Did you? Not sure if u r aware of this, but every bariatric program is different. If you don't have tolerance for one that is different from yours, maybe just don't comment.Gee -- you really didn't learn anything from this thread?

Quite honestly....I cannot wait to have a bite of steak! ????

I think he and the nutritionist believe that there is no point in eating so much sugar, that's all. Kudos to them for being brutally honest.
I'm fine with it, it is true that once it is being absorbed by the body, there is very little difference between watermelon and candy. It's all sugar. Giving up fruit is obviously something people don't want to accept. But like most things---everything in moderation makes the world go 'round

Hi---I had surgery the same day as you :-)
Sorry to hear about your complications! Someone once told me to just step on the scale every other week, so that we aren't dwelling on the number. The weight will come off, some weeks more rapidly than others. I'm guessing that once we become a little more active, the weight is going to just melt off.
For me, five days postop, I had already lost 18 pounds. Now the scale hasn't budged in three days.... But I'm not too concerned.
I will be starting on puréed food today, not really sure what exactly I will be having, it seems so weird just preparing two bites of something, Lol.

HahahahaIf I went the hummus rout what could I eat it with at this stage?
Normally I'd use celery, crackers, carrots before surgery.
A spoon.
Great idea!

I had a two-week liver reduction diet which was pretty much no carbs and high Protein. Then two days of Clear Liquids which was pure torture :-)
To me, that was the hardest part.... Those two days.

I was sleeved one week ago today. I know every doctors requirements are different but I need to take A daily Multivitamin, 1200 mg calcium citrate, Vitamin D3 and vitamin B 12.< /p>
Everything is either liquid or chewable. They told me no more softgels, ever again. I started with all the Vitamins after I got home... Didn't need to bring anything to the hospital.
Something I wish I would have known prior to surgery? 1) pain meds were only necessary for 24 hours and 2) One week postop, and I feel completely back to normal :-)
Good luck!!

I didn't have to do that.
so does everyone who has the sleeve have to do the drink thing to check for leaks? No gas pains at all , vomited only once in the hospital after I had to drink that awful stuff to see if I had any leakage , it came right back up nasty . Other than that it's been fine . I could not be more happy with the outcome and how I feel .

I had a late afternoon surgery last Monday. Now 6 days post op, I feel great, no pain meds since Tuesday, and am ready to get back to work. You'll do great!

I had surgery on the 29th----everyone warned me about gas pain and vomiting. Well guess what? No gas pain at all, and I have not vomited. Each experience is unique, thank goodness! I feel 100% better and am ready to return to work Good luck to all!!I'm super glad that your surgery went really well, and that you're feeling better! Did you have any gas pains, and if so, how did you relieve them? I'm really nervous about that bit going into my sleeve on Dec. 9.
19th sorry, typo

Me too! I'm so grateful!I am so grateful my doc didn't make me do a pre-op diet.
The day before the surgery was my only day and I had to do Clear Liquids.
I never would have made it two weeks on a liquid diet!
-
So excited to add puréed foods to my day rather than strictly liquids. Anyone have their meals planned out?

Haven't thrown up! Yay...so happy for you! That too is my goal in this, I hear so much talk about vomiting and regurgitating--I thought it was inevitable! I'm not usually a "puker" and haven't thrown up yet, hope it stays that way
When you say a "problem" with it...what's the problem? Stomach ache? Vomiting? Stuck feeling? I love steak tooI eat it all the time! Tri tip, mostly. I did have some problems with it early out (4-6 months), so I would only get the most tender cuts. Now I seem to handle it much better. I love me a good steak!
Just upset stomach...almost like it was too hard to digest. Honestly was the only food that ever gave me an issue.
I haven't thrown up once since surgery 14 months ago

I'm currently on full liquids, 5 days post op. I know Protein is the priority---so does this mean eventually steak will be able to be consumed, even if it's just a couple bites? I can't imagine eating it now, but I assume if it's tender enough there won't be a problem? (Can you tell I'm craving to CHEW on something? Haha)

Well said!!The pre-op liquid diet is no fun.
It was the hardest part about it for me.
Since my October 13th surgery, I am having 3 Protein shakes a day and lots of Water. I'm having no problem getting it all down and the 3 shakes are plenty of food to keep me from being hungry. No problems whatsoever.
I see zero problems whatsoever with staying on this course for a couple more weeks until the next stage.
My surgeon is very strict on the 2-week pre-op liquid diet and continued post-op 4-week liquid diet. When I was doing the pre-op 2-week deal I hit a wall about halfway through and wondered how the heck I'd be able to make it. No kidding.
Now, though, I have zero doubts I'll make it.
The surgery truly does work. Appetite is less. Hunger is all but gone. There is no urge to snack or graze. The weight.......it is falling off.
It is a medical miracle. I'm very grateful and hopeful.
I no longer see my surgeon as being overly strict. I see him as cautious and safe.
The pre-op is tough......just take it one day at a time....don't look too far ahead. Get through it and KNOW that it truly does get easier.
I find it so interesting the different variations of pre-op diets though. I was on a 2 week no/low carb diet, then just two days of liquids....those were the worst. Amazing how the cravings and hunger just disappear with the surgery. I am so grateful!!!

I haven't been able to find any chocolate mint Protein Shakes so I was thinking about adding a drop of peppermint extract to my premier chocolate Protein Shake. Has anyone done this? And how does it taste? Any strange reactions to extract? (Like is it too strong for our new tummy to handle?)

Me too! That one spot is a bugger, and I can't wait for that isolated pain to disappear, it will make it so much easier to move around!I'm okay. Down six pounds ☺️ however, my main incision next to my belly button is giving me a fit. It hurts bad!!!
I want to feel human again and am going to get out of the house with the family today.
-
So for all you October 19th sleevers---how are you all doing? I feel like now that we have hit day 5 post op, things are looking good! For me, I'm moving around better, sleeping great, still a little sore, but getting used to my new eating pattern. I've had zero vomiting...no pain meds....and getting up to 40 G Protein per day. And 15 pounds lost since Monday! Things are looking up!

Looking for variety, I keep reading the list of allowed liquids, and coffee is on there. I heard to avoid caffeine but I have never heard of the acid level in coffee, so thank you for that info!

I do understand my plan and I will follow it. They also recommend no more carbonated beverages---ever. (Now hopefully nobody else freaks out about that too, Lol) #tooManyBossyPeopleHere
