  2. I never knew how strong I am until being strong was my only option.

  3. I am wondering if anyone is logging thier food and how many calories you may be eating ? Also could you share with me the type of exercise you may be doing and for how long ? I would love to have a wonderful weight loss as so many of you have - hoping I am doing it correctly especially as my soreness gets better each day. Thanks so much for any advise sure appreciate all of you sharing with me ;)

You need to take it easy the first few weeks and not be a super hero... I know I've been over doing it and I feel it, but I rest. That's why walking is the best, maybe some light weight training as well for a few weeks until you feel strong and then do some hiking, or walk up some mild hills to keep building strength. I've been getting between 750-900 calories right now from liquids/protein shakes consistently throughout the day, and overall about 100oz of liquids a day total.... it is a challenge, but I make it happen. I log everything, including my vitamins in myfitnesspal. I add the meds in just like food, that way when I see the Macros/Reports for nutrition I can see where my totals and values are. As far as fitness, I've been doing a lot of mild hiking and walking through the days since I am not working for a month or so at least (I work for an airline as a baggage handler.. no major lifting, lol!.. keeps me off for 6-8 weeks post op). I challenge myself with stairs and have been getting out and even playing firsbee golf and forcing my friends to get out to evening events such as art shows and outdoor cultural events. Makes us all get out and be more active as a collective and I get more bonus walking time! ;)

  4. Managed to make my goal yesterday with my protein, nutrients, fluids and activity....hopefully I can keep it up! It is definitely a challenge, but well worth the effort! :)

Actually I haven't found myself getting hungry at all because I consistently am taking things in throughout the day to get all of my liquids and nutrients. Between the protein shakes, liquid meals, and water... I don't feel hungry. The only time I can say I do is sometimes in the early morning when I get up after I've slept for a long time. I've been doing a lot of hiking and walking as well, so I know I've probably been burning way more calories than the 700-900 I've been taking in. I'm looking forward to moving to mushy foods next week though.... can't come soon enough, lol. :)

  5. Just had surgery Monday and I guess because of all the water I was given through my IV ?? I have gained 6 pounds !!! Everytime they weighed me at the hospital I weighed more.

Mine took me off the IV the second day because I was drinking so much water and walking around "too much"... it's interesting how everyone's experiences are a bit different. I'm definitely not focusing TOO much on the weight loss though and just doing the scale once a week because of the issues with my head (pseudotumor...) which is why I had the surgery in the first place, luckily I haven't had any real issues with that though and feel pretty good... though it's only been a week to be fair. lol. Good luck and as I understand it, many of these odd things are actually normal.

I also an kinda anal about my food intake and preparing ahead of time as I like to be on the go, so I have these 3 oz containers and bento boxes I use to portion out the 2oz of fluids (soup/pudding/cream of wheat/etc) throughout the day so I am set ahead of time.

So I'm shooting for 90g of protein per day, 80-100oz of fluids, I take 4 Optisource orange chewable wafers (walgreens for a one month supply is $30) per day and they contain all of the vitamins we need... except my NUT told me that I needed also to get a sublingual B-12, so I found a great one that is B-12 dots at Sprouts (cherry flavored vegan formula - 100 ct/$8.99, 250 ct/$18.99) to take a bit after I've taken my first Optisource tablet/wafer. As far as the percentages, I track EVERYTHING in myfitnesspal and had set up goals with my NUT beforehand... which right at first aren't necessary to follow, but I'm sticking to them anyway, just getting more protein right now because that is what we need. Carbs/40%, Fat 35%, and Protein 25% of the daily diet (later on!)... but the protein will be much higher right now. I add in my b-12 and oprtisource with my food on myfitnesspal.
