    @@Renkoss thank you! We'll said!
@@OutsideMatchInside what you say makes total sense. I will keep that in mind for future post and will leave them to WLS only. I forget how many bitter people there are in this world who take their self hatred out on others. Not saying that is the case here at all.

All the more reason to always ask/research before attempting. I thought I had come across the dangerous facts in the past, but these past few days, I have seen many WLS ladies I follow on IG using these and it surprised me.

I don't necessarily view it as an insult to women. My stomach is probably my BIGGEST problem and the one thing I'm most self conscious about. In almost 7 years, I have not been able to wear a shirt to work without a cardigan because of this. Or a baggy thirty on weekends when doing activities. My hopes are that as I lose the weight, my stomach will get to an ideal size that nothing more than Spanx is necessary. Hopefully even that won't be needed. This isn't for me to fit some mold of what society expects of me. This is for me to feel comfortable because I personally do not like to look at myself in the mirror while seeing every roll through my shirts. I want a smooth, yet curvy torso. Not because society tells me that's what's sexy but what I think is sexy. My legs on the other hand, I don't want pencils for legs. I want thick/fit legs. I have an idea of what I want my body to look like. And it's going to take work on my part to get there. Just looking at options. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Every time some one asks about waist training it's the same thing.
If you want a lot of support from the board, ask about cheating on your spouse or dumping them because they are still fat and the support will roll in.
Just don't take it serious. If you want to ask about things beauty related weight-loss surgery boards are the worst place. You have so many people that hate themselves and on top of hating themselves they have neglected themselves for years. So they are middle aged trying to learn about fashion, hair and makeup.
If you want to talk about looking good and being pretty this isn't the place.

I don't think there is any need from anyone here to berate or belittle another's inquiry on opinions. With that said, some people are just snarky by nature, and you have to be able to ignore those. When a response is not given to the snarkiness, they will stop because nobody is defining them.
    Just my honest opinion.

It's responses like that piss me off and make me strongly consider leaving Bariatric pal. I came here for OPINIONS not snarky responses such as this. I never once said I was going shopping this weekend to purchase one. I was simply fishing for reviews of those who HAVE used them or researched them. That is it. And for the record- I didn't cut out 85% of my stomach, I had my organs rerouted and a pouch created. If I missread your response, I apologize, but your entire response came off as rude and inappropriate for this discussion. Almost motherly if you will...and that's not how I prefer to be spoken to. I wish I listened to my grandmother and always wore a real girdle. I would have never got so fat.
Spanx are complete BS. They don't provide enough control at all.
I can definitely say that wear Shapewear helps a lot. My hourglass shape is really coming along and my fats in the back are flattening out.
That kind of extreme waist training is bad for people, but there are a lot of benefits to wear firm control shapewear.
I plan on having plastics eventually but until I am going to exhaust all options.

I've been wondering about this myself. I was looking at a high waisted Rago girdle. It provides a lot of core support and my hope is that it will help direct my body as it reshapes during weight loss. For me, waist training corsets seem a bit severe but Spanx are just better control top pantyhose. I need a big girl girdle. I wore girdles all through high school and college and I really believe that they help encourage that classic shape. Of course, that's just my opinion and your mileage may vary.

All I'm saying is that if "opinions" were expressed in a more tactful manner, it would be beneficial for everyone. But...I somehow forgot we were surrounded by the WLS police who know all and are entitled to be crude and bich*y because they're now vets or what have you. You have newbies here who ONLY view post and are too intimidated to ask questions or request help because they see responses from people like you. People who immediately feel the need to belittle someone over something simple. Aka...keyboard warriors. I didn't ask if I could cheat and advance my diet without my doctors orders. I didn't ask if I could resume carbonated drinks. I didn't ask if I could pick up smoking again. I didn't ask if I could begin weight training and dismiss my doctors orders to limit myself to 15 lbs for 2 more weeks. I believe my question was valid and for information only.
Now, had I gone out, purchased a waist trainer, tried it for a few days and then hit up BP for opinions, I may have reacted differently to your response. But it was a simple question.

