  1. March surgery peeps! How is everyone doing?

I broke both of my feet and have been non-ambulatory, but I'm holding steady at 189. I'm hoping to get these darn casts off in a few weeks so I can get down another 10 or 15 (which is crazy, considering my ultimate goal weight was 200lbs - and now it's 175lbs). I'm sure it'll be hard with the holidays, but I'm trying!

Hope all of you are doing well! :)

Sending you positive healing energy. I see you perfectly healed!

    @@nearperfectmess, you look amazing!

  2. How did everyone do for thanksgiving? I did ok. Didn't have much of an appetite as I did all the cooking, baking, and ran around keeping my sister-in-law with special needs under control. I don't have the same relationship with food. I had a few bites and I was done. My weight slowed a bit (thinking work and relationship stress). At my 7 month checkup in October, my surgeon decided I needed adipex to jump start my weight (although 365 to 260 since January is awesome since I hadn't lost that much consistently before). After four pills, I decided to look at other things to jump start weight loss other than speed. I started losing again after I started visualization and meditation, taking Probiotics, adding heavy weight lifting, and eating more. I am now 100 lbs lost since surgery. Love you guys! post-269771-14802594986163_thumb.jpg

  3. The number on the scale is not the sole determinant of weight loss/health. I noticed my face, neck, and body slimming before I had major weight loss. There's been weeks where I did not lose a pound, but wore a smaller size. It easy to get obsessed with the scale, but remember the ultimate reason we chose to get surgery. I now have better sleep, breathing, I'm menstruating/ovulating every month, can walk up and down the stairs without an inhaler, etc.

  4. /I am about three months post op. I had stalls, or slow-going weight loss ( 1-2 lbs per week on average). Over the week or two, I found my weight and shape changing again. I attribute coming off a plateau to increasing my Protein, watching my fat intake, and increasing the vigor in my workouts. I do interval training on the track, treadmill, or elliptical. I also try switching my diet and exercise out every few weeks.

  5. Hey there! I went back on the 4th of April. I have a ton of energy (at least until TOM came) and feel great. I am now 55lbs from where I started on January 4th. I can walk up stairs without hyperventilating and can fit a size 20 dress and 22 pants without spandex! I would only weigh once a week. The scale can be addictive...other factors are how you feel, fit in your clothes, reduced joint pain, etc.

I have great news! After not having one for one year, I started my period! Yes I'm in pain and feel a bit weak, but I feel it's the right direction (pcos). Overall, surgery is the best decision I've made. Hope all is well for everyone else!

  7. I just found out my surgery date is April 28th. Am I suppu to be taking any Vitamins??

Sent from my 7040N using the BariatricPal App

Hey there! And congratulations! I would follow the doctor's preoperative instructions. My surgeon had me take Multivitamins, drink three Premier Protein drinks a day, and all the green veggies (steamed or cooked). However, each doctor is different.

  8. Ok. So I need to have a bottle to my lips all day.

Oh dear. I'm nervous about that! They want me to drink two 32-oz Gatorades (regular, not the G2) every day for the first week after surgery.
You should be fine. My mistake was I tried to gulp the two tablespoons of veggie broth, instead of sipping slowly.

Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

I hear that. I'm a gulper - and will surely need to SLOW down.

It's a process. You can do it.

  9. This is my seventh post op day. I'm feeling pretty good - not much pain at all. However, the one thing that IS a pain is trying to get all the liquids in! The nurse from the hospital called to check up on me and said if I get at least one 20-ounce bottle of the Isopure in a day that's pretty good. Anyone else having issues getting their fluids?

BTW - congrats to those that just had their surgery. I knew it would go well!

1st day post op. Miserable from two tablespoons of veggie broth, drinking since 645 this morning. But I will keep that in mind. I literally have to take ten every hour to get it down.

The very first sip I took from the little cup was a bit more than I should have tried. I threw it up. I know what I did wrong and it hasn't happened again! just pace yourself. By the time I finished ONE item on my Breakfast tray - the lunch tray arrived! Hang in there girl!

Will do. I do not like being this full! No nausea, just a feeling of being overfed. I will take it real slow.

Thanks, chica! The pain is beginning to dissipate. I started to walk around. It definitely helped having the binder on. I'm ready to go home now!

    A few tips:

    - follow directions!

    - trust your body

    - it's okay to ask for pain medicine, you do not get brownie points for taking pain. It only raises your blood pressure

    - do not try to overdo it!

    - walking helps with the gas pain

    - it's okay to hit the nurse button when you feel anything out of sorts, you are not bothering them

    - allow people to help you
