My diet was different than most too. I only had to do a strict low fat 1500 cal diet two weeks pre op. I also can have cream of wheat now, V8 juice, and Soups as long as they are blended.
I have been having Soup, but because I hate the readymade Protein soups, I am still not getting a bough protein.

At what day post op did you start to add egg whites and cottage cheese? I am now drinking Atkins drinks because the premiere were so bad that I could not take one more sip!

Are any other organs, aside from your stomach, in your body being affected?
We're any of your nerves accidentally damaged during the surgery?
-
-
Were you taking anti-nausea medicine? That can cause some to have an increased appetite
-
I had normal fasting levels after about a week after surgery.
I was taken off all 4 of my diabetic meds after a week.
Diagnosed 14 years ago.
I no longer need to test blood sugars daily - weekly is ok. I have a follow up appointment with Endo in 6 months.
-
That's great! How long did it take for you to have normal fasting levels after surgery?
Did your endocrinologist keep you on it after your surgery?
How long were you diabetic?
-
Congratulations! Last week I donated my unused Lantus SoloStar and Victoza after getting the all clear from my Endocrinologist. My A1C was 6.0 without any diabetic medication since early September. The sleeve worked for me as promised.

That is great!!!
I just would like to ask you a couple of other questions
How long did it take for your BG to get in the normal range?
Did your doctor or out you on anything after your surgery, or did he wean you off?
What do you think your fasting numbers would have been without long acting insulin?
I was on 35 units of insulin and 1000 mg of metformin. Have been type II since 1999.
While in hospital my glucose was up to 269, but they later told me it was because of the dextrose drip.
I am not two days post op and my level is 150
And down 7.6 lbs

I was Type II for 12 years and on insulin for 5 years.[/quote

That's so good that you only had to stay for one night. I stayed for two. Keep us posted on your progress. Have you gotten hungry yet?

Whoo hoo finally on the losers bench.. I had to stay over night but when home next day... Only pain is gas and gas-x strips are helping that and some nausea.. Other than that it went well????
-
I had very little gas or pain. Just for the 1st night.

Hi I'm off pain meds and nausea meds. Still a little weak. Hurts to cough. I had an upper respiratory infection and I can't get rid of the phlegm. I'll probably go home today
-
I am feeling much better today. I am drinking Chrystal light, Water, sugar free Jello and broth. Nausea is pretty much gone. I am able to take in normal sized sips.

Things will go well, i was a touch scared myself to be honest, but it was mostly about the pain part post op... Just be ready to walk when the nursing staff says so, be ready to pee like no tomorrow for the first few times and when they give you your first Protein Shake, don't be afraid to ask for a different flavor.. the first one they gave me did not sit well.. pain ohh the pain..I am already to go! Surgeon had been back, anesthesiology, gotten my meds. Let me know how your goes. I will write as soon as possible. Surgery should begin at 12:30 ET
Oh did I feel to mention that I m super scared.
other than that, good luck and I will look forward to your first post, post procedure

Clear liquids tomorrow and surgery at 7:30am Tuesday morning, 11/17! Can't believe it's finally here! While I am a surgery pro at this point and know what to expect pre-op, things got very real for me this weekend and I am a little nervous to say the least. Here's to hoping everything goes as planned!

Gentlemen:
I had RNY Gastric Bypass operation on 3/30/14
Since then I've lost over 100 pounds, It fixed my diabetes, sleep Apnea and lack of mobility
On the down side, and 3 months after the operation, I have a series of recurring symptoms
Pain in the colon, Lack of apetite, Bloated Stomach, gurgling stomach,
feeling sick after eating, Repulsion against food. food makes me nauseous
No blood in the stools, Regular bowel movements, No fever
These symptoms appeared with regularity every 2 to 3 months
Usually they will go away after taking laxatives, Miralax and Colace
I’ve been sent to the hospital in two occasions and the following procedures were performed on me
Colon Decompression
Scan CT, Colonoscopy, Upper GI Series, A small polyp was found and removed.
A biopsy was performed in the polyp as well as in another part of the colon.
Nothing was found and Drs could not figure out what I had
However, the last occurrence of these symptoms started on 06/30/2015
And this time around there is no pain, everything else being the same
And the laxatives are not working.
What is worrisome is my lack of appetite and repulsion towards food
Problem still pending, my latest doctor says, there is no cure for this condition
and is a complication of Bariatic Bypass
Please Help, If anyone out there could shed some light in this problem
Hi just reading your post. Have you had a resolution to your issues? How are you feeling now?
-
Just wanted to check-in on my fellow Nov sleevers. I had my surgery on the 10th and have been doing exceptionally well so far. Good luck to everyone.
Congrats, Chuck! Glad you are doing well.
Still feeling no restriction

@suemagg66 and @@KarenLoh it could be possible that
Your situation may have to do with the bougie size that was used during surgery. Maybe your surgeon used a larger sized bougie to reduce the chance for leakage? What was your weight prior to surgery? Some studies report that when a larger bougies are used there is a reduced chance for leakage. In one study even it showed that there were no leakages. When I asked my surgeon about using a larger bougie, he said that would be too un restrictive, and you would eat too much.
