how often should you sip?
my dr started me on the mushies post op day 15-21 examples 1/2 bananas, fruit added to smoothies(yuck), 1/4 baked sweet potato, oatmeal cream of wheat(yuck) no grits:( week 4 lowfat cottage cheese, lite canned fruit, well cooked veggies(canned), beans no rice low fat cheese, my food servings were 1/4-1/2 cup I'm at 1/2 cup for most things my protein in week 3 was up to 60-80 grams:001_rolleyes: and any supplements my md ordered were taken as tolerated and you cannot move to these stages if you have nausea, or vomitting. hope this helps.

Coping with solids
well i guess there is a wee bit of geography separating us but I'm happy that we are friends. i think my stall is over down by 3 lbs. I found out that my vitamin D levels are terrible so i will start taking supplements for that next week. I read that pts who have high vit D levels loose weight fast than those with lower levels. I'm 6wks post op really having trouble with protein supplements so trying to get it from food i can drink like a fish but food is ugh!!!!!!!! AFTER ONLY A HALF CUP. So I think my weight is coming off a lot slower than most. But off is better than on so no more whinning. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for letting me vent:blush:

how often should you sip?
If you are ok with fluids drink as much as you can as often as you can. The first couple of weeks you must focus on hydrations. Protein will come in time at least that's what my MD told me at about week 2 he had me start to focus on protein. Hope this helps hang in there I'm drinking as i blog this. I still have trouble with my protein, but i get in my fluids. Love crystal lite, but i use one pack to a liter of water just enough flavor to keep me drinking but not too sweet. I'm six weeks out sleeved on the 21st of June. I lost about 16 lbs since surgery:001_unsure: not as much as most but still better off than on:001_tongue:

1st day back to work
Thanks so much, and yes there is comfort in the ability to care for others instead of fixating on food. I made up for my fluids after work, I'm gonna make myself do my walk away the pounds dvd, tonite there i said it so I must do it!!! Oh, Leo 5 did skip any temptations at work today everyone was entertained by my small continers and cute utensils. If you have not purchased World Market has awesome spoons, forks, and knives for us (really cocktail utensils) but they work for us. Well, no time like the present for that date with the dvd play:(

1st day back to work
Work was good everyone was kind and my manager was ok with minor assignments did okay with my food too but just so-so with fluids. i'm in surgery so going back n forth to potty is not ok. Felt good to see other adults and have something other than protein to concentrate on.:tongue_smilie:

Today Sucked!
Without sounding to cheesy or preachy remember the devil is in the details. On the surface the sleeve can seem idiot proof but we forget the little self sabotage devil living in all of us. We cannot forget that this didn't happen in a few weeks and we had no problem eating cheeseburger or fries or pizza to excess but we can find problems with a change that doesn't fit our needs at the time myself at the top of the heap. We just need to try one meal at a time and remember to flaw is human to forgive ourselves is Devine

anyone get dizzy
Ditto I get dizzy especially if I'm out in the heat too long. I live in hades hot tub New Orleans but I agree that bp has a lot to do with our problem if it happens when you go from sitting to standing it is called orthostatic hypotension which is fancy for rapid decrease in blood pressure if so just try to move slower and not just pop up like a jack in the box but ALWAYS check with your MD.

thank you i will try the chicken, tuna salad i'm to start those things on monday i'm also trying not to weigh daily as it drives me crazy but like a bad accident i can't help but look. I'm going to look for the cheese today. Tried egg salad but was rough no crackers just smelly mush in my mouth. I don't want to sound like i'm whinning even though i am(lol) i guess just having a hard time with the adjustments mentally that cheeseburgers and fries are not an automatic default when having food woes. It like gas will pass!!!!!! I hope:)

This is a great sacrfice for the patient as well as the family so just remember whatever her reasons for surgery this is life changing and requires time to get use to for all involved. Learning to love life again
HI EVERYONE, TO START I'M 39 YRS OLD MY HIGHEST WEIGHT WAS 251, I WAS BANDED IN 2007 MY PRE-SURGICAL WEIGHT WAS 238. MY LOWEST WITH THE BAND WAS 209, THE BAND CAUSED SO MANY PROBLEMS FOR ME. FAST FORWARD I HAD A HITAL HERNIA REPAIR, BAND REMOVAL AND THE SLEEVE. I WAS 232 PRE-OP AND CURRENTLY I'M TWO WEEKS POST OP AND 220 AS OF FRIDAY. I CANNOT WAIT TO JOIN LIFE AGAIN I'M A NURSE SO WORK HAS BECOME THE DEFINITION OF WHO I AM BECAUSE OTHER THAN WIFE AND MOM I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL I HAD GOING FOR ME. MY LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK HAS BECOME SO SEDITARY. THE TV HAS BECOME MY FRIEND, AFTER MY MOM/WIFE STUFF IS DONE. I CANNOT WAIT TO JOIN LIFE SINCE MY SURGERY. HAVE MY OWN WEEKEND ANDVENTURE INSTEAD OF LIVING THROUGH MY FRIENDS ADVENTURES. I FEEL LIKE I'M RAMBLING BUT IT IS JUST HOW I FEEL. I WANT TO LEARN TO RUN SO I HOPE TO START WITH MY TREADMILL AND EVENTUALLY TAKE MY FLUFFY CARCASS OUTSIDE TO FACE THE WORLD. I HAVE THE BEST FAMILY IN THE WORLD SO VERY SUPPORTIVE I JUST HOPE WE CAN LEARN TO DO OTHER THINGS OUTSIDE THE HOUSE SO WE CAN BECOME MORE A PART OF LIFE AND LESS APART OF THE SEDITARY WORLD WE HAVE CREATED FOR OURSELVES.

Stuck In A Blue Funk
I understand exactly where you are I'm two weeks out I had my first follow-up visit friday lost 12 lbs since surgery. I'm having trouble finding things to eat without cheating, i also was banded and failed at that so I really want this to work. In terms of taste I found that once I bought a tongue scrapper and new mouthwash I found my taste buds were buried and are better, which is 100% better. If you dont have caffeine issues McDonald's or Subway unsweetened tea is soooo good especially wit a bit of lemon. I love sugar free snowballs also it's a treat and helps with your fluid intake. Believe me we can do this, it just takes time for our minds to catch on with our desires and we all will become the babe in our minds eye. Hang in there
