  1. I am so glad to read your posts..not that I am glad you all are also struggling, but because I have felt like such a failure. I have only lost 53 lbs and just celebrated my 1 yr band anniversary. I too have not done all my part to help loose the weight. I have only had 1 fill and that was months ago, but I am getting stuck at times. I am able to consume much more then I should and know a fill is probably due, but am afraid since I am on occassion getting stuck. I would love to chat with those going through my similar circumstance.

JKPenny - Responding quite slow to your post as I haven't been on the website for probably 9 months. I found your post and connected because that is where I am at right now. Did you ever go get that fill since your post? How is it going? I really need to get back on track. I got this band for a reason and need to work it. Would love to hear your experience.

  2. Ooohhh....my turn! I was in my bosses office the other day (we are also pretty good friends) and I sat down in her chair. I asked her if it was the same chair that had always been there and she thought about it for a minute and then said, "well, yeah. Why?" I smiled real big and said "my BUTT FITS!"

  3. this is very interesting! My doctor never told me what to do. The dietician said 2 days of liquid and then 2 days of mushies and then back to normal foods. She never said to start that morning. I specifically ate some string cheese immediately before going in for my fill that afternoon so I wouldn't be too hungry. I even told my surgeon when I got there and he chuckled. Didn't seem to think it was an issue. Go figure!

  4. I have seen this thread for days now and just never opened it up. What a mistake that was - I have been missing joyful tears all this time! I am so moved by each and every one of your posts and am so happy for all of you! And I'm happy for me too and just want to share - pretty much the same NSV that the rest of you have reported, but none the less, exciting!

    1. I FEEL my husband's arms go around me just a bit tighter and I LIKE that!

    2. I have noticed the last week that I have sat in a couple of chairs with arms, like at the doctor's office waiting room, and I SLIDE down into it! Still snug, but I SLIDE!!!! I don't have to fold myself into it. (By the way, I'm crying right now...tears of joy!)

    3. People that don't even know I had the surgery are saying to me that I look so happy - if they only knew!!!

Thank you so much for sharing you NSV! It's an exciting new life, isn't it?!

  5. Huggie bear, I am down exactly 35 lbs as of today also! Congrats to all of us!!! And yes, your story is very similar to mine. My pants are fitting perfect now, but that is because I STUFFED my extra 35 lbs into all my clothes for the exact same reason as you did! haha... but now they fit like they should have been all along. I think another maybe 10-15 lbs and will have to go shopping! (ah, how sad....NOT!) Yes, my port is bothersome when the waistband of some of my pants hits it. Oh well, just readjust. But definately something to keep in mind when going shopping for that next size down - don't get them too tight even though I would like to to save money down the line. I have trouble still laying on my left side in bed because it iritates the port area also.

Keep up the good work, All!

  6. Someone on a different thread found the website that had the band sizes for multiple different bands. Turns out mine is 10cc just like yours. I think I remember my surgeon saying that I had 1.5 cc in there from surgery and then he added 3.5 at my first fill. Today was my first day to know true restriction.....I got the PB's after about 3 bites of scrambled eggs. I won't eat them again!!

  7. Just had my first fill today. I was sooooo scared! It turned out to be not as bad as I was expecting. It was just the unknown and stupid me, I watched the fill videos on U-tube first! Dumb!! I am back to liquid for 2 days and then softs for 2 days. I'm already hungry! Need to get my toosh up off this coach and make one. I'm sooo scared something is going to get stuck that I am sipping liquids so slowly....Guess I have to be patient.

  8. JDRocks226,

Regarding the Soup, I ate creamy type Soups with no chunks. Like cream of broccoli, cream of asparagus, etc. In the airport I had to choose a soup that had some chunks in it and I just pretty much tried to stick to the juice, but would get some soft vegetables on my spoon and would just chew them really well and didn't have any problems. As far as the amount, I probably ate about 1/2 cup each time. Good luck!

  9. Okay, so there was a going-away party after work today. It was supposed to be everyone buys there own at this bar, but when I get there it turns out to be a sit-down type thing and one of the bosses has ordered hor deurves (however you spell it) for all the tables. It was kinda hard to see the nachos and calamari - I kept staring at it, drooling inside, but knowing that I wouldn't have any no matter what. (oh yeah, just got banded June 9th). So, I ordered a glass of wine, drank only 3/4 of it and sipped REALLY slow. Also ordered a CUP, NOT A BOWL (woo hoo!) of Tomato bisque Soup, gave away the scrumptous looking cornbread. First thing I have eaten in the mushie stage. Ate really, really slow, enjoyed every bite, and was full! Very proud of myself, I am! Good thing, cuz now I am off to Chicago for the weekend on a business trip. Wish me luck finding lots of Soups and mushies!:cursing:

  10. ebinsc, no, he didn't do a fill during surgery. I think I probably don't know what I'm talking about :-) I think, the more I hear, it may be the gas that everyone is talking about that I only seemed to have the first 8 hours in the hospital. I thought that the gas was all gone, but maybe not, huh? I bet when I finally feel restriction, I won't know what hit me! :-)
