  1. HW 286, CW 183. Still hoping to loose another 40 pounds. I'm 5'4.

    50 lbs down

Congratulations! Everyone told me at first about how much they could see it in my face. Now I get a lot more about weight loss in general.

    and now my shoes too!?

My shoe size has dropped a full size and my feet are still getting smaller. I was borderline between wide and regular and now I'm definitely just a regular. I just started noticing that my work out shoes are getting big again. My jewelry is another thing I wasn't expecting to have to buy either. Had to get new pandora bracelets, and all new rings. Even necklaces are too long now.

    Getting Called Fat After WLS

I do body combat at the gym everyday. You get to picture anyone you want in your head and then pretend to hit and kick them for the next 55 minutes. I guess your company must not have the required sensitivity training videos that we have to watch each year. Come to think of it it doesn't always prevent people from making those comments anyway.
  5. I can give you the names of several Orthopedic Surgeons who will state running is so hard on your back, knees feet, etc. Especially if you are overweight. I do walking on the treadmill and aerobic classes because that is what I like. If you don't like what you are doing you will never keep it up long term. I would just proceed with your current plan.

    Not getting a clear answer

I think they are just looking for a weight record, not supervised weight loss attempts. Have you been to see your PCP for a couple of years? That is who I had to get 5 years of records from for BCBS TX.

What do you eat? Am I eating too much?

@@cowboys4life I burn about 1000 calories per day at the gym so my Doc told me to increase to 1200 calories with 50% of the calories coming from protein. I think you have to talk to your Doc about exactly how many calories you are burning. I use my Fitbit blaze to calculate and track them.

    October List of Surgery's

@@steph_anie I have had the same kind of issue with a good friend. She hasn't had surgery, but has been easing back on her exercise routines and not eating very well. The closer I get to her weight it seems the worse I look to her. I think it is jealousy. I just pretty much ignore those comments and try to steer the subject to something else. Not sure how she will take it when I weigh less than her. Just either ignore her or end the relationship. You have worked to hard to let other people bring you down. This seems to be a fairly common phenomena based on other threads I have seen on here. As long as you are not underweight on the BMI table and you feel good you should just stay on your current path.

    October List of Surgery's

I'm down 105 pounds, with about 40 left to go to hit my personal goal. I can't believe how slow the loss is now. I'm lucky to lose 5 or 6 pounds a month now. Working out between 2-3 hours every day and keeping the calories around 1200 per day. I'm sure I I'll get there but it is still going to take awhile. Now it is time to start researching plastics for all this loose skin.

You know you lost weight when

I used my whirlpool tub last night for the first time since loosing weight. I couldn't believe how much bigger it felt. Felt more like a swimming pool.

What do you eat? Am I eating too much?

An easy couple of hundred calories can be with nuts. More fat than protein, but good fat. I also like the oh yeah one candy bars. A little high on the carbs, but they taste great.
  12. I had a BMI of 50, and had the sleeve last October. Down 103 pounds since last July and loving it.

What do you eat? Am I eating too much?

You may want to make your own ice cream. You can make non sugar ice cream and add unflavored protein powder to it to make it more bariatric friendly. Personally I get in trouble with cheese and nuts because they are trigger foods for me. I do better with a syntrax nector protein drink which is pure protein and no carbs or fat.
  14. My Mom's side is about 50% obese and my Dads side is pretty normal. Ironically the only one that supported me is my Dad. My Mom and Sister both have significantly uncontrolled diabetes, high BP, and many other health issues and still think my decision was the wrong one. It is frustrating because I would really like my 22 year old niece (sisters girl) to have the surgery, but I don't want to get her Mom mad at me.

    Compare Before and After…Your Kitchen!

Interesting topic, I just thought the other day if I put my house on the market what would people think of my pantry. My kitchen is much more filled than it was pre surgery. My pantry is filled with protein of all sorts, along with new gadgets for cooking items. My refrigerator is crammed with chicken, turkey, and fish either uncooked or leftovers. Also all kinds of almond milk and tons of oikos triple zero Greek Yougert. Gone is bread and pasta which used to be basic staples. I too have added greatly to my spice and seasoning collection. Penzey's has become one of my go to online shopping stops. There also seems to be an abundance of cheese growing in my refrigerator.

    Need some recipes? Please

@@RoachBug I love cerviche however hate tilapia. Have you ever tried it with a different fish like cod? I also like to have sweet corn in mine. I guess that would add to the carbs but shouldn't be too bad. I will have to give this a try.

    Need some recipes? Please

I like to make frittatas. I use ground turkey sausage, feta cheese, red pepper strips, and egg beaters. Put it all in a skillet and bake at 350 for about 25-30 minutes. (Until solid in the middle). Makes 4 servings which heat up in the microwave really easy. Also love blackberry balsamic marinated chicken. You can get the recipe on Pinterest. Last night I made chicken breast pounded out, then stuffed with a small amount of fresh mozzarella cheese, red pepper strips, kalamata olives, and basil leaves. Bake in 350 oven about 25-30 minutes. Take out of oven and add some parmesan cheese and then put back in the oven under broiler for about 5 minutes. Check out Pinterest. I get lots of recipes and ideas off there. You can search for bariatric or high Protein recipes.
  21. The only way to get it covered is to get the surgeon to change the code. I went through this same thing with Drs appointments for my thyroid that got coded to obesity. Finally the Drs office changed the coding and resubmitted and it was covered. I would still try to fight it out on the Aug labs. You Surgeon should still be able to resubmit that with the right codes regardless of the time limit.
  22. Great job! I envy you in doing the pull ups. That is one of my ultimate fitness goals. I know it is a combination of loosing more weight and strengthening my upper body, but that has to be one of the hardest moves. Congratulations!

    Breast size after surgery

I've gone from a 52DD to a 42D. I don't think the cup size will decrease much from here on out. I've lost 100 pounds, but still have 40 to go. I was a C in 8th grade. I would love to be a B cup. If I get to the surgery point I will get a reduction, and most importantly put back where they belong.

Science: How reporters get it wrong

Perfect for describing all of these scientists studies we have been seeing recently. I love the comparison to the childhood game of telephone where the baby is actually made of chocolate. I still remember when red M&M's caused cancer.
  25. My Surgeon doesn't forbid it, but states that you can only drink it flat. That just doesn't sound to appetizing to me. I was a Diet Pepsi addict in my younger days and probably had one a day before my surgery. I haven't had one since and really don't miss it. I'm so busy trying to get in all the water that I would rather just add flavoring drops to water and drink that.
