ever feel normal again. I am seeing a throat specialist currently referred by my surgeon.

Hello. I forgot how to post this message so all that I can do is reply. SIne we were debanded about the same time I wanted to ask you if acid reflux is common after debanding. Was still having trouble after removal

I am sorry about you problems. I too lost my band after being hospitalized three times for inability to get most anything down, I pray that you will still reach your goals. If you get this email can you help me get this to the general public on lap band removal I have forgotten how to send a general email. I still feel tight and I still have spasms although it is out. I am wondering if this is normal. My doctor is aware of everything but I am still worried. Thanks Private Dancer7
  5. Can you tell me how long it took for you to get back to normal-eating and drinking? I too had a lot of scar tissue and I was told that that I have esophageal spasms. My band has been out for a week now Private Dancer Banded 3/21/08 Removed 8/05/08

no fill in band but everything is getting stuck

I just had my band removed after not being able to swallow solids and sometimes liquids on too many occasions over a five month period. I must say that the band removal surgery was really difficult for me and I still can not swallow the way I used to. My doctor said that there is a tremendous amount of scar tissue that has to be removed when the band is taken out and that thuis is a difficult and maybe dangerous procedure. Were any of you guys told this initially? I wonder if this has any residual effects on swallowing even though the band is gone.I just pray that I will be normal again. Private Dancer7

Is it a slip or just swollen?

I have been tight for 8 days. I am able to keep liquids down but I am tight most of the time. My doctor totally removed all liquid from the band 4 days ago. I have never vomited or felt that anything got stuck but I have had esophageal spasms twice(hospitialized twice) and was told on both occasions that the band was in the correct place. I was banded on March 21st 2008 and I am starting to think that the band is not for me. I have lost 25 pounds since March 21 but need to lose at least 50 more pounds. Any and all advice will be appreciated. Private Dancer Banded 3/21/08 Beginning weight 260 Current weight 235

    Esophageal Spasms

It's nice to know that it is just a phase. My doctor said that he has not seen spasms like this in lap band patients. I almost think that he wants to take it out if the spasms continue. By the way, he has an excellent reputation.

    Lap Band Complication

I have been reading this platform for months and find it very encouraging. I had the lap band done on March 21 and things went great until three days ago. I ate some mashed fried rice and a small muffin the next morning. By noon that day I could not eat or drink. The radiologist confirmed that it was an obstruction and within three hours I had an endoscopy. The endoscopy doctor said that he saw nothing there but my banddoctor believes that the rice really did the job. I am resting at home after being dismissed. I have to see the throat doctor because he feels that there is somthing going on-spasms-attributed to the esophageal problem that caused the whole thing. I would appreciate your response.
