  1. This is what our society has done to the holiday season. It's dusgusting. I will NEVER give this much power to a dollar bill. The buffoonery. It will be a cold day in hell when you see me shopping on thanksgiving or black friday. I cherish the time spent with my loved ones.

Another perspective, I worked at a major retailer that was open 24 hrs per day, 365 days a year (CVS) when I was finishing my engineering degree. Due to some major life events (birth of my daughter during undergrad) I had to work full time there while going to school full time. As such, I worked every holiday I could as I would be paid double time on top of the 8 hours of holiday pay I would get paid out. I worked Thanksgiving and black friday... I worked the midnight Christmas Eve to Christmas morning shift... Easter Sunday, New Years Day, etc. I still got plenty of time to spend with my young family, but that extra cash came in very handy to pay the bills. I don't regret working those days. No obviously mine was a unique situation, but keep in mind there are many people working over the Holidays that want to be there.
