  1. I tried it this past weekend at 5 weeks post - op. My plan allows salad after a month. I had some black kale and parmesan salad at one of my favorite restaurants after getting some Protein in with grilled octopus. I was scared it would cause issues because so many people have problems with lettuce and salad but it went down fine and was crazy delicious. This was a late dinner - around 10:30 pm and the octopus was my final needed protein for a day so I still had enough room for the kale. That's another reason I hadn't tried it yet, not sure when I will have room for salad again.
  2. I'm just saving for plastic surgery - I'm assuming I'll need at least a full tummy tuck and some work done on my boobs. It's a good reward to work towards. The sleeve ended up costing me almost nothing thanks to my insurance, so I'm using some money I set aside for that to freeze my eggs this year and the rest goes into the plastic surgery fund. It's a long way off for me, but I'm looking forward to it !
  3. I'm all for not telling at the early stage of a relationship. Just my personal opinion. I went on a date to a baseball game last week and it was so easy. No talk of food.
  4. Can you suggest a date that doesn't involve sitting down to eat? Like an activity? More fun anyway.
  5. I can't wait until I can sprint for the gate without getting so out of breath I feel like I'm gonna die. Since I am ALWAYS cutting it too close.
  6. What's your skinny margarita recipe @@Dub ? I nailed down a perfect recipe but haven't indulged since about a month pre-op. Not sure it qualifies as skinny though, since it has an oz of freshly squeezed lime juice per cocktail. I rim the glass with lime zest and salt.
  7. Also, PSA: My Fitness Pal has an erroneous entry for my preferred brand of tequila (Espolon) that says it has 15 g of protein for serving. Don't input that....it's wrong. Tequila is not a protein rich food, no matter what your computer tells you.
  8. You? I love. Interesting! I'm undecided on you ????
  9. For me, I felt like I had overdone it on an abdominal workout for about 3 days post op. Especially as I got up and down from sitting or laying in bed. That was the worst of it.
  10. Not sure when I last posted here. I'm down 29 lbs at 5 weeks post op. My number one thing right now is planning, planning, planning. Planning is the master key to getting in all your protein and fluids and keep up with a busy day. Pack cheese and yogurt even if you don't think you'll need it. It's saved me! Also, everyone notices my weight loss. Most people tell me I look younger, and that my skin is glowing. Best decision ever.
  11. I'm compelled to share my individual experience for a couple of reasons. 1- because I'm incredibly self-absorbed and love talking about myself and 2- because you guys are the only people who know I've had surgery besides my medical team. I'm following my surgeons plan, and if I'm curious as to why his plan differs from someone else's on the board in a way that I think would benefit me I ask him about it. My experiences are not your validation to cheat on your plan. Don't make me not want to talk about myself. My ego will suffer.
  12. The last pounds you gain are the first pounds you have to lose. Alternately, the first pounds you lose are the last you will ever gain back.
  13. @@CLN.BK $16/ pack? You must be a fellow New Yorker.
  14. @@LipstickLady Chicharrones! They sell them on the beach. I've never had them but love saying it.
  15. @@LowBMISleever who is having candy bars and champagne? They sound fun and I'd like to meet them. Are the candy bars the kind with pop rocks in them ?????
  16. Hear, hear @@ShelterDog64 And trust me, the second I stop losing weight the tequila is the first to go ???? But mainly because I don't have cheez its to eliminate instead.
  17. I got a wine shipment from one of my California vineyard clubs yesterday...I racked them in the basement and walked away. I KNOW I'm not ready for red wine yet Ooooh what did you get? I'm crazy for a good Napa Valley Cab. I'm not ready for wine either. White wine was my surgeons first suggestion but I haven't really had anything with sugar content since surgery so I've steered clear. It's too hot for red. A nice Sancerre though.... This is wine from Carmel Valley...I got 3 pinot noirs from Talbott. They're really more my husband's wine, I'm a huge fan of big, fat Zins and Cabs :-) My favorite wines of all time are the Zinfandels that Ridge produces. I've been having them shipped to me for 20 years, yum! Right now, I've only had some Oregon pinot gris, and small amounts. For some reason wine makes me a little nervous? Wine makes me nervous too. I think that's a good thing. I've always known that one small glass of incredibly good wine is satisfying enough but we've all had those nights where the bottles are flowing. I'm not looking to have one of those nights again post op for a lonnnnnng time. Plus I'm doing well and don't want to introduce the carbs/calories. But ask me again when I'm at an airport, my flight is delayed for 2 hours, and the bar is offering The Prisoner by the glass. Why do airport bars always have the best reds?!?! I'm a fan of the big fat ones too. Dark and chewy are how I like them. High fruit content. My favorite wine shop has started raving about the big Zins but I haven't tried any of them yet. You'll have to teach me about them when I'm ready! Until then it's the occasional petite glass of espolon and soda which I've somehow rendered guilt-free.

  19. That's awesome @@OutsideMatchInside ! At size 12 you can start wearing a lot of the Italian designers. And Chanel.
  20. I don't think it's standard operating procedure for him. Maybe he just thought I was special. Or a lush. Imma' lush. For realz... Me too. A total wino pre-op. The euphemism I like to use is oenophile. I haven't visited my wine collection for almost 3 months at this point. The lush tendencies are on hold indefinitely....I'll see how that goes when I get to goal.

  22. At my 1 week visit my surgery team told me I would be cleared for alcohol at 2 weeks post op. We discussed it at length- the different drink options, what kind of drinks I usually order. I pretty much exclusively stick to tequila and soda Water and they were fine with that- but stressed that I avoid stuff that's very caloric and sugary like margaritas, flavored alcohols etc. I was surprised by their approach but I trust my surgeon. And I appreciate that he trusts me to make my own good decisions. Since that talk, I had about a half of a Bloody Mary at 3 weeks post op, and a half a tequila and soda on 2 occasions. I'm 5 weeks out now. Each time I made sure I was getting all my Protein and upped the water intake for the day. The drinks hit me more than they have in the past, hence why I haven't finished any of them.
  23. True that- it is a seriously bad a s s NSV
