I KNOW I can eat more than I should

Yes! Testing your sleeve is akin to splashing bleach in your eyes to see if your safety goggles work, IMO. Heh. I'll try and remember that one.

I KNOW I can eat more than I should

I'm 3 months out and don't seem to have a crazily restrictive capacity like others on here as well. I feel satisfied on 2-3 oz of Protein at a time tho so I really try not to push it. Measuring, making sure I'm sticking to healthy sleeved choices- that's the only way. I'm pretty sure I could eat a fairly big amount of total greasy carby junk if I wanted. I only know I don't have serious restriction because of a few times I pushed to 5-6 oz of protein- chicken, burger meat, fish. Not ideal either and I shouldn't be doing that. I feel like it's about fighting to establish best practices early on until they become a way of life.

    Reselling clothes

I'm debating trying poshmark for some of my nicer pieces. Has anyone had luck with them?

    Vent session

I didn't pay attention to the total financial tally of my pre-op testing, so I can't relate to that. But I will say that one of the endless required tests revealed an underlying auto immune condition that requires treatment I don't think I would have ever known about otherwise. Probably could have gone decades getting sicker and sicker. They also painted a total picture of the state of my health for which I am grateful. So there are major potential upsides to all the cost and appointments. Just another perspective.
  5. Less patient. In a good way. The fatter I was, the more I functioned like a doormat.
  6. I feel noticed again. No longer invisible and written off from the get-go. It's not fair that people make snap judgments of the obese, but it happens all the time and at 3 months out its already less of an issue in my life.

    What is your favorite snack?

I'm still hooked on sugar free Popsicles. And babybel cheese.

    Twinkie Twit

This thread is terrifying and making me so grateful I live in an apartment building in a big city.

    3 months Post-Op

You're trippin'. 47 lbs is a big ton of weight in just 3 months.

    Good calories?

I'm 3 months out too and I easily get over 800 calories a day. Sometimes up over 1000. I am terrified of destroying my metabolism and being stuck on an extremely low calorie diet forever. My staples are lots of cheese, 4% cottage cheese, chicken + turkey (grilled, roasted, baked, ground), sashimi, yogurt, lamb, perky turkey Jerky. Whole milk in my coffee.
  11. It really depends. Some people on here have a HARD time recovering. I'm relatively young and recovered really well from surgery. I traveled at 2.5 weeks out for a 2 week period and was fine. I was pretty active- hiking, swimming, boogie boarding, walking many miles a day etc. I felt amazing. I'm an avid skier myself and I think I would have been fine to hit the slopes a month post op. Maybe more tired than usual, but would have been doable for me. My only concern would be carrying the equipment. Check on your lifting restrictions with your surgeon. If I recall correctly, I had no lifting restrictions after 2 weeks but might be different for you.

    Sizes clearly mean nothing

Interesting! Will try it out. Thank you!

    Sizes clearly mean nothing

Best item I every bought while I was losing? A dress clip. It cinches in items at the waist by clipping it to to spots in the back. Got so much more wear out of clothing and it made it flattering! Search on Amazon and you will see them. In a pinch a mitten clip works too I'm looking on Amazon but confused. Tell me more please. Does it go outside your clothing or underneath? Thank you.

    PB2

I use the peanut butter & co brand because it has a little less added sugar and I like it. Only when I really really need to satisfy fix.

    Scars

My dermatologist recommended biocorneum and I've been using that. I might get them lasered in a few months if they still really bug me.

    Sizes clearly mean nothing

I'm eager to wear fitted clothes to show off my loss and because I think they just look better but it's HARD. Not wearing stupid generic plus sized clothes anymore has reminded me how difficult it is to dress as a really short curvy woman. If I had more money to blow I would have everything tailored even as I lose. Nipped at the waist. But I have to deal with some ill-fitting or loose clothing for awhile I think.

Ugh no. Weight came out of my butt right away. The last place I wanted to lose.
  18. I was on full liquids for 1 week immediately after surgery, which meant Protein shakes. I used commercial (yes, "processed") protein powders and added them to my preferred brand of milk. After that, I was told to move on to pureed and soft foods for the next two weeks. Beans, soft fish, tofu, soft cheese, any meat that was soft and "juicy." After those 2 weeks- have at it. So it was really only a 7 day period post-op that I was heavily restricted. I did continue to use Protein Shakes through the soft food period because I had surgeon mandated protein targets that I personally could not have hit without them. I'm 10 weeks post op now, I don't even remember the liquid phase at this point. It flew by. Some surgeons have less conservative plans than mine, some have more. You'll see a big variety on the board. Also- some people have difficult recoveries and have great trouble swallowing for some time post-op and have to stay on liquids. Something else to keep in mind.

How have your taste buds changed?

I was never a super sweet tooth to begin with but now post-op natural sugars come through tenfold. Strawberries taste like sugar bombs to me now. It's kind of nice actually.
  21. I don't need an rx to use my FSA card to pay for vitamins.

So where are 30 somethings shopping?

I like Denim & Supply at Macy's. I've been really trying to shop but have a couple of events this month and had to do it. I bought a Marc Jacobs dress that's not ugly. I tried stuff on in Diesel tonight and I fit. They have nice things. But I'm really trying not to shop too much.
  23. It should not take long to get an answer. I agree with everyone else that you need to escalate this matter ASAP.

    Charleyhorse?

I've actually had these a few times since surgery. They suck. I try to drink smart water or other mineral waters that have electrolytes as much as possible but some days I forget.
  25. I was also asked repeatedly to state what surgery I was having (and to confirm my name and DOB over and over.) At least 5 times from intake to the OR. Every new hospital staffer I encountered asked me to confirm these details.
