What questions to ask during pre-op appt?
The anesthesiologist called me the day before surgery to see if I had any questions, but I missed the call. He came and talked to me before surgery though. Yes, they did give me something to calm me down (in the IV) before they took me to the OR. It knocked me out, I don't even recall entering the OR. The next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. Stains??? LOL Drains not stains!

Anyone switched from VSG to RNY last minute?
I'm thinking of switching to RNY because I have Gerd. Have you found out what surgery you can get yet? I did get switched to the RNY since my esophagus doesn't work right. I have no GERD, no reflux, nothing like that. Just my esophagus doesn't move food down towards my stomach like it should. I would say switching to the RNY is the scariest part of this. I was totally prepared for the sleeve but the RNY seems like such a bigger surgery.

What does the timeframe look like from initial visit to surgery?
It's really going to depend on so much. It's taken me 11 months. I did the 6 months and then getting everything to the doctor and getting someone to call me back and let me know what else needed to be done was a pain. Faxes didn't make it from point a to point b, etc. Then I ended up needing more testing due to dysphagia that wasn't discovered until about a month ago. You are going to see answers from 6 weeks to a year or more. There is no concrete answer here. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What questions to ask during pre-op appt?
My surgery is in 7 days. Pre-op is tomorrow. So yeah I'm already neck deep in the diet and have done everything else required. So far I'm wondering if I'll have stains and if he will give me something to make me "happy" before taking me to the OR. I feel like I should ask a million more questions. 3 DAYS!
My surgery is in a week and I'm supposed to have my pre-op appointment tomorrow. I've been battling with the doctor's office this whole time (A YEAR!!) in regards to getting people to call me back and get stuff done. My surgery has been pushed back months past what it should have been because of this. I've called all week trying to find out what time my pre-op is tomorrow. I was simply told two weeks ago that it was Thursday. I had to get mean with the little receptionist this morning, poor girl, it's not her fault, but i have to know! Thankfully I stay home and homeschool my daughter so I can go whenever but come on! Anyway, I'm a huge ball of nerves to be honest. Today starts the 4 Protein Shakes a day and I can't stand them any longer (been drinking them for months). I'm eating mostly Oikos Triple Zero yogurt since it has tons of Protein and tastes a million times better. My daughter's 8th birthday is Sunday and we are having a party so I have that to deal with on top of nerves. I'm also dealing with a esophagus that isn't working properly so I'm not sure if I will be switching to bypass or able to stay with a sleeve. I suppose I won't find out until tomorrow. I'm just hoping they don't push my surgery back. I'm so extremely over this. I think most of my nerves are finding out if I am actually having surgery next week or if something else pushes it back. Ugh! Sorry guys, this has just been such a major roller coaster over the last year and the end is in sight..or is it?

Anyone switched from VSG to RNY last minute?
So I was all set to go for my surgery and then I mentioned to the doctor that I felt like food got stuck in my esophagus and that took me down the road of getting an EGD and a esophageal manometry. EGD was fine but just go news the manometry revealed I do have issues with my esophagus not pushing food down properly. It doesn't hurt and really doesn't affect me but I am probably looking at having to switch to RNY. I feel like I know everything about the sleeve and nothing about RNY. I have surgery scheduled in one week. I'll find out for sure on Thursday what's going on and whether I have to switch surgeries. Just wondering if anyone else had dealt with this and switched so late in the game.

whose ready?!
Dec 7th surgery for me. I am definitely freaking out about it but trying to keep my head on straight. I started my 2 week pre-op diet today. I'll be a couple days short of 2 weeks but I had to have thanksgiving. I kept calling it "The Last Supper". I'm so stressed out and I know I'm being a complete butthead to people because after almost a year (yes, had so much trouble with multiple things) it's finally here. I'm not one to normally worry so much but it's the lifestyle change that's got me going. Also i'm worried I will be ridiculously sick after surgery. That's probably my biggest fear.

Spent hours researching and still no clear answer... help please
I was not woken during my study to have a CPAP put on. I did go back for a second sleep study where i wore a CPAP so they knew the pressure I needed. Sleep apnea is sleep apnea and it needs to be treated. Lack of sleep hurts your body in so many ways. It's hard on your heart, the lack of sleep means we are lazier, in other words heavier, etc, etc, etc.

Insurance deductible and oop question
I am an insurance dummy. My doctors office basically told me what I would need to know about but now I'm wondering what I may have to pay at the time of the surgery. I have almost met my deductible but I know I haven't met my oop for the year. Will I have to pay what's left before my surgery? If so I am totally screwed. Looking at a surgery date near the end of September. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Look what's on the Premier Protein website!
I saw banana at costco about a month ago but since then have only seen vanilla and chocolate. They had samples of banana and it was a good flavor but extremely sweet...I say that as a pre-op sweet lover! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Pre op pictures
This is a picture that someone else took. I was in the background and saw myself and about died. I pulled the pic because I wanted to remember how huge I was. This was Valentines 2016. I was at my heaviest 332lbs. I am not 306 and trying to lose more before surgery. This pic disgusts me on so many levels! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Who to tell
Because I know some of my extended family are butt heads I am keeping it to limited people. My wife, my MIL, my mom, my stepdad, a couple close friends. That's it. People already have enough ammunition without you handing them extra. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I went protein crazy!
You can't put it in liquid hotter than 140*. I heat the liquid, usually Water, then test the temp with a thermometer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone looking at an August surgery date?
Had my pcp appointment today and I'm down 5.6 lbs this month. They puts me at 20.something in the last 2 months. I've got 8 more lbs to go before my surgery and at least a month and a half to do it in so I should be fine. Best advice I can give for pre-op patients is don't wait until the 2 week diet or the surgery to start changing your eating habits. I do 2-3 Protein shakes/drinks a day and a low carb dinner. I've bee doing this for 2 months now. I have seen far far too many people flipping out when the 2 week diet time comes and not sure if they can do it and cheating. I think it's best if we prepare ourself physically and mentally. I've also gotten to try many protein products and know which ones I do and don't like. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
