  1. I’ve had my band since 2016 and last month had .5ccs removed because an esophogram showed my band was too tight. I had awful reflux at night and aspirated twice. Now, I feel like I have no restriction and I’m so afraid of gaining weight. I can eat anything really and I’m hungry more frequently. I’m thinking of asking my surgeon to put some back in but I’m so afraid of the reflux again. The struggle, ugh.
  2. In August I had my last fill of .3 ccs, bringing me to 7.1 total. I felt green for a long time. Then, in December I started to throw up frequently and I had awful acid reflux in the middle of the night. I would wake up choking on acid, gross. So last week I went back to my doctor and he removed .25 ccs. Now I feel like I made a mistake because I'm hungry earlier during the day and later at night than I have been. I'm also able to eat easier, I feel like I'm not restricted enough. Does anyone know if they are able to put in .1 cc? Anyone else have this experience? I definitely don't want to throw up often and have esophageal issues, but I don't want to gain weight either. Help! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stomach bug

My doctor told me if this ever happened to me to call him and go in and he would empty my band until I was better. I'd call my doctor if I were you. Good luck!
  5. I'm curious to see how many CCs it took for everyone to get to their green zone. My band is a 10 CC band and I have 6 CCs in it but don't feel I'm green yet. How about everyone else?
  6. Jeannette, green zone is where you are restricted enough to not be hungry between meals. You are satisfied after eating a cup of food. Red zone is too much restriction and yellow is not enough.
  7. Wow that's almost full! I wonder if some have to fill to the max?
  8. I was also only restricted for a little while after my first three fills. But now that I know what the green zone feels like I understand true restriction. Good luck getting to your green zone too!
  9. I now have 6.5 CCs in my band and I'm green! I wonder why no one wanted to answer this thread though. I know the amounts are different for anyone but I was just curious to see if there was an average. My doc said between 6-8 seems to be where most fall.

    Fills

I had Dr. Schwack as my surgeon from Dr. Fielding's office and my first fill had to be at least three weeks after surgery. They usually wait until 4. My first fill was today! They place the band in empty (some other offices have some saline already in them). I had 3.5 ccs put in today then I go back in 4 weeks to see how hungry I am and they will add either 1.5 or 1 more ccs. I hope this helps! It's different for every person in terms of the green zone. Good luck!
  11. I was banded yesterday! I'm in a bit of pain, especially when the meds start to wear off so I'm setting alarms to make sure I take them every four hours, even at night. I've been taking Gas X strips to help with the pain in my shoulder. Honestly the shoulder/gas pain was worse than the belly pains yesterday. I'm not really hungry so I've been forcing myself to drink a bit of a protein shake and sip some tomato soup. I'm just so excited for this new beginning. I'm proud to finally be a part of this group. ????
  12. Hi everyone! My surgery is next Friday, 1/22, and I was wondering how many days everyone took off of work after surgery? I'm a middle school teacher so I can really sit for a lot of the day. I was just trying to see what you would suggest.

4 days post op...well, HELLO hunger!

It's different for each surgeon. I had to be on a thin liquid diet for 10 days post op then a puréed diet for 10 days.
  14. Hi everyone! I'm new here but not new to being obese. I've been overweight since I was a child and I am excited, and a little nervous, to begin this new chapter of my life. My surgery date is 1/22 and my pre-op diet starts 1/8. I've freaked myself out a little after watching too many YouTube videos but I'm still sure I want to do this. Are there any other January banders out there?

I also bought Biotin because I heard of banded having hair loss.
  16. I took off from Friday through the next Friday and I'm returning Monday.

    I'm banded!

Walking and using Gas x strips really helped me. Good luck!

    I'm banded!

Nygiants, the pain in my shoulders is gone but my wounds hurt now. Also, since I've been trying to lay on my back mostly, my back is killing me. I'm a side sleeper. It is still too uncomfortable to lay that way. Today will be my first day off pain meds and the swelling in my belly seems to be down so I'm hoping I'm almost out of the woods. How are you?
  19. Now that I'm on day 11, it's a walk in the park. I don't even think about it anymore. It's just what I do.
  20. I started my pre-op diet today, which consists of light protein shakes, 2 cups of vegetables, 2 tbsp. fat free dressing, sugar free jello, gum, and popsicles, low sodium broth, and coffee or tea with skim milk and Splenda. I feel like this is a lot more strict than others' diets. I've heard of many being able to eat lean meats and fish and fruit. Any idea why this is?
  21. Mine told me some people have it done Friday and go to work Monday and others need up to a week so I guess I'll just see how I am.
  22. I was told at pre admission testing to stop taking all vitamins and any ibuprofen products a week before surgery.
  23. I'm getting banded next week too! My surgery is Friday so let me know how it goes too! How exciting!
  24. I was hoping I wouldn't need the whole week ????
  25. So far it hasn't been bad. The protein shakes fill me so I don't really feel hungry. I woke up with a bad headache this morning so hopefully that stops. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll hang in there
