  1. If you are an American, HIPAA law prevents your employer or future employer from being able to access your medical record. No medical practice would go giving out that information unless they want to get sued. It is against the law. Sent from my Nexus 10 using the BariatricPal App
  2. I started my 2 week pre-op diet a few days ago. My program's pre-op diet isn't as strict as some I've seen on here, but it is mostly Protein drinks and is only about 700 to 800 calories a day. I had been working out for 30 min most days prior to starting, but now my energy level has completely tanked. I don't want to use this as an excuse to skip the gym, but I also don't want to burn myself out. I still have so much to do in the next week and a half before surgery! I'm worried about what my energy level is going to be like post-op. Of course eventually I'll at least be able to have some caffeine again. Did you or are you working out on your pre-op diet? Are you exhausted? Sent from my Nexus 10 using the BariatricPal App

  6. At my last support group meeting someone brought up this same issue with cream of wheat. People said that it expands for a while after you cook it. If you eat it shortly after cooking, it will expand in your stomach and cause discomfort. They suggested you should let it sit for a bit before you eat it. Even let it cool and then heat it back up in a microwave later so that it is completely expanded before you eat it. That way you'll know how it fits in your stomach better. 9. I think one reason I'm feeling so worried is because I feel a lot of "last meal" cravings right now. I have to start my preop diet next week and all I keep thinking about is the food I want to eat this week before I have to give it all up...but I know that type of thinking is NOT going to help me be successful with this. I don't want to be someone who cheats or constantly eats around their sleeve, but summoning the willpower to say no to the things I want is really a challenge for me. I think I need to do some soul searching about my priorities and goals and really get my head in the game. Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App
  10. I am 3 weeks pre-op and even though I am excited for this change, I'm worried that I am underestimating how hard post-op life will be. I keep telling myself that I can make the required diet changes, but saying and doing are two different things! I have already made some changes to my diet, reducing calories, increasing Protein and Water, avoiding unhealthy foods, but no matter how hard I try I keep slipping up here and there. Post-op people, how hard was it to adjust to your new life after wls? How often do you miss foods or feel deprived? How often do you slip off plan? Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App
  11. Are you living together or have kids together? I hope you can get yourself out of that situation soon! Stay strong! You deserve respect and love. Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App
  12. You look great! Also, I really like that cardi/wrap you have in the 2nd photo. Can I ask where you got it? Sent from my Nexus 10 using the BariatricPal App
  13. August 11th! I'm excited, but the closer it gets the more nervous I get.
  14. Sorry you are experiencing this. I've heard others talk about the mood swings that can come in the early rapid weight loss stage, and I'm really worried about it. I have a bit of a temper anyway and I've had issues with anxiety and depression throughout my life, so I feel like this could definitely be an issue for me. I've already warned my husband that I could be really emotional during the first month or two. I don't think it will last forever, so hopefully it will pass and you'll start feeling better! 16. I had to have a sleep study as part of my preop requirements and they told me I have sleep apnea. I never would have guessed. I have zero symptoms other than some snoring if I lay on my back which I rarely do. I sleep soundly, wake up rested, no headaches or daytime drowsiness. I can't imagine that I will sleep better with hoses attached to my face, but they won't do my surgery unless I get an apap, so I plan on renting one just long enough for the surgery and a few weeks post op and then returning it. (My insurance covers a 2 month rental then converts to purchase). Sent from my Nexus 10 using the BariatricPal App

  20. I was worried about the lack of long term studies on VSG too, but then I came across info about how gastrectomies have actually been done for a long time - just not for obesity. Similar stomach surgeries have been used for years with cancer patients, people with severe ulcers, and other digestive conditions. There are favorable long term studies on those populations, but those studies aren't connected to ones specifically about VSG for weight loss. This isn't a precise summary, but there was one that followed patients in England for many years who had large portions of their stomach removed, and I believe the worst long term outcome was some nutritional deficiency (and this was decades before Vitamin supplements became a widespread practice). If I can find the link I will share it. I believe it was in the forum on here about studies and research. Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App
  21. Congrats guys! Hope your recovery goes smoothly. Keep us posted if you can, even if you just need to vent I finally got a date...Aug 11th at Overlake with Dr. Anirban Gupta. It's almost a month earlier than I was expecting! I wasn't nervous before but now I'm worried about everything and questioning my decision. Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App
  22. Hey fellow GHC sleever! I heard that Dr. Landers has the lowest complication rate in the state of WA. I just had my consult with Dr. Gupta today. He seems very knowledgeable as well. I'm still working on my 5% loss, so they haven't given me a date yet. 10 lbs to go!
  23. I think K Star is. Can't remember on the others. Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App
  24. I've watched both of those. I like people with big personalities and a sense of humor like ClusieL, 1 Gorgeous Godzilla, and Chemistry Queen. There are some good older ones like K Star, Cece VSG, Drea VSG, and VSG RedesignMe. Some more recent people are Madeup Mama, Caitlyns VSG Journey, Princess and the Sleeve...too many to list! Some are better than others as far as being entertaining, but I even watch boring ones just to learn as much as I can and hear more people's perspectives. (Edited because my phone hates me )
