If you like visualization, try putting your face on a picture of the body you want. Post it where you will see it every morning to remind you of your goal. Make a goal poster of what things you want to achieve and keep it where you can see it every day. Take a picture of it and use it as wall paper on your phone. 7. I was pregnant when I met with the Dr to get into Options. After having my baby, my bmi when to to 38.
  8. Hi everyone! I'm excited for all of you. I just had my baby 4 days ago. Looking forward to life changing choices. I'm hoping to start the options classes in February. My birthday is on the 18th so... I can't wait to see what happens this year. How is everyone doing in their class? I'm going to the Fontana Kaiser. Hi, just an update. I'm no longer in the options classes after having taken the first 3. When I saw the Dr for the first meet and greet he said I should not have been allowed to start the process at all. Now I've been very depressed because I no longer qualify. Sent from my SM-N910T3 using the BariatricPal App
  9. @@morenita2013 This will be my 3rd Options class this week in Los Angeles. It's going okay. The only thing is that they say they want you to lose 10% of your weight by the time of surgery but then the dietician says don't make all of the changes at once. Take it slowly. I'm like which one! It will take me a long time to lose 10% as I started at 315. So that's 31lbs in 12 weeks+. I think the classes are helpful but a bit overwhelming at the same time. The changes are pretty drastic to what I'm used to. However, I'm really excited to move forward with everything. I really hope that the wait for surgery isn't too long. Which surgery are you having? I'm thinking sleeve but not 100%. I really wanted DS but Kaiser doesn't offer it. Hi, congratulations on being in the process for your surgery. Take it one step at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. I suggest that you choose one thing to focus on per week and add another thing the next week. It takes about a month to make something a habit. It helps to build on your momentum focusing on one thing at a time for a week. For example drinking a glass of Water before you eat. Or if you have a lot of soda maybe cut down one soda per day until you completely stop drinking soda. Make a list of all the things that you want to change and choose one from that list to focus on each week. I look forward to hearing your progress.

    I got the APPROVAL

Hi, don't stress your self. Take it 1 baby step at a time. Choose one thing to focus on per week and build it up adding one more each following week. You can do it.

    Biggest Loser

This show is indeed very extreme. They ideas that they are trying to teach are opposite of each other . I think they become too focused on the $$ of it all.

That's awesome! ! Good for you. It'd better than many.
  16. I have 3 boys soon going on for, 10, 3, 2, and one due in 5 days. My oldest has always been very supportive of me trying to be healthier and I will explain it to him but not in detail. And of course I will be open to answer any questions that he has but I will also let him understand that people can be mean and I don't want to talk about it to anyone else.

    New and Looking for Support

When I'm at my first doctor she did say that it is unusual for me being at the stages being pregnant. That I would be looking into the surgery but I told her that I've been wanting to do it for a long time now but I have been pregnant for the last couple years so, amongst other things of course, have kept me from starting the process. They recommend against having the surgery immediately after having the baby and breastfeeding as it depletes the body of nutrients. I definitely have to build up my immune system and my energy stores in my nutrition stores before in surgery. I attended a health information meeting and I was amazed that Kaiser does offer several different programs for health and weight management and the doctor also gave me a couple of referrals for two groups to attend which I plan on attending as soon as possible. I will attend as many support groups as I can because I don't have very much support through my family. I only have my husband and my mom so I'm definitely looking to meet new people, meet new friends that are going through this journey also.
  18. Hi everyone my name is Ronnie Rab; 29, 5'5", 250lbs and due in 5 days with baby 4. BMI 41; Ultimate Goals: 120-145 lbs and BMI 18-20. I have Kaiser Insurance as of 01/16 and they are awesome. I went to a health education class on 01/08, info on health programs available including bariatric surgery. Right after walking out of the class I called the number given to schedule with the Dr and got in to see her 15 mins after!! That was great. I figured I'd have to wait a good couple weeks but she happened to have 1 opening right then. I met with Dr. Miller. She was super nice. I have been researching the vsg for years so I expected the invasive questions about my hx, but it still hurts to think about it. She said based on all the information there shouldn't be a problem going through my insurance; huge blessing for me cuz I can not afford it! Anywho, I have many medical issues, edema, bad circulation in my legs, gestational diabetes, migraines, knee problems, chronic back pain, fatigue, exhaustion, enlarged fatty liver and spleen, and l'm probably forgetting something. My only immediate support is my husband and mom. I'm not telling any other family members because they have always put me down, shamed me, etc. I have a couple friends I may tell about it but I'm not sure yet. I'm looking for friends who are going through this too. I would like someone to talk to, that I can help too! If you're in Southern California, let me know. Maybe we can be each other's support. :-) I'm going to try to do the YouTube vlog thing too. I've never done anything like that so it's going to be. .. idk, but I know seeing others is helping me so why not. And it's a good place to vent I think. That's me in a nutshell.
  19. I'm now 2 days away from my surgery and I am so nervous . I can't stop thinking about it! You're going to do great!

Hey I know Insurance can be very difficult to deal with. I had Blue Shield before I switched over to call Kaiser at the first of the year. I had to show a full year and several other things as proof for Blue Shield to even think about considering any of it. Just keep working at it and you will get through. I highly recommend documenting everything is well. Not only for yourself but just in case something stupid happens with the insurance.

    Just beginning the journey

Hey, I just uploaded my 1st vlog. Stumbled and Bumble to the whole thing but i think you can probably see it now. It should be under Ronnie Rab. I have been looking at all the VST YouTube videos I can get my hands on and I kind of like the videos were they're actually doing the surgery so that I know exactly what they're going to be doing inside of me. I am fascinated by those kind of things so I totally understand where you're coming from.
  22. I feel you. I went to Dallas last summer and almost had to buy another seat when I got on my flight. On my way back, I had a panic attack from the anxiety of being in such a small space, full flight, seat arms digging into my aides, etc. Many people tell me I have a beautiful face and I 'wear my wt well" which is really code for "I can't believe you're that fat and still look good sometimes." It hurts.

    Just beginning the journey

I'm going to be 29 years old in February. I am about to give birth to my fourth baby, having had the last 3 back to back. I've been over 200 pounds for at least 8 years, but generally overweight all my life: edema, pre diabetic w/ gestational diabetes ,with these last three babies. Have an enlarged liver and spleen, injuries at work five years ago that have caused both shoulders to have problems and I have weight restrictions now along with PTSD, depression, anxiety, etc. I had shoulder surgery in January then knee surgery in February. The knee has been an issue since 2002 when I had the first knee surgery. I have high cholesterol / triglyceride, low good cholesterol of course. I suffer from chronic back pain since 2009 when I was rear ended. I also have circulation issues in my legs. I get migraines. Currently, I'm due with baby #4 on Jan 15th. My wt is 250 lbs, at 5'5" and I've been in xl - 3xl maternity clothing for the last 3 years. Anywho, all this was to say that your best friend should be your spouse. If he doesn't support you know, you should really talk to your spouse about why he's not on board and get him to go with you to all the information Meeting and doctors appointments that he can make it too so that he can understand why you want this . Sorry, I'm going off on tangents. The end.
