  1. hi, i am helping with caregiving to globetrotter, 5 days post op now, Each day is an experience with the pain. probably the normal kind of pain, coughing, hiccup and of course the knowing you just dont feel good. Learning to "learn how to swallow the water" . She did notice today though, that her calorie intake was low. Im thinking that as long as the Protien intake is right on target, all is good? What do you think? The calories will be more important when soft foods & solids begin? what do you think? She has been having in the evening approx 6pm, a low grade fever where she gets very flush but says she feels chilled inside, this last approx 2 hours max. The runny nose is periodic, not a constant. At 4 & 5 days post op now, feels better taking shorter walks, rests/sits outside soaking up the vitamin D. Doing well. Thinks about tomorrow being a better day & each day has been a tiny bit more successful then the day before even if it is only by 5 more minutes of a walk. 5 days post op is 1st day no pain meds.
  2. okay, Globetrotter made it through the surgery well, 1.5 hour. a minor minor set back day after surgery, nothing major at all, you just need to produce more urine, etc. and she had that nausea going on, didnt really walk as much..but by 4pm, we both said "gotta do it", 7pm we will make our exit...and we are now comfy back at the hotel & then head to R&R on the coast of Mendocino early 7/16. oh yea, she definitly has those hic-cups....Anyone have them yet? ouch! and she had the "spasmatic" wretching about 9 hours after surgery.... that was horrible, she felt like she wanted to wretch but couldnt make herself stop ... & nothing of course came up...so those are spasms. none today at all...just nausea, some not as bad as day of surgery.
  3. we are officially 12 plus hours post-op. Hopefully globetrotter will get the green light on Thursday to be discharged. What should I, the "caregiver" know or what should i not do? we will be on the road 3 hours to our destination. Im a little nervous.
