Thanks for the article. I usually eat between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. I discussed the other blood thinner options and was told they were not tested on anyone my size, so they couldn't say for sure they would work. Said we will discuss it again after I get more weight off. Your menu looks pretty good. Think I will try that next week. Thank you for responding.

I'm a little bit less than you are and I am taking lovenox shots because I had blood clots before and at that time I was 400 pounds...the shots work just fine they just need the right dosage

Nice! Im planning to order 2 cases today because my Walmart doesn't carry in store. But I was thinking about purchasing a case of the lemonade and a case of coconut. Have you tried those flavors and are they any good?
I've tried so far lemonade and grape...I like them both...I bought the other flavors to try as well...you can find them in local grocery stores too

I was sleeved on the 7th and had a massive hernia repaired too. I was so nauseous day one in the hospital that I could barely walk. I'm now 6 days out and off my percoset (crushing it and trying to get it down was soooo horrible), and just trying to get my liquids in. The main reason I went off the pain meds is bc they would zonk me out and I'd sleep for hours instead of being awake and sipping fluids all day. I had a nonfat Greek yogurt yesterday with granulated Monk Fruit sweeter and that went down well. I too feel some pressure from liquids and then get odd sounds. I think a lot of us have trapped gas too. I've had some relief with gas x dissolvable strips.
I actually tolerated a muscle milk 40g Protein shake...but that pain still comes...it feels like a contraction I have to breathe it out to go away...it took an hour to drink the shake

Unfortunately, this is a common side effect of intubation. Especially for us who are over weight. Its harder for the person with the laryngoscopy to be able to see our vocal cords due to us having short and very cubby neck lines. While we are very careful while manipulating the soft tissue of the throat its still not an easy process at times and soft tissue unfortunately can become damaged.
Time is the only cure. It hurts so bad because its on the top layer of skin where most of the nerves are!
As you can see in the image attached the blade has to go clear down into the vallecula. Which is right above where your vocal cords are! Lots of soft tissue that has never/rarely been touched by any metal!
That explains a lot....my throat is still hurting I'm Day 3 post op...and my chest...the hoarseness is better but I'm coughing a lot too

After my RNY gastric bypass surgery, I found that softer foods such as chili and Soups went down much easier than harder foods such as steak and chicken, so that is what I concentrated on. I have included some recipes at the end of the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf
I loved reading ur experience!!!!

Thank you for your positive words and for telling me about the Protein20 coconut pineapple water!!! That is my favorite flavor, so I know I'm going to enjoy that. Where did you find it/buy it? I'm going to look at Walmart tomorrow---that's what came up when I Googled it. Amazon did too.
My surgery is on the 17th and so I am trying to get everything ready.

I don't think Walmart has it...the local grocery store does though...I'm 2 days post op feeling good driving already going back to work Monday...it's just hard getting the fluids in....I'm sipping along but then I get this pain...it's a cross between a hunger/gas pain that bridges my upper stomach...they want 60oz of fluids and I'm only on about 12oz....popsicles help a lot

I just had my surgery yesterday on 8/9. No nausea my dr put a patch behind my ear for that.... no pain really...some pressure occasionally for gas....stomach feels like I did 1000 sit ups lol. They have been giving me liquid Tylenol and toporal for pain round the clock...so then I shouldn't have Constipation from meds...walked around the floor 4 times yesterday...

Gall bladder Did the er check your gall bladder? Pain radiating from front to back is often related to the gall bladder. It's usually under the ribs though.
I get left shoulder pain which is very common after vsg.

Hi SGC I do understand what you are saying, but I would not like to be paraded around in such a way for the entertainment of others. Why must people be humiliated and degraded in order to be able to get a life saving surgery.
They signed off on it...it was done with their permission...

Good luck to everyone having surgery this week! Mine is Tuesday. The preop diet is killing me which has made me truly ready for the surgery. Sorry to be a whiner lmao but I'm so ready for them to cut my stomach off so I'm not this starving all the time!
Mine is Wednesday 8/9....I'm nervous and excited at the same time

Don't weigh yourself after working out...your muscles have expanded with blood flowing through... you would have to check the next day to get an accurate reading

I just got back from my pre-op appointment and PAT. I've had tons of surgeries but this one has me spooked. I love my surgeon- he's kind and thoughtful, and also director of the bariatric program for the entire hospital system. I keep second guessing my decision. I'm self-pay, so that's a very big part of my worry. So very expensive.
Where are u having ur surgery?
No weight loss first week??

I've been feeling down for the same reason...I'm 4 days post op and only 2# lost....I'm thinking maybe this might not work for me...I have been following everything exactly...my dr did have to remove a lot of scarred tissue because I had the lapband removed in 2010. I'm hoping it's just swelling delaying the loss...[emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]
