I was averaging 13-15lbs a month at first. I stopped working out consistently like in May and that's when the weight-loss slowed down but it didn't stop or anything, I am still making sure I get my Protein first and my fluids in. Also I should note that I never worked out super hard, just walked a couple of miles 4-5 days a week or swam a few laps in the pool. I had some stalls but never worried too much about them cuz people on here prepare you for that lol
When did it start to slow down and how much weight did you lose your first 2 monthsI'm 5'3 and my surgery was Dec 9, 2015

I've lost 84lbs in 8 months so far. I hope to reach goal by end of September since it's slowed to about 6-8 lbs a month now for me. I'm not complaining though.

I smoked up to like 3 days before surgery and smoked again about 7days post op. I use a vaporizer. All is good with me. But your best bet is to be open with your doctor. I was. I'm sure it's nothing he hasn't heard before.
I'm 4mnths out and down 60lbs. 40lbs to goal!!! I must tell you though that I got the munchies like the 2nd time I smoked post op and it scared me so I haven't smoked since then. I didn't used to get the munchies before but something changed after surgery. I don't want to risk being fat again so ... I stopped. Just know your limits and pay attention to your body.
Hope that helped.

I'm 4mnths out and when I need a pick me up I drink Spark from Advocare. You have to order it online unless you know a local rep but it's amazing!!! fruit punch is the best and it's non carbonated. It's also sugar free

I took it for about a yr and a half back in 2010 and I'm pretty sure it saved me. My depression was pretty much gone, I had all this energy and my sex drive went through the roof!!! As if all that wasn't enough, an added bonus was I quit smoking within a week of using it and I haven't touched a cigarette since with zero desire to do so!!! It's a wonder drug if you ask me

I'm hypothyroid and was diabetic before RNY. Was taking Metformin. My surgery was Dec 9 2015 and I'm off Metformin and have lost 53lbs thus far. Weight-loss has been steady, I'm thankful for that.
Don't worry too much, it all works out in the end

Holy crap!! I'm about to go into RNY surgery. My surgery is at 7:30am tomorrow. I have to be in the hospital by 6:00am. I'm super excited but I'm not entirely sure it's sunken in yet. I'll probably freak out when they start hooking me up to machines and putting in IV's and all that but for now I have a sense of calm for the most part. My feelings range from nervous and excited to do I really want to rearrange my anatomy?!!?!? Watch me be the only person that doesn't lose any weight from this!!
I feel pretty prepared... I think. This forum has been a Godsend. I've learned so much from reading all of your entries.
Good luck to my fellow surgery twins that will be going in tomorrow too. I will pray for you.

@@jhammer2 It's a slippery slope, so just say "No" to cheat days! Instead, find alternatives to the foods you want to "cheat" with and you'll have a Win/Win situation. Here's one example ... I love pizza and life without it just seemed like it would be dreadful. Instead, I searched and researched and found a recipe that I tweaked to my own taste and voila - I get to eat pizza! It's bariatric friendly of course (the crust is made out of ground chicken breast) but it tastes super delicious. I now but the 3 lb. container of Perdue ground chicken breast so I can make 19 individual crusts at one time. They freeze beautifully and then I can have pizza within minutes. The cost, breaks down to about 60 cents per crust. I have other recipes for quiche, cheese cracker crisps, pudding and frozen yogurt bars. Let me know if you'd like any of them and I'll gladly share.
Please pm me that pizza recipe! Life without pizza seems unbearable and so far your recipe looks the most amazing!!!

My surgery is Wed and I had a salad yesterday!! I'm so nervous and feeling regretful. I'm afraid my surgeon is gonna go in and be like NOPE. I seriously need to join an OA in my area
It was mostly head hunger and I couldn't beat it... I'm gonna fail at this entire thing

The only advice I have about doing the pre op is keep to yourself as much as you can and keep busy. I haven't cooked for my family the whole time and I cry whenever they eat in front of me lol freaking pathetic. But it gets easier everyday. Days 1-3 are the hardest.
-
I'm with animel!! This pre-op thing is killing me!!! Have you cheated at all?
I did cheat!!! I was supposed to start it last wed but I had thanksgiving and ended up starting on friday. I went to pre register for surgery yesterday and I had lost 7lbs in the 5days that I followed it strictly. But today... I had sushi. And then I had a slice of cheese. I feel bad but I just had to break up the monotony of Protein Shake after Protein shake!!!

I think it's a matter of the doctors preference. It's usually for the purpose of shrinking your liver. If you don't have to do it, consider yourself lucky cuz I have 6 days to go on mine (surgery date Dec 9) and I want to die most days
