  1. Hello all, was wondering how everyone else is doing since there surgery in March. I was doing very well, the first 60lbs melted off and am feelign better, but it has come to close to a stop lately. I was in last week and thought I would get a fill but the doc said did not need it since I had lost 35 lbs the first month. Just wondering how everyone else is doing. It has sure been nice though have already from from a size 42 jeans to a 36-38 jeans.

  2. I was banded on March 11th, and everything has been going great. However the last couple weeks the weight ahs sure slowed down coming off. I lost the first 50 pounds faily fast, but has slowed down alot. Going in for my first check up since the 1 week post op check up and am guess I will be getting some fill. I have been able to eat basically anything, i have yet had any bad experiences with anything. NO pb's. But I am starting to feel hungry alot and I suppose a fill will help with that.

Was just wondering how everyone else has been doing and what they can eat or are having problems with.

  3. I am wondering if other people that were banded around March 11th are getting hungry all the time. I was banded on March 11th and was on a one week liquid diet, 1 week of mushies and now I am slowly working on going to solid food. I have been eating chicken, salads, fish, but it seems like I am always hungry or thinking of food. I normally stop eating after I have had between 1/2 cup and 1 cup of food just because I was told not to have more then that, not that I am full.

    My daily meals include:

B: 1/2-3/4 a can of Atkins chocolate Delight

L: a small piese of ham or chicken with a small piece of fruit or a cup of chef salad

D: about the same as lunch

normally I will not snack, if I do is is a sugar free popsical

    I average between 500-800 calories a day

Anyone else having this same problem

  4. I was banded 3/11/08. I was on liquids for 1 week, then 1 week of mushy's, now I am on to solid food slowly. I did have some ham this weekend for easter, that sure tasted good. I also had a quarter of a wheat wrap with deli sliced turkey and a slice of cheese on. It was good and I just made sure I chewed it very well. Also have been enjoying some cantelop. One secret one person told me is sugar free, Fat free choclate fudge pudding. It is very good and only 25 calories a serving (I think) and just a drop of cool whip free on top, very good, make sure to only have one serving at a time though but really helps the sweet tooth. I feel like I could eat anything, and have not had any problems yet, but have been very careful, but I was told I can start solid foods slowing starting week 3.

  5. Was just wondering if anyone has ever tried taffy after having the band put it. Not that I used to eat much taffy, but occasionally like to have some and was wondering if that is a No No from now on.

  6. Hello all, it is very interesting reading about how some people tell all and some keep it to themselves. I believe everyone has there choice on telling or not telling.

I just had my surgery on tuesday, And I was really nervous on telling anyone except my imediate family. I did however tell my office a week before, and telling you what, I was SO NERVOUS, but after telling them all, which is half female and half males, I was very happy to see that they were all 100% supportive. I was also suprised to hear from a couple of them that their spouses were thinking about doing something, so I answered may questions for them. After getting off my chest and telling most peopel that are really close to me, I am so glad I did, I dont like lieing and everyone has been very supportive. I have found that telling people has also calmed me down alot, not having to worry about not letting it slip or not.

    Just my 2cents worth.

  7. Thanks for all the relpies so far, they are very helpful. One question I have, is I am hearing alot of people talk about not having diet beverages and alcoholic beverages. My doctor said it is different with everyone on the carbination factor, but says I should be fine and as far as drinking beer, they only say that it is additional calories, but the beer itself won't hurt you, you will not be able to have as much as before, but having one occasionally is fine.

  8. I have my surgery date set for tomorrow (March 11th). I am getting very nervous that I will not be able to enjoy certain foods eventually again. I am wanting to enjoy all foods just in smaller portions. I no this is a tool to help control food intake but am nervous to give up (pizza, bread, steak, roast) ect. I know some of these foods have also been the cause of my weight gain, but would still like to enjoy a slice of pizza once in a while, or a small steak, ect. Just wondering if other people have went through this or are going through this same phase. I sometimes feel I am to young (28) to have to give up some of the good foods for life.

(I also posted in the pre-band section, but thought I would get some peoples thought from after they had the band put in)

    Thanks

    Any comments appreciated.

  10. Hello, I am also on Fed BCBS (in MN) Basic option. I am schedualed for surgery on March 11th (this tuesday) and just checked with my insurance company and they said it would be about $100 for the surgery, $40 for the facility and depending on how they word the medications, up to 30% for meds.

  11. Well meet with the Doc yesterday and asked him about bowling a week later. He told me depends on how I feel,he does not put any restrictions on. Basically he said if it hurt to do something dont do it, and if it doesn't then go ahead and do it. So I guess will wait and see how I feel at the time.

Thanks for all your replys been very helpful.

  12. Is there anyone here from MN. I am heavily debating on wether I should get the surgery or not. I have went through all the pre-op requirments of the insurance company and doctor and now just need to make my final selection of a date to have it.

I am looking for other peoples experiences and if they are glad they went through with it or not.

  13. Not that I am a heavy drinker by any means, but a couple times a year I like to get together with friends and tip back a few. I am wondering how everyone's experience has been with alcohol after the band and what types of drinks people are drinking when they do drink. That you for any advise.

  14. I have been approved for the surgery after doing 6 months of dieting and doctoring (for insurance reasons). Know I have to make the final decision on if I am wanting to go through with the surgery. I am looking for people's input and if they have been glad they went through with it or not. :help:
