Hello Everyone,
I was banded on 3/10. I spent over a week in the hospital afterwards with post surgical obstruction whatever the heck that is. Had to have another surgery to loosen the band while I was in the hospital. Anyways I'm doing better now. Each day gets a little easier. The good thing is I lost 17 lbs the week I was in the hospital and 8 so far this week. I can only have liquids. I tried yogurt, slim fast, pudding, cream of wheat and they all came right back up. I'm already familiar with PBing I guess, and it's not a nice feeling at all for me. Is anyone else strugling to take in all the fluids or is it just me beacuse I'm so tight. I keep my bottle of Water and Isopure with me everywhere I go and keep sipping but I can only take the smallest sips with no pain and sometimes have to take long breaks inbetween. My Dr. wanted me to be having 6-700 calories a day with 60 grams of Protein but I'm lucky to get half that in and keep it down. Thanks for any info you can share with me.

I'm not knocking WW but my friend goes there. He is thinking about having the Lap Band now that I'm having mine tomorrow. I know he told them about it and they did everything they could to talk him out of it and gave him a hundred reasons why he shouldn't. If you do go I wouldn't tell them you have a band I have a sense that they are anti WLS. Just my expierence. Good luck.

Isopure from GNC helped get me through the two weeks. I just have a few hours to go now. The first few days I found the hardest by far. It gets easier to the point where I forgot to take my afternoon shakes yesterday and still wasn't hungry. I think it's more of a carb addiction and head hunger than anything else. You can do it. Just try to keep your mind on something else. Good Luck

Isopure is the only thing that has kept me sane. I have only a few hours to go so I made it unless I go on a massive eating binge before tomorrow morning. Good Luck.

Hi Eabadie,
BIDMC is Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Center. It's the hospital where I'm having my surgery I really should have been more specific. I started watching what I ate after the first appointment with my Dr about 5 weeks ago and lost 12 lbs over the next month. Then over the last week and a half on liguids I have lost another 18 . I have been going to the gym for 2 hours a night though. Some days are harder than others but I'm in a groove now and only 5 more days so I'm going to make it. Once I stop exercising my weightloss slows to a crawl. It has always been that way. It's going to be tough post-op... Good luck.

3/10 BIDMC... Starting to get a little nervous. The pre op diet is going great though. Good luck everyone..

I couldn't have done this pre-op diet without Isopure. I actually like the taste. It seems to fill me up as well. Good Luck

I would like to know the answer as well. I was told by my Dr that he has a few patients who scuba with no problems at all. However, I'm sure there were no quick assents. I know of a friend who a band and flys a twin engine cessna. He has never had an issue in the unpressurized cabin and I know he has said before he has had some air in the system. Thinking more about it if you come to an uncontrolled ascent I think a sliped band is the least of your problems. Just be careful and dive as you always have and I would think you are going to be all right. Good Luck.

It's interesting to see all the different things Dr's require out there. My Dr asked me to do a 2 week liquid pre op which I have done a week. Then post op 3 weeks of liquids only, then 5 weeks of mushies then fill and another week of mushies then regular foods. I'm weak now I can only imagine post op.

Hello,
I'm March 10th figured it was close enough . I love Isopure. I have been on my pre-op since this past Saturday. I had a tough time yesterday and I think the poor pizzia delivery guy left my office running and screaming after he saw me staring and drowling at him, but I made it through and today is a little better. For me I'm finding out it's 95% mental. Oh well. Good luck.

Bozzj,
My Dr told me in the last meeting I had with him which was about 1 month before the surgery. So your Dr might just be waiting to meet with you again and then spring it on you. Your right it's a good start. I think it's more of stopping people from having the last supper syndrome and eating everything. I do know from reading a lot of these boards that some Dr's don't require anything though. Good Luck.

is it weird if my doc doesn't require a pre op diet? i forgot to ask them (getting banded 4/17), but someone on this board who goes to my doc said she asked and they said no.Bozzj, My dr showed me some pictures of a fatty liver and said he has had to close people up just as quickly as he opened. That was enough to scare me into this pre-op hell . I don't understand how the dr's can be so across the board on this issue. It doesn't make sense.

Thanks Greenchrysalis, I'm trying. I'm def a carb addict too I think that's most of my problem. I just feel really weak and run down. I hope this isn't going to be the way I constantly feel after the surgery. Thanks again.

Hello all. I'm having the exact opposite reaction. I have been on my liquid diet for 5 days now and have droped 8 LBS . However, starting this morning I have been ravenously hungry. I almost tackled a delivery guy at my office who was delivering some food to coworkers. I could actually see fear in his eyes looking at me. I am weak, have a huge head ache and will do anything for some food. Is this just my mind playing games with me? Do you think this will go away? Should I advise anyone ordering food to ask the delivery many to take a taser with him? Or should I cheat a little and get some food in me? Thanks for the help. These boards are fantastic. I'm glad I found them. I'm being banded on 3/10.

Sadie,
Your Dr. is cool with you gaining 5 lbs. I am being banded on March 10th and went in from pre-op this past monday. They said I needed to lose at least 5lbs before the surgery otherwise they may cancel it. You think they are just trying to scare me? I hate this liguid pre-diet.
