    Transfer Addiction: Fashion

This is actually one of my Hubby's concerns. When I am smaller, I shop a lot more. He already said he hopes he doesn't go back to finding my shopping bags hidden in the trunk or all over the house lol However, I now try to live credit card free- so I've set a $100 monthly clothing budget and hope to stick to it. Since I was a yoyo dieter, I should be able to shop my closet for another month or 2.

    Dr visits Post-op

I had one week post op visit with my surgeon's NP. I did receive a release for work, but that was at my request because my HR required it. Since I work a desk job, my surgical team was OK with me deciding how long I wanted to stay off work. I will have a one month post op visit with the Nut and then a 6 week follow up with my surgeon's NP again. In regards to bp and bs, both of those had to be controlled prior to hospital discharge. They checked my bp at my one week post op, however, any issues would have been referred to my primary care for follow up.

    My first puréed meal

Just book marked her page. I start puree on Thurs!
  4. I was very petite and underweight when I was young. 5'2" and 95 lbs in high school. Even having kids very young (16 and 18 ) and being borderline gestational diabetes with both pregnancies, I lost the weight right away. I went on the depo shot in my early twenties and gained 60lbs in one year along with acne and horrible headaches. I think the hormones in the depo kicked off my struggle with PCOS. Then I started the yoyo dieting with the only success coming from Phentermine. Each time coming off, I'd gain the weight back just a little bit quicker. I had been on and off the diet drug for the last twelve years until my hbp finally got too high and no doctor would prescribe it anymore.

    Milestone!

    Awesome!
  6. I'm one week post op today and I've been having night sweats since I came home. It's single digits here and I'm sleeping in a Cami and shorts. I don't have a fever or any other signs of infection, so I'm assuming it's because the surgery has my hormones out of whack. Did anyone else have night sweats? If so, how long did they last?

    Night Sweats?

Thanks, I do have sleep apnea and have been lax in using my CPap since surgery since it's been difficult to find a comfortable sleep position. I'll make sure to wear my mask tonight and see if it happens again.

    Post op appointment

I'm not sure why they told me to wait till my one week post op appointment, maybe because I also had a hernia repair. My hubby went back to work Tuesday and I've been bored to tears!

    How much is enough

My post op put me on full liquids the day I came home from the hospital. I found 2 oz serving containers in the party section of my local Walmart and I put my yogurt, soup, sf jello, sf pudding, etc into those. I also bought baby spoons. Using that container and the baby spoon, it takes me 20-30 minutes to eat.

    Post op appointment

Mine is today too! I can't wait to get cleared to drive today!!
  11. For home, a long handled shower poof has been a godsend this week. No straining to get my back or legs. I also had a hernia repair and my husband bought me one of those back pillows that have the arms. It made getting in and out of bed a lot easier.
  12. Thanks for the feedback, I know it's best not to try and compare especially when each plan is so different.
  13. Does that include hospital gain? I came home from surgery 5lbs heavier than I went in. I'll be 1 week post op tomorrow and down 7 lbs but was up 5 so really only down 2. Just a little frustrated because I'm getting all my protein and liquid in and walking.

    African American vsgers!

I couldn't have any makeup or polish for surgery. But I don't know if they would have included the lashes in the makeup or not since I don't wear them. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

    African American vsgers!

that's exactly why I got my hair braided before surgery. One less thing to worry about. Plus I'm natural and I didn't want to be struggling trying to comb it with my incisions still sore.

    African American vsgers!

I have sleep apnea and have had a CPap machine for about 2 years. I cannot wait to get rid of that machine!

    African American vsgers!

Everything went fine. They found a hiatal hernia so that made it take longer. Already up and walking hoping to go home tomorrow at noon
  18. Has anyone else had problems with their FMLA request? I am more than a little frustrated today. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 14th and I submitted my FMLA paperwork on November 30th , as soon as I received a date. I hadn't heard anything from my HR yet so I finally emailed them yesterday and they are now saying my surgeon did not give them enough information because he only certified that I am having surgery and the dates I need to be off of work for the surgery. They state he must tell them the exact surgery I am having and my medical diagnosis. So now I am going to have to scramble and get an updated form from my doctor's office. I also don't feel it should be any of their business to get an exact diagnosis or surgery. My MD is certifying on the form that it is a serious medical condition with treatment, that should be enough! Did anyone else have issues getting their FMLA approved?
  19. I'm scheduled a day after you on the 14th!

    Pre op diet.

I'm one week into my 2 week preop diet. It consists of 2 shakes a day either protein or no sugar carnation instant breakfast, nonfat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, steamed or raw veggies and fruit. ( they gave a couple of different meal plans switching up the servings on these so the amount varies). I can also have up to 64 oz of low calorie sugar free fluids like crystal light, unsweetened iced tea, water, sf jello, sf popsicle, or broth.

    FMLA vent

FMLA is just a federal mandate that protects your employment when you need to take time off for medical care for yourself or a family member. It does not address whether or not the time will be paid. At my employer, they require you to apply for FMLA if you will need to be off for 3 or more days, regardless of whether or not you are using benefits ( sick, vacation, std). I do have std but our benefits don't kick in until after 21 days off, so unfortunately, I won't be off long enough for it to kick in

    FMLA vent

Maybe one of the HR folks can chime in. I was told FMLA is to protect your job in the event you need a medical leave but it is completely separate from pay. I will be using my sick/vacation time for pay.
  23. Do you have a New York & Company, The Limited or H& M near you? I have yo-yo dieted for my entire adult life and whenever I got below plus size those were my stores of choice. They have cute, trendy clothes that are mature without being matronly and they always have great clearances too! It will be a very happy day for me when I can shop at New York & Company again! Great job and good luck on your continued loss!
