  1. samantha! I am having the SAME problems! I am an emotional wrek! What happened? Did they have to open youre stomach back up? Please tell me this gets better :(

Hi nikki. You have food trapping problem. it happened with me when I got my band removed. Don't worry, it will get better.

Food trapping is seen in several gastric banding patients and is treated by deflating the band entirely until the food passes through.

  2. I made a different post, and I guess I should try to rephrase it. I was wondering if the surgery could affect the vocal cords or the diaphragm. I'm in a band and singing is an important part of my life and I just want to feel more secure that nothing will change after the procedure. I see a lot of forums about problems with the esophagus. And it makes me nervous. And the diaphragm is in the stomach region. I asked my surgeon and he seemed unsure. I've tried asking a few others and I have yet to get a response which makes me even more nervous. Can someone please let me know if I am risking my singing vocals.

If you experience heartburn at least two to three times a week, you may have gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. You can get GERD test and if the test comes negative , their are a series of other tests you need to undergo

a few other tests that I have mentioned below:

    • Abdominal ultrasound
    • Blood studies including a complete blood count (CBC), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), cortisol, creatinine, electrolytes, prolactin and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)
    • Cardiac catheterization
    • Chest X-ray
    • Colonoscopy
    • Pelvic ultrasound
    • Pulmonary function tests
    • Treadmill stress test if able to exercise or persantine thallium scan
    • Echocardiogram
    • Electrocardiogram (EKG)
    • Flexible sigmoidoscopy
    • Mammogram
    • Pap smear

If you pass these tests, then you are qualified for a lap band surgery :)

  3. Congratulations on your weight loss. i also want to share my success story.

I immediately noticed a huge difference in my life. My social life is now so much better than it was before. I feel great and can't believe why I waited so long to make this change. I have lost 87 lbs weight and i couldn't be happier. The doctors made me feel so comfortable and the procedure wasn't painful at all. As it is an invasive technique, you don't need to worry about the big cuts on your stomach because they will only cut small portions to insert the band on the upper portion of your stomach. :)
