  1. Welcome! Dr. Wheeler is my Surgeon as well.

I'm from stl my sleeve date is feb 10... I'm with dr wheeler at DePaul Ssm weight loss institute! Congrats to you all!

Did u have surgery already??? If so how was it? I'm soooooooooooo nervous! you're the first person I share a surgeon with I'm so glad u responded!!

I had my surgery (Gastric Bypass and Hiatal Hernia repair) 12/18/14 at DePaul. I have surpassed my goal. In fact he wants me to gain weight back. But, that is a whole other issue for me that I am working on with myself, Dr. Wheeler, Nutritionist and Counselor. Sigh

Having said that, Dr. Wheeler is awesome! You will be very happy with him.

Wow that's great to hear!! U must have really been working hard if u lost too much weight!! Hopefully I can say I lost too much one day!! CONGRATS TO U!!!

  2. i knew a had to have a hiatal hernia repair during sleeve surgery. total surgery time sleeve with hernia repair was about 45min to an hr. It is very common for people to have them. as a patient you shouldn't feel anything different its just an extra step for the surgeon. i wouldn't worry about it. you will do great. good luck.

Wow that was very quick! I don't no why I thought it was way longer I've heard ppl say their surgery took up to 4 hrs! I've watched videos on YouTube and it looks fairly simple if everything goes as planned!

  3. I'm getting sleeved on February 10 and I have to get my hiatal hernia repaired during my sleeve and I wanna know what was recovery like... Was there a lot of pain did it effect your sleeve in any way? How long was your surgery? Etc? Any info will be helpful because I'm sooooo nervous now that I've been approved... I was so excited and anxious at first but now I'm second guessing but I think it's just all mental and nervousness!

  4. I have Aetna and I'm in Missouri and my policy said no net weight gain buuuuut at my very first weigh in my weight was recorded wrong they had me 35 lbs lighter then I actually was so by the end of my 6 months it looked like I gained 35lbs but it didn't get caught til after my documents was submitted for approval so my patient advocate was in the process of getting ready for an appeal because we thought it was gone be denied but I was approved in less then 24 hrs and my surgery date is February 10!!!

  5. I've heard about Dr. Scott a friend of mine had him, said he was very pleased and lost a lot too! I'm currently seeing Dr. Wheeler at DePaul Ssm weight loss institute I've had a good experience with him so far. I had my last appointment of the 6 month wait on 1/7/16 so I'm just waiting for submission and approval! Only problem is on my first initial appointment they recorded my weight wrong, they had me weighing about 35 lbs less then I actually did so it looks like I gained 35lbs in 6 weeks on paper! My insurance advocate said it won't be an issue but I think it will because my in my policy it says no net weight gain so now I'm just hoping and praying everything works in my favor and fast too because I'm ready to start this journey!!
