I just got home from my endoscopy. The doc found level A reflux. Anyone have this and still get the sleeve? Betsy

So, I failed my upper GI. I had horrible heartburn the night before my test. I've seriously only had heartburn 3-4 times in my entire life. The test showed I had GERD. I've remained queasy and have had general tummy troubles for over a week now. My husband had a similar bug. Is it possible that I had a bug and my endoscopy in a week or so will come up clear? My first choice is to get the sleeve, but will go for gastric bypass if necessary. Insurance has already approved the sleeve and I'll have to resubmit if I change surgeries. I was hoping for an early summer surgery so I can recover before I go back to work as a teacher. Has this happened to anyone else? Need positive vibes, please. Thanks :-)

I've been in the process of qualifying to get the sleeve since last summer. I got insurance approval three weeks ago, and had an Upper GI last week. My doc called today to let me know that he doesn't think I'm a good candidate for the sleeve since he detected GERD on my Upper GI results. I had heartburn the night before the procedure, which is weird, because I've only had heartburn 3 or 4 times in my entire life and I'm almost 40. My doc said he will go ahead with gastric bypass. The problem: I feel disappointed because I've spent months preparing for the sleeve. I have to go back and get reapproved through insurance and take new education courses. I had tentatively planned my surgery for May 23rd. Now I have no idea when it will happen. I'm a teacher, so fingers crossed it can be rearranged for this summer. So, please tell me everything you love and hate about gastric bypass. How's the recovery? Why did you choose it over the sleeve? Thanks Betsy

Ok ladies, Those who've had a c-section...which is worse? I survived a c-section and it really wasn't that bad. Surgery is scheduled for June. Just trying to psych myself up and prepare for the unknown :-)

I was approved for my surgery today!! It only took a week. I have BCBS of Florida. Aiming for June 13th!

Has anyone successfully gotten short term disability benefits after surgery...during recovery? I'm a teacher and my surgery may be approved before summer vacation. Thanks :-)

Hi! I'm officially on the mandatory Dr. supervised diet for insurance purposes. How much did you lose during this part of the process? What happens if you don't lose? Will insurance deny the surgery? I'm eating well and getting my 10,000 steps a day, but not seeing much movement on the scale. Thanks!

I've just started the mandatory supervised diet and would love a local buddy. I'm in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. I'm hoping for a June 2016 surgery date. Pre or post op...just someone to chat with. :-)

I've done my own B12 shots for years. Super easy and convenient. I'm curious about the nose spray though...how easy would that be?
