Ahhh, my first posting!  Hello! I am a large woman, tall AND overweight.  Skinny as a girl, and didn't really gain weight until the kids came along.  Baby weight is hard to lose, I've tried and tried.  Now my oldest is 43 and you'd think for all the trying, I'd manage to keep the weight off!

I met a lady at work that had lost 100+ pounds, and she'd had the surgery a little over a year ago.  Even though I know other people who'd had the surgery, I never considered it...until now.  Maybe I'm finally ready.  So right now, I'm in the process.  I don't have a surgery date, but I'm within 3 lbs of losing the 5% body weight my surgeon requires, and except for the psychologist, I've completed every other requirement.  I'm not nervous or worried about the surgery, just want to get it DONE.

The sleeve is my choice of surgery for a lot of reasons, mostly because it doesn't re-route the intestines, and having a "blind stomach" in there for no reason makes no sense to me.  My mother died of stomach cancer--what if the blind stomach that's not attached to anything gets cancer?  How would I know?  I've had colon cancer already. That was nearly symptomless and that body part was attached!  So, my feeling is that if I'm not using that part of my stomach, it just seems cleaner for it to go.

My main issue right now is being patient for what seems to be an infinite time frame until I get a surgery date.  And not gaining back what I lose prior to surgery.  How do I stay motivated?  I'm hoping this will help.  Thanksgiving is next week.  That's going to be hard....
