  1. One of my favorites was taking about a 1/4 cup black refried Beans and adding some of the brine (juice) from jarred mild jalapeños. Put in a small oven proof dish and sprinkle a bit of your favorite cheese on top ( I like co-jack). Bake at 350 until cheese is melted. I would add a small amount of lite sour cream or very ripe avocado.... YUMMY! Still to this day I love this (5 months out).

  2. No real hunger, but definitely weak. Going to try to get two Protein shakes in today, which will be 320 calories and 60 grams of Protein. I mixed a chocolate and vanilla one together since they both taste better diluted. I also thinned a bit with skim milk, so there is a bit more protein coming in there.

The shakes actually taste pretty good, so that's a good sign. Hope I can get it all down today.

I have no idea how you are getting so much liquid down, but that's awesome! We are doing well!!

Oh I haven't done it yet That is my goal for food type stuff. I am struggling getting enough fluids down. The shakes are going down easier than expected though.

  3. tomorrow! Expect a call anytime with my time.... Clear Liquids today (not mandatory from surgeon, but seemed like a good idea)...

My kids are showing some anxiety, but are being very supportive.

Going to stay hydrated and relax all day since I took a vacation day for 'mental' prep.

    Talk to you all soon!

    Teri

Received the call and I'm schedule for surgery tomorrow at 9:30am.

Going to buy a loose dress to wear to and from surgery so that nothing will touch my stomach and the incisions.

Taking pics tonight so I will never forget. New life and new body starting tomorrow!!!

Got my time too... Report at 6:30, surgery at 8:30 so I must be the first.

Decided to wear comfortable yoga pants to and from. I live in Ohio and it is supposed to snow tonight, so should probably wear pants ????

Getting ready to take my shower with special soap, then repeat in the morning.

May do pics after my shower... We'll see ????

Good thoughts and prayers for everyone tomorrow! Catch ya on the flip side!

  4. February 10, Emory, Johns Creek, Ga., IF I get a clean bill of health on February 5th from my ENT.

Seems I had an allergic reaction to something this weekend, and the back of my throat swelled up, sending me to the ER on Saturday night. They did a CT scan, and radiologist believed he saw a mass in my throat. Only problem (actually, a very good problem) is upon physical (scope) inspection yesterday with an ENT that specializes in throat maladies, no mass could be seen. However, there is still some swelling in the throat, and he wants to scope it again on the 5th of February after a seven day regimen of steroids, before he clears me for bariatric surgery. He's pretty confident that there is nothing there, and that what the radiologist saw was the soft-tissue swelling. (BTW, the location where said mass is supposed to be is not a good place to have one.)

I've already had my pre-op meeting with my surgeon and support staff. All that remains is meeting with the gas-passers in anesthesiology, which I can do on Monday the 8th. Cutting it close, but doable.

Please keep good thoughts (prayers) for a positive outcome to this, and I don't mean for the sake of the bariatric surgery. Were it to turn out that there were to be something there, that fact would far outweigh the results of not being able to have my sleeve.

    praying doll!!!!!

  5. Here I am, 9 days out...

    44 years old....

    Scared, excited, anxious...

I started on this journey about a year ago. I had been fighting high triglycerides for 15 years (with moderate success using medication); then my blood pressure started inching up. Arthritis in my hip, spinal stenosis, and a couple bulging discs in my neck.

I have a constant nagging in my brain; reminding me that my mom, and my mom's mom both died at 55. I didn't know my grandmother on that side; but I know there is history of Migraines, heart disease, and diabetes. Since my mom had all these and experienced a heart attack when she was 52, I assume my grandmother either passed of a heart attack or a stroke.

My kids are 19 (twins) and 14. I really want to see my grandkids. Not only see them; but, play with them, babysit, attend their sporting and music events.

I want to live longer than 11 more years.

I want to retire and live many years after.

I would love to meet my great grandchildren.

So, last July I went to an information session and signed on to meet with a nurse navigator.

Four nutritionist visits, one upper GI, blood work, EKG, 34 pounds less, and a surgeon appointment later... Here I am.

Tomorrow is my pre-op physical at the hospital.

Next Tuesday the 9th is the first day of the rest of my life.

Thank you for reading! I will try to update as the process continues!

    Teri

  6. Hi my fellow Feb 1 sleevers ...I am so trying to get my house in order and head in order for this surgery ....my start weight was 217 I am down to 208 as of this morning from the pre op diet my goal is 145 -150 for this summer so I can feel good on the beach ... I have a 15 year old son who loves momma's cooking but had to stock up on food he can enjoy while I am out of commission ...my husband died several years ago so it just me and him and my daughter in college who is extremely supportive .... As of anyone else I decided to keep that to myself ... Did not want anyone trying to talk me out of the surgery and thinking I am just lazy trying this method! I am a breast cancer survivor and this is my first defense against re-occurance I will look forward to hearing how everyone's post surgery goes ...I report to the hospital at 630 am then wake up to my new life ! Good luck everyone

I think our kids can be our biggest supporters and cheerleaders. Good luck to you! Meet you on the losers bench on the 9th!
