    The wait game!

I'm with @@Valentina ! Call your surgeon's office! My file was submitted on a Friday. I called the morning of the following Friday to find out that UHC still hadn't received my file. So, I called my benefits coordinator at my surgeon's office immediately. She resubmitted that same day (Friday). I was approved the following Monday! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Just got insurance approval today!

I'm going to take before pictures prior to my 2 week liquid diet which begins March 15th. I dread it...but I know I will need great "before" photos to help me on the days when I don't feel like I've made much improvement but I really have. It's become very obvious to me that people who have WLS typically have a much more difficult time seeing a physical difference. So, I am going to rely on those quite a bit. Age is but a number......

Even at 27 years old I questioned whether I was personally old enough for this surgery. But after much deliberation, I realized that I don't want to be walking this path in my fifties and regretting the years I lost to obesity. I've already missed out on 10 years of life...why would I want to allow this disease to rob me of another 20+? As long as you are looking at this from a HEALTH stand point and not an "oh, I can't wait to fit in a bikini" then I think you will be just fine. The physical change excites me, yes. But the driving force behind my decision is what is on the horizon with my health. With heart disease basically being a guarantee just from genetics plus the increased chances from obesity...I'm screwed. So this is my way of getting that under control. Let the naysayers be naysayers. They don't have to answer to what your future holds. You do. So only you know what you can handle and what's best for your life and health. I found a good protein!

I pour the vanilla Premier Protein over ice every morning, add cold (decaf) coffee plus some SF Vanilla (I alternate other flavors on occassion) coffee syrup by Torani and top it all off with light/fat free whip cream. Oh. My. Stars. Now I will have to try the chocolate idea you mentioned with the freezer! Do you leave it in the container or pour it in a glass before putting it in the freezer? Phentermine meds

I too, lost many pounds on this medication. On a few separate occasions. But quickly gained it all back and then some once I stopped each time. When the medication left my system, my hunger was uncontrollable. It felt as if I'd been starving for months. So my ability to practice self control was almost impossible. The medication also lost its affect around month 2. Once that failed for the third time, my PCP then suggested WLS.

  15. Soooo...a couple of weeks ago I posted that I had been approved for RNY per my Insurance company when calling in to verify they'd received my file. Only to find out the next day when speaking with my surgeon's office that not only had I NOT been approved, my file hadn't even been submitted yet. Talk about ripping the rug out from under somebody.... I DEFINITELY felt like the lady from Miss America when Steve accidentally announced the wrong winner. However, I called tonight and learned that I had been APPROVED for RNY. No jokes. No mistakes. It's officially official. Legit. Oh...my...stars! My coordinator actually had to resubmit my file last Friday since UHC was saying they still hadn't received it. Which was the sole purpose behind my call tonight. Apparently, I was approved in less than 2 business days which was both shocking and exciting to learn. I am so stoked to have surgery! But I believe I'm MORE excited to be done with this damn process which began in June of 2015. It has been exhausting and definitely trying at times. And on occasion, I considered throwing the towel in and hitting the road to Mexico. To all of you in the preop phase: Keep your head up. The bumps in the road are almost impossible to avoid, but well worth fighting through. Don't get discouraged when/if something goes askew. I am certainly glad I didn't quit when I was tempted to...

  19. I share the same fears! But as long as we go into this with the mindset of it ONLY being a tool and we still have to work at it, nutritionally and physically...we have better chances of succeeding long term. Unfortunately, I think that those who have gained their weight back either got too "comfortable" and or thought their surgery was a fix all. And it's not
  20. Ah! I hate to hear that. My best friend has that and it really does a number on her when it's flared. I'm sure you will do well with the VSG!
  21. Please don't give up! By the time I'm ready to try after surgery, I will be the big 3-0. The thought is killing me. We have been trying for 8 years now, so a part of me fears potentially facing more years of trying after I lose the weight. Putting me closer to 40. But I haven't set a "cut off" age of when I will give up. My mama was older when she had us, and she didn't have any complications. I've also spoken with many older women who conceived at a later age and had healthy pregnancies and babies. I say that if this is what your heart desires, go for it! Just think about the risk younger obese women have in getting pregnant. Your body may be healthier and more capable of carrying a child.