I am definitely in the beginning stages. I think the many pictures on my IG feed over the past few days is what sparked my interest. I agree...IF they were to be safe and healthy, I am still too far out from benefitting from one. I was just intrigued and wanted to talk to the WLS community and see what everyone thought. The idea is off the table...I was just curious
I definitely don't have the anticipation of a perfect body after I lose these final 90ish lbs. I know there will be flaws, so I'm hoping I will truly learn to love myself and every wrinkle, roll and dimple that may stick around. Even if I were to, I know there will be days where I simply do not like what I see. I can already tell this will be more of a mental challenge than a physical one. But I'm up for the job.
I will say that I am walking away from this conversation with some good suggestions from @@OutsideMatchInside for the workout vest. But I won't put that into effect for another month or so and my Water goal is easily met on a daily basis.
Forget the cartwheels and backflips...I'd want it to do dishes and laundry!!

@@sassyfrass23, I get and agree with what you say about the rolls being unhappy-making. I also just noticed that you're at the beginning of your trip. Even if "waist trainers" were proved safe and effective, I can't imagine them being effective during weight loss, as there's no way of knowing what your body may do as it slims. You can smooth out the rolls and bulges nicely with spanx-type items, but you don't want anything so tight that it will restrict breathing, which is a good thing to be able to do. It's kind of nice to be able to breathe. It sounds as though your shirts are made from clingy material. Nylon/silky camisoles do well for smoothing over the rolls, too. If, however, you're hoping for the look of perfection, you'll be disappointed no matter what. For your own sake, be realistic: "Better" is doable.
P.S. If I were to wear to a "waist trainer," I'd at least want my waist to be able to turn cartwheels, do back flips and walk the balance beam. Too bad I have no recollection of what I expected from a "training bra" way back when. It merely sounds stoopid now, yet I wouldn't deny a young daughter's request, as my mother didn't deny mine. It's a different thing entirely.

I wouldn't suggest wearing neoprene unless you can get 64 ounces of Water or more in a day, you will sweat a lot. I didn't start doing any "extra" stuff until past 6 months.

Good or bad,I'm an adult..I decided to give it a try..
I started waist training at 180lbs. It is a body modification. It will move your rib cage and bones etc. I went through two corsets. Moving to a smaller corset down was due to my weight loss. The loose skin will always be in my mid section. When I wear a corset the skin will move outside the top or bottom of the corset. It was not a good look on me. I had better results from working my core weight training. Under my loose skin is an actual waist. I can accentuate it with spnax.
They do make work out corsets that target the waist...I never tried it due to the bulging skin at 135 pounds..lol

I have never done waist training, but I do wear corsets occasionally for historical reenacting and costuming. I can say that a well made corset can be comfortable for a period of time and can even help with posture (especially if you have a bad back). That said, I know I would never be able to keep one on for the amount of time required for waist training. They sure can make you look fabulous for a while though! Especially if you are squishy in the middle (which I definitely am!).
But yeah, I guess since I don't do it I really don't have much to add to your specific question. Research and be healthy!

Wearing a neoprene suit while working out can be beneficial. They make you sweat though, so you have to be really good with Water.
I am really flabby right now so I basically wear compression or Shapewear all day to be comfortable. I have to wear compression garments to work out and stop my skin/stomach from flopping around.
I have one similar to this...
    http://www.amazon.com/Topmelon-Women-Neoprene-Double-Green-8003/dp/B014GVQIAY/ref=sr_1_6?srs=9156348011&ie=UTF8&qid=1461600520&sr=8-6&keywords=sport
i wear it when I work out and around the house, I have a cream I use with it and it has helped with my skin and my back rolls.
Waist training with boning is a real no no. I for someone who has had WLS it will increase GERD.

I had to go purchase a few new items to boost my wardrobe (if you can call it that). I noticed that suddenly I am drawn to bright colors. Usually I will try them on, look in the mirror and head back to the racks looking for black or navy.
Well, I got this new very colorful Ann Klein wrap blouse! I also never ever would have worn a wrap blouse but this one looks very nice for my now boyish figure. My hubby loved it on me.
