    Rough Visit

@@2goldengirl he had asked me what my concerns were and that one was a biggie that I had forgotten, that's all. I just hope my other issues don't bounce me out. I'm starting to get into the right mental state and don't want to lose it. I did dig around for that singers thread but couldn't find it. The Bariatrician's response on the singing front was that there had not been a study. @@DavidOso thanks for mentioning your singing. I'm a baritone myself .

    Rough Visit

Sorry I did not report back last week. Real life is always getting in the way So the psych was interesting. Very nice guy, but I think he's concerned about my care taking and such. It was mostly all questions and Monday I have to go do 2hrs of tests. I'm a little worried I came off like a flake. I completely forgot to ask him about my singing post op. It's really high on my list that I don't fudge up my voice. I make a bit of money singing. I asked about the NUT. He suggested talking with her. I think I'll do that to start with. After all, you can't improve a situation without bringing it up. He also said that it would not be a problem if I switched. The only thing he would worry about if I started changing everybody around. So now to test and worry until my next appointments in April Incidentally, I've dropped below my initial weigh in! I've been trying to make my meals smaller and more nutritious. Hungry a lot but dealing Edit: thanks everyone for the encouragement. It's much appreciated.

    Rough Visit

Thanks everyone. I was about +4 I think. I know it's in the 5 lb window, but the number does have to the same or less than my initial. I'm not sure if they'll let me switch to the other dietician. I will ask about that today @@Dub & @@Djmohr her info is solid. I'm already switching over to what she is suggesting I do. I've recovered most of the weight I gained. I just have to decide if I can put up with her or not. I used to have a great dietician, but she has since left the business. I'll make another post tonight and respond to everyone else. (Hard to move around on my phone) Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement

Some days my job is pretty cool

Awesome. There was a time when I thought I could be a vet/vet tech... Could give shots, birth animals, do most of the nasty stuff... then the animals that had to be put down... knew I couldn't do it.

Mind games = my worst enemy

Pretty sure someone was chopping onions in my house

Not sure who I should tell!

I hate to be that person, but be careful posting your email publicly. Spam bots and other unsavories can grab your email right out of this post. Just want everyone to be safe! -H

Not sure who I should tell!

I'm telling as few ppl as possible. I have enough anxiety issues without folks judging or making a fuss over me. I've told maybe 10 ppl at most that i'm going to be out a few weeks, even fewer why. When it comes to "how are you losing so much weight?" My answer will be clean living, diet and exercise... which isn't far from the truth

    BariatricPal Site and App Update

Hi Alex-- One more thing I just thought of on the website... could "Go to First Unread Post" be a little easier to find? I've been here regularly now for a while and I always have trouble finding it.

    Best Protein Bars?

I like the Quest bars... I'm glad to hear someone say they switched the formula back away from the corn Fiber. Alex, if you're listening, is that true? I was looking at the oh yeah one bars... the look good, but have quite a bit more calories than the quest bars (quests are 160-200 cal per bar, one bars appear all to be 220)
  10. I'm just started myself. I went to the informational session in February... had my first appointment 2 weeks ago. I get to see the dietician on Friday, and the psychologist on Monday. At my first appointment with the bariatrician, I met with the insurance gal who said I could be having surgery as soon as June. Holy buckets that's close For those going to their first appointment with the Bariatrician (MD), it's likely no sweat. Mine talk me through stuff, then ask you every question imaginable about your health. It was more like a conversation than an appointment. Then they order a ton of bloodwork. Best of luck to everyone.

    BariatricPal Site and App Update

On the phone app... an option to clear notifications in the list would be great. I'd love to see unread counts on the participated and subscribed links in the banner. I also dislike how likes work on the phone. I'd prefer a button. It took me a long time to figure out that the way I like or edit a post was by tapping on it. When you quote a post, it's not formatted, it would be good to see the formatting. Would also be cool to go to the chat room. Navigation is kind of hard. I'll think about some suggestions... I just don't have any good ones right now On the website... it would be good to see who's liked a post, like you can on the phone.

    BariatricPal Site and App Update

Thanks for the update, Alex! In the future I'm willing to be a beta-tester (I'm a software tester by trade) Update to the latest version... my notifications started clearing after the latest update.

Mind games = my worst enemy

Welcome! I can completely empathize with how you feel. I don't have a date yet but my anxiety is, I suspect, a lot like your critter (that's what I call my anxiety). It's going all over the place. One minute I'm ready, and say bring it on. The next I'm Oh **** what if it doesn't work, what if I gain it all back... and on and on. Some of my coping mechanisms are not really working right now, but I'm working on new ones. I do a lot of deep breathing, also, my art supplies have been a blessing. Try to find some things to distract yourself... And know you're not out here by yourself

    It's Showtime!

I know I'm late to the party and your surgery is over, but best of luck!

    Crazy diets

Oh I completely forgot that stuff. My doc put me on that as a jump start. Worst. 3 months. Ever. And I only lost like 5 lbs.
  16. So my insurance company requires that I do this "Phone Course." I have to read from this book, answer some questions ahead of the call. There were some dissonances compared to what I've encountered in my own research, as well as what I've heard here. There are lots of pictures of rice where they're talking about healthy eating. My understanding is that for RNY, that's not the greatest idea. Is rice something we can eat? They say that dumping occurs in 75% of patients. Around here I see people mention 30%. Of course, they don't cite their sources. Can someone here cite theirs? I'm sure there will be others, but these are the first two I saw.

    Crazy diets

Your form of hypnotism sounds pretty good. Just switch the gender of the trainer and skip the pool boy and I'm in I did research it because I was curious and it has a frighteningly high number of practitioners and believers.

    Dissonances...

I plan to but my call isn't for like another two weeks. My curiosity is getting the better of me [emoji846]
  19. HanSolo1977

    Dissonances...

This is a bariatric class... it's not limited to nutrition. I have a "coach" and a dietician who will be on these calls. It's completely unrelated to my surgery program.
  20. I'm working on this right now... I made it all the way to lunch without any caffeine today. I've switched to caffeine free diet soda and hope to remove that soon too (I've cut way back on that too). One year ago, even thinking about surgery wasn't possible. I'm coming up on the one year anniversary of my doc saying "Have you considered weight loss surgery? You'd be a good candidate" If everything goes to plan, I'll be getting surgery in July.

    Crazy diets

I had a friend ask me to join her in doing "Virtual Lap Band" Apparently they hypnotize you into thinking you've had WLS and you magically eat like you do as if you had it. Needless to say I did not opt in for my BS Detector 9000 was screaming at me...

    Crazy diets

I tried these high fiber pills called PGX Daily... they were good for me, but they didn't help me lose weight. Although I got a lot more exercise running to the bathroom from these little fiber bombs.

    Exercise and Plateaus

The trainer I've worked with in the past has given me 3-4 sets of things to do... so that I can switch up upon occasion for this very reason.
  25. Congrats @@katanne ! My first appointment with the dietician is in a couple of weeks. My plan is the same as yours... I don't have to lose a specific amount of weight (outside the 2 week liquid diet), but gaining is a deal breaker. I'm also lucky the only real thing my insurance requires is phone calls with their people.
