I'm nearly six weeks out and am cleared for everything but breads and pastas. I've noticed now that I'm adding different foods - they are hitting my stomach hard. It's slightly painful but no vomiting. Is this something that goes away with time? Is it normal as we begin solids?

Hello ladies! I'd love surgery buddies! The big day is 8/8! My pre-op labs are 7/28. I started my Protein diet yesterday. It's not a liquid diet so I'm a little worried. Anyway, I'm excited!
sent from Louisville, KY
I don't have to do a liquid diet either. My doctor just requires one 24 hours before my surgery. It does seem like the norm though.
Good luck! I'm 8/11 - so I'll be cheering you on.

I'm on the 11th too! And am feeling all of the above. But mostly excitement. I've started a board on Pinterest of all of the clothes I'd love to wear after to keep my mind occupied.

Hi all! I just received my August 11th date today! I'm looking forward to taking this journey with each of you.

I had a friend who had surgery on Wednesday and was at work on Monday. He works at a hospital (not a nurse) and does a lot of walking. He's totally fine. Some kind of freak of nature, lol.

This same exact thing happened to my bestie after her surgery 13 years ago. She was pregnant during her surgery and didn't find out until a couple of weeks later. She has a happy, healthy, goofy girl. She did have some issues with dehydration, but keep close to your nut. Congrats!

They were called Right Fit, but it looks like they've switched over to Genius Fit. But yeah, they're expensive.

I used to work at Lane Bryant and they had jeans that fit different body types. My issue had always been that I have a large stomach and bird legs. Yay me! And their jeans worked well. I'll see if i can link you. I believe Torrid has the same type of jean as well.

Thank you. I'm about a month or so out and I've eliminated soda, but I'm struggling with the 30/30.

Can you tell me if you prepped before surgery and how that helped you after surgery? Did you do the 30/30 plan before? Cut out sweets?
Did you not prep before surgery? What affect did that have on you after surgery?

You're my inspiration!

I have Blue Shields of CA and was told that I have the six month waiting period as well. I am going through the Center's nutrition program and was told not to lose our gain weight just to make sure I hit every appointment. I have conflicting information and have tried to call blue shields to find out about the waiting period but they don't even seem to know what their requirements are. The authorization form that they sent me to give to the doctor mentions they would prefer the patient waits three months but I haven't had time to contact them.

You will do great! Let us know how you're feeling when you feel up to it.

I could have written this myself. I'm just starting the process and get anxiety thinking about it. What helps me is to focus on the future. I Pin cute clothes on Pinterest and hairstyles that I like. Anything to keep my mind occupied. I've spent hours googling horror stories, but in the end I have to focus on the future.

Thank you all! I'm not going to lie here and say that the first and foremost reason I am doing this is for my health, but dammit I want to look good too! Haha. But I feel like at 39 it's now or never. I have looked into my insurance and I'm covered there. I have the support of my husband - now it's information gatherings and decision time. I know that my health is not going to hold out forever if I continue on the route I'm taking now so I appreciate what you all had to say.

I'm at the very beginning of my journey. I have taken the class and am waiting for my first consult. In the mean time I'm reading, reading, reading. I am approximately 100 lbs. overweight. I'm relatively healthy, but am pre diabetic. So my question is how do you sanely weigh the risks versus the benefits? I read great things, but then there are those few stories where people get sick, have leaks, etc. I realize that there are risks, so how do I balance those fears against the rewards?
