I had my band 3 1/2yrs and was revised to RNY in February. I am happy with my decision. I have almost lost in 5 1/2mon with the RNY what I had lost the whole time with the band. Goodluck and keep us posted.

Update- I weighed this morning. I had been in a plateau, I have now lost 40lbs! Revision was Feb 22. This is slow, but I have arthritis in my left foot and am unable to walk much. I am pleased! I may have surgery on the foot in Aug. This month I was battling kidney stones!

Absolutely!
I am currently 4 months post Revision. I'm down a total of 65 pounds and feeling great! I have developed a motility issue with my bowels, but that's minor now that we have it figured out. Was extremely frustrating when it first started. I'm in the 197 range. Seriously slowed down weight loss at month 3 and 4. Haven't been able to be as active as I want/need to be. Bad back.

I am in my 3rd month too and have slowed. I went 2wks with no lose at all. Frustrating. I have arthritis in my foot and I cannot walk for exercise. Hang in there.

I am now 3 months out from RNY...35lbs off! This is the least I have weighed in 15yrs. Depressing that I still need X size clothes. Oh well, didnt happen overnight so it isnt gonna come off overnight. I am so glad I did this. First 10 days were the hardest thing I have done. I was so exhausted, but that was because I was re-couping and had no Protein. I feel so much better than I have in years.

Spartan..thanks for your response well said.

I had the band 8-07..lost almost 60lbs in about 6mon,gained 20 back.Just had revision to RNY 2-22-11. I am having some heartburn, not eating much..any thoughts?
-
A lot of results and side effects are based on each individual. I have not had any problem with having to go to the restroom immediately after eating. I have not had a gas problem either but I am not a month out yet.I hope I dont develop a gas problem...ewwwww.

I just had my band removed 2-22,and had a RNY. 16lbs lose so far. Not sure where that figure 1 in 5 gastric bypass fail. Ive never heard that.I had lost 60lbs on the band in 3.5yrs and then gained 20 back. Dr could never get the restriction at a good place for me.

The trend is that doctors are doing more and more revisions from lapband to RNY.I think the more you have to lose the better choice is the RNY,just my opinion.

Revised 2-22-11, lost 12lbs when I went in 1 wk after surgery. On eggs, cottage cheese, refried Beans, sf popsicles,sf Jello, deli turkey/chicken.. Still have cravings for things I shouldnt eat. Also I have tried Syntrax Nectar in vanilla Bean Torte, and chocolate Mousse (I believe) really like both. Also, tried Bariatric Fusion Cappucino WONDERFUL. Anyone know a good place for lowest prices? Still somewhat sore at this point where drain was.But it was a relief to get that out.Having stamina/energy problems, but Doc says that will improve as I get on a regular regime of Proteins, supplements and Vitamins.< /p>
Now I need to figure out how to update my ticker!

I had a surgeon appt 1 week ago today. Dr agrees we should go for GB since I am no longer losing. I have an EGD scheduled for 1st week of Oct. Then later I have an appt with the nutritionist. Have been trying to talk with as many people as I can that have already had GB. Glad there are others out there to draw from on this experience.

Anyone had Medicare pay for lapband to Bypass revision, if so how long ago did you do this an what state? Thanks, I am hoping to get this done. Waiting for response from Insurance person at my Dr's office. PLEASE PM me, I dont always get responses thru here.

Thanks for your response. Terry have you been revised to GB? I am hoping to be able to get this done.I have a LONG way to go in my weightloss.I do believe I still meet the original criteria for bariatric surgery. So hopefully the insurance gal at my Dr's office can find out what she needs so we can get this scheduled.

Has anyone that has Medicare had a revision to Gastric Bypass and it be covered?
-
I have a question...I am 3 yrs out from getting my band. I have lost 60lbs and now gained 16 back. I just went to talk with my Dr today about doing a revision to Gastric Bypass. Has anyone with Medicare had a revision?
-
I would not have went with Lapband, I would have had Gastric Bypass. I am almost 3 yrs out, and am at 50lbs loss. I will take the 50lb loss, but really thought I would have lost more by now.

Oh well, something to fun to try and fool around with.

I read about this in a magazine-
*download a full frontal picture of yourself
*plugin your current weight and height
It shows you a printable picture of yourself slimmer.
Check it out, kinda neat!!!

Toosey- I too have second guessed myself on this surgery. I think that had I gone with bypass, all this weight would be gone. I have been stuck at my current weight now for going on a year. Very disappointing. I am unable to get practically any exercise due to back problems and a 4 yr foot problem. I need to get the weight off to help both of these but cant exercise because of both of these problems. Really frustrating! I had the insurance problem in the beginning to get approval, so I had plenty of time to read up and know the facts. But, I just felt like it would be different than it has been. One day I can eat something, the next day it gets stuck. I PB several times a month. I have had close calls getting to the restroom before I loose it too. I thought by now I would be down 100lbs easily. Next month is my 2 yr bandiversary, I am bummed. I am glad I have lost what I have, but I want more!!!!!

HiI a new to the sixties forum and I just discovered it today while I was lurking around Lap Band Talk;
I was banded on 1/16/09 and so far I have lost 50lbs. Is it unusual to lose 50lbs in 4 months?

Goodluck, I had revision from band to bypass in Feb. I am 56,dont know your age. Recuperation was longer than I thought. But all has been worth it. I am a slow loser...53lbs right now. But I have been unable to exercise and I think that has made it slow. I am going to Curves now. I feel so much better. I should have done bypass in the 1st place. I am in Kansas.
