Can't eat all I'm supposed to

Thanks you two, today's a new day, maybe it'll be a better one.
  2. I had surgery yesterday and it went well. I'm really sore right now but haven't noticed any gas problems like most have. I wasn't made to walk every two hours as I've read that others have. My back hurts, but I also have a preexisting back problem. I'm glad to be home now that's for sure, but I must admit I wasn't quite ready for how sore I'd feel! Thank God for liquid pain killers! :w00t::w00t: Oh, I weighed myself once I got home and I GAINED a stinkin' pound. I figure it was from the IV they were pumping in me. Looking forward to a smaller me now.:biggrin2:

    In Lansing, anyone use Sparrow?

The staff at SWMC are awesome. Dr Y is great too. All in all my process from info meeting until the 28th took about 4 months. Optifast was actually pretty easy. I do much much better being told what/when/how much to eat rather than 'cut back'. I am still doing Optifast for another week after surgery but now it's difficult to get it all in. Good luck to you! Keep in touch.

    In Lansing, anyone use Sparrow?

Hi Anita. Yes, had my surgery and I'm really really sore still. My gas pains aren't in my shoulders as happens to most, mine are going to my back. Lovely. I'm sipping my water and pacing my apartment. How are you doing now that you're past this stage?

    American Idol '08

Boy she was pathetic! Even when it was brought to her attention that he'd only sung once, she then tried to say it was Cook but that didn't make sense either! I think she took an extra dose of pain killers preshow.

    Who else was done Apr.25th?

I was banded on the 28th and still really really sore. How are you doing?

    I'm not losing weight

Were you given any guidelines for after surgery of what to consume? I was told to make sure to consume 70g of protein everyday. I'm not sure if you are, but try upping your protein, it may help.
  8. I just wanted to wish those of us who are beingbanded tomorrow, April 28th. Hope we all have a smooth surgery and quick recovery! :huh2:
  9. If you click on my ticker, it'll open in a new window - you select the options you want, put in your information then it'll give you a couple options to choose from. Highlight the first one completely and right click/copy. To the right here, click on edit profile, click on edit signature, in the box, right click/paste. then preview your sig. If it looks like you want, save sig. viola
  10. I'm being banded on the 28th - makes four us here so far, and I'm not scared of the surgery one bit. I, too, am more afraid of life after band - about the PBing and whatnot. I'm sure we'll all be fine. You may be like some of us - losing's easy, it's keeping it off that's the hard part.
  11. Wow you just like throwing out those insults left and right, don't ya?

    I'm such a failure!

I'm on it. But I have to say, I saw a commercial for Chilli's mini burgers that I just can't get off my mind. The devil on my shoulder tells me they'd never know, but I would know. Boy that commercial is tempting, but I promise I will not cheat again.
  13. Hey all. I'm being banded on the 28th and my Dr. has me on a liquid diet for close to 4 weeks prior. I've been really good with not cheating...until today. I took my son to see Ben Stein's movie Expelled and he ate his chips with cheese and drank his drink. The smells of popcorn were heavenily. I ate my Optifast Protein bar slowly to help keep the cravings away. I made it through the movie fine. (I recommend Expelled!) Anyway, my little one here stuck a Frito in my mouth. I sucked on it. That was the wrong thing to do! I then ate some, got mad at myself for it and to deal with the disappointment I ate more of them. I blew it. Big time.:thumbup::thumbup: Does this mean my chances of failure after surgery increase, because I cheated this time? Gawd I hope not.

    April 28th is the Day!

I tried to accept you as a friend on here, but it didn't take. I'll try inviting you.

    I'm such a failure!

Thank you to everyone. I was really beating myself up there for a while! I'm better about it now - came to peace with it and have been following my liquid diet faithfully ever since. 6 more day until surgery - I can hardly wait!

    April 28th is the Day!

Me too! Good luck to all of us that day.

    I'm such a failure!

Re-reading this, what IS the problem then?
  18. jrob281

    I'm such a failure!

Thanks you two, I appreciate it. Yes, I'm hoping to go about this pre-op (and then post-op life) with more determination than ever. I just had a sinking feeling that MAYBE because I cheated after 2 weeks that it'll mean I might more than likely cheat before I can actually EAT food again and wondered on the likelyhood of that...even if it is more likely, I'll blow that stat out of the Water and prove it wrong! (sorry if that was confusing, my mind is going faster than my fingers are)

Anyone heard about Ben Stein's new movie Expelled?

. I took my 14 year old son with me and we caught the 1:15 showing I must say the movie was certainly interesting. It was more about how some in the scientific field were fired/careers ruined because they even mentioned the words "intelligent design'' - they didn't even need to teach anything about it to have repercussions. The movie showed how Darwin's Origin of Man is basically the scientific community's public belief and several scientifsts were interviewed. One stated that he believes life was created on the back of crystals, another says life was created elsewhere and transplanted to Earth. The most shocking part of the movie was when Ben went to some place, I forget it's name, in Germany where 70,000 people were killed in WWII era, including deformed people and Jewish people. I would definitely recommend this movie be it rented or in the theatre.

    BMI rant! Overdone, I know.

I'm the EXACT same way. When I was down to a 'healthy' weight according to the BMI scale, I was told by everyone I looked anorexic. I laughed at them because I have always had muscular legs so they sure didn't look like an anorexic's would.
  21. ME TOO! I'd rather they be under my armpits where they belong than suffocating me. :crying:

    today...

I have not. But I wanted to give you some get better wishes. I hope your surgery on Thursday goes well.

    How Much?

Haha love it! When I was younger and fit, I was bigger breasted than all my friends and I got so sick of men talking to my chest that I got into the habit of bending over and looking men squarely at their "package" to ask them how they are too. :smile2: Needless to say, they got uncomfortable and didn't like that one bit. My firends of course would always die laughing. :rolleyes2:

    Liquid diet question....

Mine does 4 week Optifast pre-surgery, then 4 weeks of tapering up to solids post-surgery. By the time I have surgery, in two weeks, I'll have done only 3.5 weeks preop.
