Good morning sleevers. I had surgery on 3/16 and have gone down two pants sizes which is fantastic, however I have lost no inches in my calves. I have always had large legs. Just wondering if anyone started with large calves and now they look close to normal size.

That is awesome! Congratulations

I wanted to go to Bailey but my insurance does not cover WLS. I am going to Dr. Ronnie Keith and my surgery is on March 16th. If you do not mind me asking who is your insurance company. I have BCBS and they do not pay

Wow you look amazing. What was your weight before surgery?

March 16th

He and the staff were really nice when I went for my consultation. He is heavy and I wondered why he has not had the procedure himself. I would really like to hear from someone who actually had surgery with him. He does not have a profile on here and that kind of scares me. I mean this is my life I am putting his hands in.

I am self pay and officially have a surgery date of March 16th. I am excited and extremely nervous at the same time. I am starting at 360 and am really worried. I have wanted this for so long and now that it is a reality, I am terrified. Has anyone on the firm had surgery with Ronnie Keith?

Did anyone have their inverted gastric sleeve with Dr. Keith?

The liquid diet is for your own good. I'm using the app and can't see your stats and also don't know what doctor/program you're with. But the way my surgeon and nutritionist explained it to me, they base the duration of the liquid diet on your pre-surgery BMI. <35 = 3 days. 35 - 40 = 1 week. 40 - 45 = 2 weeks. >45 = 3 weeks. Something along those lines. I was also a self pay patient and while I only had a 1 week liquid preop diet, it helped having my program explain the purpose and criteria for the diet.
Thank you for the information. I was never told this. I know it is for my own good, I just did not understand why. Thank you

That is kind of what I was thinking. Three weeks is a long time. If I could live on liquid, I would not be in the position I am in.

Had my first meeting with the doctor and they said I had to be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks to shrink my liver...wait what? That seems like a really LONG TIME. I am a big girl and I am terrified of the liquid diet. I am a self pay so I have to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars and I am not sure I can make it three weeks. Anyone else had to be on liquids that long?

You may also want to check the self-pay options with Dr. Scott Stowers at My Bariatric Solutions in Texas. He has offices in N. Fort Worth/Alliance and Decatur. He has a mobile unit and works with a lot of patients who travel in. (And he went to school in OK ) http://mybariatricsolutions.com/dr-scott-stowers-bariatric-surgeon
I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow, so I can't speak for that part of it yet, but Dr. Stowers and his staff have been timely, courteous, and have worked to streamline the whole process for me. Less than 8 weeks from initial appt. to surgery for me. Best of luck!
How did your surgery go?

Thank you!

For all those self pay people out there. What finance company did you use and how much was your interest rate if you do not mind me asking. Does anyone know of any interest free for a year or so options?

I would love for you to pray with me. I am trying desperately to get the sleeve surgery without help from my insurance. It is very expensive but if I do not find a way to have it. I will not be around for my 5 year old son and my husband. I am praying for guidance. Thank you for your offer to pray. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer. Thank you and God bless.

If one needed to stay the night do they have that option or do they close up shop at night? Because you did not stay overnight with an IV did you experience any dehydration? Sorry for so many questions but I really appreciate your answers.

Thank you so much for the information Browneyedgirl. Are you local to the area or did you have to travel? If you did have to travel, how many days did you stay in Texas before heading home if you do not mind me asking.

Thank you for the information.

Hello my name is Tina and I live in Oklahoma. I am currently 359 pounds and in desperate need of surgery but my insurance refuses to cover the procedure. I am considering a self pay option with Dr. Kim in Texas. Has anyone had surgery with him and what was your experience. Any information will
Be most appreciated.

I have BCBS in Oklahoma. Has anyone actually got them to approve weight loss surgery? Mine has a clause that says absolutely no weight loss covered.
Calf size

I am just starting my journey. My surgery was 3 weeks ago yesterday. I have already gone down two (almost 3) paint sizes but my extra large calves are not wanting to go in the smaller jeans. Just wanted to see if there was any light at the end of the tunnel per say, lol. All in all I want to be healthy so it does not really matter but just once, I would like to look decent in a pair of jeans.
