  1. Thank you Perforce, Carl Dickenson and AlighterKann

For your kind replys ! I would like to think I would have my doctor on my side, but not sure about that but as you said perforce tell them don't ask !! I am going to make sure I do talk to my doctor before I do go have surgery. It is a good idea to have them on your side thank you. Can I ask you also where you went for your surgery Perforce ? I like the idea they kept you in for a week most just want to only have you there a very short time.

    Many thanks ❤️

  2. Hi Oasis, I read your second to last post and had to re-read it a couple of times. You are the same height as me, the same SW weight and same BMI! I went to Belgium through ECFS and had Philip Vanden Borre as my surgeon. Faultless care right from my first contact, surgery on 21Oct '15 and through to post op. I am now 50lbs down, feel WONDERFUL. I only wish that I had done it years ago. I am wearing really fun clothes, getting great compliments, and getting loads fitter. I swim half a mile most mornings and then walk the dogs for anything between 2-5 miles. I'm 60 in September and want to be at goal weight by then. I've got just over 20lbs to go so should manage it.

Don't have any fears or doubts about having VSG. Just go for it! Life just keeps getting better and better the more lard that I lose.

  3. I am 5.3ft and weigh 14.5 , BMI 36.

I suffer with osteoporosis in my spine, sciatica in my legs and asthma.

I have been told by my doctor that he believes I have ultra sensitive airways. There fore I am forever catching one thing or other and end up taking steroids which battles with my weight fluctuation. This I believe puts pressure on my back and legs. I am suffering from depression at the moment as this is a constant battle with my weight. I never want to leave the house as I don't have clothes to fit or feel good about myself .

But I am afraid of the risks of surgery and the drastic change in my lifestyle but would love to be able to wear my real clothes again and not just something to cover my frumpy body.

But your story is giving me the inspiration to go and get the op !!!!

  4. That is brilliant !!! And how are you getting on with it since ? Have you had any problems or is it all been quite easy to cope with ? I think everyone seems to have different experiences. I keep reading pros and cons !! One minute I am all for op and then I think oh no ! He he

I don't have that much weight to lose but it's a constant battle with my health and I know long term life would be so much better.

Look forward to hearing your reply and if there are ant questions you would like to ask me fire ahead

  7. I know it is rare for a leak 1 out of 100 ? But this is what scares me most about the operation. Therefore this is the reason for my questions ????

What happens if I had a leak when I left the hospital in Europe and was at home in the UK ? Would I go to my local NHS hospital ?

Is there a danger after the first 6 weeks of a leak ?

How long approx does it take for stomach tissue to cover the staples and then is it safe from leaks ?
