    Vindication!

That is pretty awesome! Good for you.
  2. Hi July Sleevers! I'm down to 146, BMI of 28.5 and still chugging along. I don't even remember surgery and the initial post op stages at this point lol. I can eat whatever I want as well, just small amounts of it and I've become accustomed to focusing on dense protein. I love the newfound energy, the confidence, and all the new clothes. I'm looking to at least another 16 lbs, but I'm also focusing on getting toned. NSVs and good vibes abound.

    Update broke forums

I'm receiving unwanted email notifications and never did before the update. How do I opt out?
  4. I had surgery in early July, but I'm checking in here anyway. I'm really happy with how quickly I lost and how I've adjusted to the diet. My loss has slowed over the last couple of months but there's still a downward trend. I was 214 day of surgery and this morning weighed 146. My surgeon recommended I get down to around 140 but I'd like to keep pushing past that as I'm only 5 feet tall
  5. I have celiac so it's absolutely essential that I avoid gluten in its entirety. I have several food allergies as well but none developed post sleeve, they were all pre existing. The gluten free diet plays nicely with good nutrition post-op. Personally I think we have an advantage over those who are tempted by cookies, pasta, pizza, bread etc because we simply can't eat them. You just have to watch for hidden sources of gluten, like soy sauce, anything with modified corn starch as an ingredient, etc.

    Hair Loss - Please help!

I have had good regrowth experience with both Nioxin and Phytocane. I did an entire cycle of topically applied Phytocane starting about a month after surgery and I have a significant amount of visible regrowth/baby hairs now at 6 months post. I lost a lot of hair from 3-5 months post op. It would just fall out in my hand. But now that I see the regrowth I'm not too worried.

How fast can you return to work ?

I was traveling for work overseas 2 1/2 week post op and was fine. I did have serious fatigue for a couple of days about a week post op, but otherwise had a very easy and energetic recovery. Experiences vary!

Advancing your diet- on your own

I was terrified of complications as well so yeah, I followed my plan to the letter. That said, my post op plan want as torturous as some others seem to have been- I was allowed well chewed soft food after 2 weeks.

    Shoe size?

    I went from a 7 down to a 6.

    Hair loss prevention

I had a bad experience in the past where Biotin caused an increase in body and facial hair growth so I skipped it this time around. I had very thick hair but lost a significant amount starting at 3 months post op. I'm 6 months post now and it seems to have slowed down. I have been using products that apply directly to the scalp since surgery and have seen good new growth so I'm confident eventually my hair will grow back to the way it was before. The products I've been using are Nioxon and Phytocane serum. The biggest change for me is having to use volumizing, texturizing and thickening styling products when in the past I used to use products that tamed my hair and made it sleek.

What Is Your Holiday Party Strategy?

Straight 2 the charcuterie platter. But also, eat beforehand if I don't think there will be options for me. And stand around slaying in a better outfit than everyone else while holding my 1 drink.
  12. Next year we can buy expensive new coats I guess. And it will be worth it. I actually LOVE shopping vintage but the stores in NYC are sooo picked over and the "high end" thrift shops are expensive. I'll send you a PM.
  13. It was you! I saw this at the grocery store and remember reading on here somewhere "if you see bread cheese- grab it!" IT IS SO GOOD. To me it tastes just like a grilled cheese. I hate cooking but I've been keeping the cast Iron pan out just for the bread cheese. I've been having about 1.5 oz every other day. It is beyond. So amazing.

    Bubble baths?

I am such a bathtub girl. I was allowed in pools and the ocean after 2 weeks. I remember asking because I was traveling at the time. At 5 months post-op the tub is so much roomier. I absolutely love it. This thread inspired me to take an epic oil bath last night, I stayed in there for the entire Amy winehouse album. You have a lot to look forward to!
  15. Ugh. I hate when grown men act like whiny babies.
  16. Carbonation doesn't really stretch it either. I drink a lot of Perrier myself but mostly before or in between meals. It can be really painful too soon after a meal (even waiting an hour might not be enough) and I'm not sure that will ever change. Same goes for champagne. How far out are you? I desperately miss seltzer but am afraid as I heard it can be very uncomfortable Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 5 months post-op. I never had a restriction on seltzer so I believe I had my first around 3 weeks post-op. I have no issues with it on an empty stomach, but the sole time I've thrown up post-op was from drinking seltzer too soon after a meal of dense Protein. It was like an hour after I ate steak and the seltzer was super bubbly. So now I won't drink seltzer if I feel any fullness in my stomach after a meal. But in between and beforehand- totally as refreshing as ever. And a good way to get in Water and minerals.
  17. Seriously? Because if you drink after you eat you will flush the food into your intestines and make room in your stomach for more food. This will eventually lead to regaining the weight you worked so hard to lose. But what about BEFORE you eat?I think you are being purposely obtuse. Ask your doctor. My surgeon doesn't require I wait to drink Water BEFORE I start eating. I'm not being obtuse. You just didn't answer my question.
  18. Sizes are a nightmare. I am really struggling with clothes right now. I have to look pretty nice at my job so I have to devote wardrobe money to keeping up with well fitting nice work clothes. Which means my weekend and party clothes suffer, which is really bumming me out. I ordered a pair of Joe's size 29 jeans that fit perfect but I'm thinking I'll return them for the 28 because for over $100 I should get at least a month out of a pair of jeans. I also want a new winter coat for this year- but seems silly since it will hopefully be too big next winter. I have no idea how much more my sizes will change and go down so it's really a waiting game. I know when I am closer to goal/maintenance the size difference will be negligible so I'll deal when I get there.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

Still plugging along post-op. I think I must look even shorter to people as I lose. I get so many "you're such a tiny person!" comments now even though I'm still obese.

  23. Amazing where a good attitude and hard work will get you! You are awesome.
  24. @@OutsideMatchInside That's unfortunate but believable. My weight definitely holds me back in my career. I've already started getting better assignments since losing. It's a combination of being perceived differently by others and an increase in my own ability to focus and perform as I get healthier. It's not fair that people perceive the obese as less capable, less smart, less hard working but it's definitely a thing.

    Weighthe loss rate

I was sleeved on 7/7/16. HW 221 SW 214 I have my breakdown of loss by month: June -7 July -16 August -15 September -8 October -7 November -9 I've seen others on this board who have lost at the same rate as I have or even faster express disappointment in their loss. But personally I'm thrilled and my rate of loss has exceeded my expectations so far.
