  1. Hello all. Got sleeved on December 1st and am finally starting to adjust to the new lifestyle. I'm a hairstylist/makeup artist but over the summer, I started to write a blog. It was originally about being the only unmarried 30something out of all of my friends, but it then evolved into something more. I talk about everything from dating to my crazy family to my surgery and the side effects. Check it out if you have a minute. You're welcome to subscribe and share.

  2. I literally just had Soup and it was uncomfortable going down. It's so weird. I have my one month follow up tomorrow and I'll bring it up. But I feel like a lot of the time when you bring an issue to the doctor, it's something you're doing wrong right away. I just wanted to know if I was the only one still feeling discomfort.

  3. I was scheduled to do outpatient and then my surgery got moved to a hospital. 2 weeks before I decided to stay overnight and THANK GOD I did. I honestly don't know how people do outpatient. I have a high tolerance for pain, but this was something else. You are so uncomfortable and I had a horrible reaction to the anesthesia and was throwing up all night. Stay over if you can.

  4. You will run into so many people who don't understand your decision. I can count on one hand the people who totally embraced the idea of my surgery. My family, my best friend, even my boyfriend don't understand it. My boyfriend is having the hardest time dealing with it out of anyone. But it's your life and your choice and you need to remember that you're allowed to take care of yourself and choose what you think is best for you.

  5. Hi all. I just got my sleeve surgery 5 weeks ago and I'm in a mental rut at the moment. I have a question and all honest answers are appreciated. I'm a little depressed because everytime I eat the food gets stuck in my esophagus and takes forever to go down. I try to take small bites and chew throughly but it always happens regardless. My boyfriend, who is trying to be supportive, says that that's my new reality for the rest of my life. Tell me that can't be true. Tell me that I can eat without discomfort again.

  6. Hello all. New to this forum and am a bit overwhelmed by all of the topics and threads so hopefully I'm doing this correctly.

My name is Rachel and my surgery date is scheduled for December 1st in central Jersey. I'm using Dr. Abkin. I've been going through all of the pre op prerequisites and it's all just a lot to wrap my head around. I've struggled with my weight my entire life, and at 31 I feel slightly defeated that this is what I've had to turn to. Besides being morbidly obese (I'm 251 with a bmi of 41), I have no health issues. I've lost weight before, but I can't keep it off. What is it about this surgery that's going to make it different, ya know?

Anyway, I'm maybe looking for some buddies that are sympathetic to my journey. I haven't garnered much support from family or friends. Everyone is confused about my decision. But everyone isn't me and hasn't lived my life.

I hope that this post finds everyone well.
