The school nurse calls you into her office and tells you that you seriously need to by new clothes because that shirt is huge on you. Thankyou nurse!!!

Good on you,
The first step is the hardest, once you get on the exercise trail and get a routine you will find it hard to imagine how you didnt do it before. I tell myself every time I feel like not exercising "Its only 1 hour out of your life get up now and feel good later"

Nat, I have noticed that same .... I used to be able to consume Water REALLY quickly, now if I do gulp is 'bubbles' down ... like if you pour something too quickly into a tight hole and it bubbles up as it drains through. Also I know I have mentioned this on other posts but oh the burping! if I drink anything quikly (ish) burp burp burp burp!!!
I dont burp I get the hiccups really bad. My husband says I sound like a drain when I drink even he can hear the gurgling as it goes down. Some days its not too bad and others I have to be careful. Last week could have been emabarrasing I took a big sip of water and it went down the wrong way I just got out the staffroom door when all the water exploded out of me like a water fountain, Nice!!

Good on you batkitty, I think it doesnt matter how we do it as long as we "shut our gob and move our ass" to quote Jachut. I have joined the gym for 3 months to make sure I dont get sick of it and have to pay for a while year like i did at curves

As I sit laughing at all these funny posts I realize my bum bones are sticking into the computer chair and hurting, omg the paddings disappearing

When you have to sneak behind the clothes racks in the stores so you can reach in to pull up your undies that are only being help up by the crotch of your trousers.HEHE yes I have had to dig down and reef em up!!! Bought new undies and even they are starting to slip.

When the boardshorts that threatened to explode under the pressure last summer fall to the bottom of the pool during Water aerobics.

Please dont stress, Towards the end of my first month i was eating pretty well whatever I wanted. I did ocassionally get stuck but it eased pretty quick. Im no expert but I think the band would have to be a little stronger than to slip over one meal. I think we are so scared that something will go wrong and we will be on our own again that anything sets off a freak out. I cant tell you its all ok but at least you will see your doc tomorrow and your mind will be at ease.

Is it normal to not be able to drink Water quickly? I find when I exercise I really want to drink lots of water fast but I cant, I have to take small mouthfuls and wait for it to go down. Is that the norm??

We had scones for morning tea on Monday and I couldnt even try them I was too scared. I am finding that I cant eat much at all during the day but I can eat at night, Breakfast is a complete waste of time I just want to throw up at the thought.
I have trouble taking metamucil because it gets thick before I can get it down.
I think I will go very conservative after the next fill unless I suddenly lose restriction. So far so good, how have you been with restriction Emma?

Ewww canned dough....pumpkin like we have it is just hard to find over there, its just not eaten as a veggie like we do, savoury. There are a few varieties of "squash" (which is more like a butternut) that are eaten as veggie where my hubby is from.
We had English backpackers stay with us and they couldnt believe their eyes when we served up a roast dinner with baked pumpkin. They told us that they only use pumpkin as pig food.

:w00t:Im laughing about it now but Friday night I was really thinking I was too tight and would have to remain unfilled forever and it was all a waste of time blah blah blah very dramatic.
Im slowly starting to tackle slightly solid food today at work I ate the middle of a quiche and it went down well.
I have a day off tomorrow ny school is flooded WOOHOO:thumbup::wink2::tt2:

Ok so I had my first fill on Thursday all good. Friday morning we decided to go to adventure world so off we went without even thinking about food we would buy there. Got to the lunch counter and they only sold burgers and chips so i thought I should be ok if I eat a couple of chips and chew well. About 1 minute after I swallowed I started to feel stuck and ill so I took a degas tablet. For about 6 hours after I was pb'ing and sick I couldnt even drink Water, what hell. I threw up about 5 times in public at adventure world and felt sooo humiliated. I am fine now but have learnt a valuable lesson never go anywhere unprepared and getting stuck is no joke.

I have been a regular at the chiropractor for about 10 years and always have something out. I went for my regular visit on Friday and for the first time ever she said my back was good. I cant believe that it has only taken a short time to see health changes.
I have started training with a friend who does triathlons so she is very motivating.

She smiles how much weight did you lose before you started running? That is my goal but I still feel too cumbersome to move that fast, so its a quick walk right now.I was running a bit at about 90kilos from memory, about 3 months out from my surgery.
Thats what I thought, guess I need to lose a few more bags of oranges before Im running.
Does anyone else have the insane urge to look at the weight of EVERYTHING and compare it to how much weight you have lost. I sooo wanted to try and pick up 8 2kg bags of oranges in the shop the other day to see what it felt like.

I am sooo glad to hear you are home. I really hope your recovery is full and you get back to a normal life soon. Hope to see you around here more often. Great to see you have still lost weight throughout your ordeal. Wont be long and we will be shopping in the front of the stores not up the back in the corner!!!!:biggrin2::biggrin2:

Just got back from the gym, that elliptical trainer is killing me I just cant get used to it I feel like Im going to die when Im on it and can only manage 6 minutes before I sneak off like a loser. I gues that means I should do more of it. I can only go twice this week as Im going to perth for my first fill YAY!!! Will definitely find a nice place to have a big walk while Im there if I can get time away from all the extended family that insist we visit when in Perth.

I'm currently training for my first half marathon next month (if a knee injury I have can be sorted out), so running is a big chunk of my exercise and has been for about 6 months now. I'm running 30+km a week at the moment over 4 or 5 days, this will increase over the next few weeks as the half draws closer.I started yoga a few weeks ago, and I LOOOOOOOOVE it. Its a great change from the fast pace of running all the time and its a bit cliched, but I feel more in tune with my body when I do it. I do ashtanga yoga and am also going to start a hatha yoga class in mid May.
I also have some free weights I bought a couple of weeks ago. My gym membership lapsed in January and I thought it was time I got back to doing some toning and strength exercises too.
I track all my exercise on my blog too, theres a link in my sig below.

I have to say I have never felt this good about exercise before, I actually feel bad if I think I may miss a day and that has never happened. In the past I would be looking for any small reason to skip and then blame no exercise at all on my busy day and running around after my kids.

I was thinking tonight I would like to start a thread to compare notes with others on the type of exercise they are doing post band. I would really like to know if Im varied enough and what is working for others. For the last 4 weeks I have been going to Water aerobics once a week, the gym four times a week and walking the other two days. Has anyone tried yoga? wouldnt mind giving that a go.

I have not burped since I was banded just over a month ago. I have lots of gurgling and get the hiccups alot but no burp. I kind of miss the satisfaction of a good belch.
-
i still feel like that nat. I'm pretty sure we were banded withing a couple of days of each other for memory...But i defiinatly get what your saying. People i havnt seen in a while say i look good, but i just dont see it. I think its because i have a fair amount to lose, so it still seems like there is so far to go, plus i was this weight not that long ago (about 8 months ago) so it doesnt feel that different....
but thanks heaps for both of your kind words!
I am probably a bit paranoid because all the good comments have come from people that know I have had surgery and I always wonder if they are just saying that or are they genuine. So far nobody has commented that does not know so I guess Im waiting for the day that someone says I have lost weight and they have no idea of the surgery then I might believe it.
I do feel good in myself though I have more energy and feel the confidence growing with every kilo lost.
Had to but new smaller knickers last week that made me feel pretty good LOL
-
You are looking good ausgirl, I can really see a difference. I havnt taken any recent photos yet so I cant compare but a few people have commented on the difference but I still struggle to see it.
-
I'm going for my first fill today and really hope to get restriction as I can eat as much as I want! I know it's trial and error but I'm hoping this will give me enough to last to my next fill next month.Good luck hope you get the restriction you are looking for. I am heading to Perth to see Dr Watson for first fill next Thursday. I am starting to find I can eat more than a few weeks ago but Im really trying to keep the eating under control (very hard when your son comes home from work with buckets of KFC) and I have started exercising everyday so thats helping a huge amount with the weight loss.
-
I am also a patient of Dr watson and I was ok on fluids until about day 6. Day 7 I had mushy scrambled eggs (heaven).
I am almost a month post op and I am pretty much eating most things, I havnt tried red meat or bread yet but Im not really missing it at all. I have lots of vegies and chicken.
I couldnt be happier with the surgery and the results I am already seeing. I am exercising every day and love it and I suddenly realized tonight that I was sitting comfortably with my legs crossed and I have not done that for a few years now, it seems like small thing but every change is a huge milestone to me.
