  1. Just wanted to say HI, I know its a late response, but you are the first person after searching threw pages and pages that was going to Dr Balder. I am going to him now and hope to be banded the second week of July. How has your experience been?

    Sorry I am so late in getting back. I have been working alot lately. But my experience has been great. If it wasnt for this board I don't know what I would do. I had my surgery April 10th. I have now lost 42 pounds. Dropped pants and bra sizes and I look the best I have in awhile. Because I've lost so much I haven't had a fill yet. He really is a sweet doctor and I know you would do well in his care.


  2. Mine got infected about..well close to the month after surgery. And I had a feeling it would get infected from the moment I got out of surgery. Just that "ouch that doesn't look good" He opened mine up to look it it and said it wasn't deep just a skin infection. Then gave me meds and in about 2 weeks I was fine. Although that area seems to get dried and I have to use cream. I had a back operation when I was 14 and I had one then that didnt heal. I had to have months of visiting nurses to come and "pack me in" with stuff. Now that was a bitch.


  3. well, aren't we all doing great? I have lost 39 pounds. Bra size 46DD to 38DD Which is good, I never really liked my big boobs..lol. I was supposed to have a fill like 1 week ago but didn't cuz I felt like I was doing great. But my food intake has increased and I go back next monday so maybe I will get one then.


  4. Alot of times after I excersise I get really bad leg cramps, pains in arms ect. that last for days before I can excersise again. Even as of late I wake up in the middle of the night with leg cramps. Had problem with one arm with wrist hurting that it wasnt able to move certain ways..and that comes and goes. My mother said I might need more potessium in my diet. Just wondering if anyone had experienced this after being banded. I often wonder if standing 8 hours at work 5 to 6 days a week is finally effecting me. Every job I ever had is standing/walking. I just want to get to excersie and get to my goal of 190 by sept 1st.


  5. Ugh. This girl I work with who I can't stand anyways asked how my weight loss is going. I told her it was "fine..But I gained some pounds out of nowhere". She then said "well if you gain weight wouldn't your stomach explode since you have the band thingy?"...................:) I know this was an off topic area.I tried to move it to another section and I cant delete it. darn


  6. I was banded 4/10 and I lost about 35 pounds now. But everyone is different. And on some days I gain a pound or two then a few days later drop it. But as long as you eat right and put some excersise into your everyday life you should do well. And slower weight loss means less likely to put it back on again.

My insurence covered most of it. they covered 19,992 dollars..lol And I prob paid about 1,000 of my money Like dr. visits, theripst ( which wasnt covered) 300 for starting fee, 200 before surgery could even start. So...the lap band can very in price. I havent really seen anyone go over 20,000 yet.


  8. Okay, now I'm not losing. It's been a week and I even gained 1.5 pounds. I'm so hungry still, but I don't know what's wrong. I don't know what is different. AAAAARGH!!

    I just ate a little more but not much. And I have done alot more walking lately. But I have'nt lost anything in a few days.


  9. I do simple things like park the car farther away so I can walk. I work 8 hours 5 days a week and I stand for those 8 hours And always moving and walking around. I do sometimes play DDR on my playstation. It gets my legs moving, breaking a sweat and I can feel it in my tummy..lol And my apartment complex has a cardio gym. I walk to it. excersise for 45 mins and walk back. But like today. Non of the machines were working and the ones that did work people wouldn't get off. grrr But I am thinking about doing Water aerobics in the summer. Depending on how that works cuz in the summer I work 6 days a week. But would really love to take it up.


  10. I think we all wish to be that lucky one who drops the weight fast. Maybe I too should get rid of the scale or only weigh myself on certain days. But I am happy with what I lost already. I had my first PB today also. GAH. I think I ate to fast. I was running late all day today.


  11. Were you given any guidelines for after surgery of what to consume? I was told to make sure to consume 70g of Protein everyday. I'm not sure if you are, but try upping your Protein, it may help.

    I was told 60g of protein a day. And I get way more than that in. I was getting to much in so I cut back. I didn't realize how much I took in till I went on fitday.com one day took in 122g of protein.
