    This x 1000.
Not to mention, all the people on this thread who kept it a secret are also IN THIS THREAD providing help and support to other people. So the argument that it's a disservice not to be public with your surgery holds no Water.

I kept my my surgery a secret, except for my medical team and on forums. It's worked for me. Nobody asks me how I lost weight really.

Yeah, I ended up keeping it a total secret. Leaned heavily on this forum- could not have managed without Bariatric Pal.
All my friends are family are incredibly supportive and positive because they all they see is me eating small healthy portions, exercising and dropping weight and they love that.
I think I saved myself a lot of trouble by keeping it to myself.

Hey Good for you.. When I was 350 lbs, I played Soccer every week, went to the gym 3 times a week, did all sorts of stuff. People would tell me to 'exercise more', when I told them I was active, some would snicker..

I am not running around the streets claiming I am a fitness Guru. Hell I haven't even posted new pics of my self anywhere..
It's usually thin people or those that used to snicker about my weight that ask me about my weight loss, and I tell them, I cut down on my portions. They don't really ask for much more..

When A close friend's obese sister asked me, that she was tired of failing, I told her about bariatric surgery, and even made her call her insurance company to find out. Well she is covered and will be having her surgery in July (hopefully)

Not telling people has nothing to do with being "fake". I don't give WL advice generally. Most people that notice just come to tell me "Good Job" and i say : "thank You" . There was this woman though, (at worst her BMI would have been like 27-28) that said she wanted to lose 10 lbs.. Was I supposed to tell her about Bariatric surgery?

I don't see it as being secretive.
When people ask me why I have one child, I tell them because that is what I wanted. I don't elaborate and say I have an IUD and I know how to keep my knees together.
My body is no one else's business.

I've been working on a field project all week alongside a local facility. My coworker joked that we admired the facility workers t shirts (we didn't, but they took us seriously) and their CEO stopped me before I left to gift me with some. He handed them to me and said "sorry, those are the smallest sizes we have."

Hi July Sleevers! I'm down to 146, BMI of 28.5 and still chugging along. I don't even remember surgery and the initial post op stages at this point lol. I can eat whatever I want as well, just small amounts of it and I've become accustomed to focusing on dense Protein. I love the newfound energy, the confidence, and all the new clothes. I'm looking to at least another 16 lbs, but I'm also focusing on getting toned. NSVs and good vibes abound.

There are a lot of people that post these great loses on forums but they don't post how they are getting them.
There is a poster, that used to post here, I haven't seen her in while. Yeah she lost a ton of weight in very beginning but she did because she was not getting any Protein in. She was living off like Water and gatorade. She was posting all the time how she was starving. Then 6 months later she was posting about her great loses and her new life, she she left out the part where she didn't have any nutrition the first 6 weeks. People that were new were patting her on the back and congratulating her on her great loss, not knowing how she got there.
Follow your program and you will lose. You are not going to lose as fast as you did, when you were 400 lbs. I lost my first 100 lbs very fast. That last 100 is much slower but still fast compared to people who have not had surgery. This is a life long thing. Not a sprint. Keep your eyes on the long term goals, which is good health, not just dropping weight as fast as possible.

Agreed. Exercise is necessary for good health, but not for weight loss.

My husband is one of those metabolically blessed humans who can pretty much eat/drink whatever he pleases and stays within a 5 lb swing range with exercise. Being with me for 28 years has taught him that he's not disciplined as much as blessed...he's watched me struggle with yo-yo-ing up and down, trying diet after diet and watching it all come back regardless of what I do. As my college kids would say, the man is 'woke' and understands that what's a simple cup of rice for him is a food that will cause an action, a reaction and a full-blown fight for me with my genetics and metabolism. He's also an MD and I envy his patients...no simplistic 'calories in < calories out = weight loss' brush-offs from him. He GETS it

I have celiac so it's absolutely essential that I avoid gluten in its entirety. I have several food allergies as well but none developed post sleeve, they were all pre existing.
The gluten free diet plays nicely with good nutrition post-op. Personally I think we have an advantage over those who are tempted by Cookies, Pasta, pizza, bread etc because we simply can't eat them. You just have to watch for hidden sources of gluten, like soy sauce, anything with modified corn starch as an ingredient, etc.

I was 5'0 and 214 day of surgery in July. Now I'm 145, which is still overweight for such a petite height. No one would describe me as skinny and if I'd never gotten so fat and never had surgery I would still be trying to lose 20+ lbs.
So I'm still working on losing, but I feel fucking great!

If it's genetic, you should expect shrinking in both areas but not total loss lol!
the women in my family have big boobs and no butts. At 6 months post op, my butt is almost nonexistent but I'm happy with my boobs. They're still big and round. I went from a 36 DD to a 32G, I sometimes wear a size 30 band depending on the bra.

As for the butt? I'm confident that with some butt building exercise I can get some curves back in that area!
