  1. Hi all! Oct 14 surgery here (stats: 234 sw/186 cw).

I'm wondering what everyone is eating these days. Looking for quick and easy snack and meal ideas. TIA

I had surgery Oct 14 as well! (276 to 213)

    On a normal day

Breakfast: half light Yoplait vanilla yogurt (with unflavored Protein powder) with a few frozen blue berries and strawberries (basically coated fruit) then I sprinkle with Fiber and Protein enriched granola

Lunch: fresh veggies with plain Greek yogurt ranch mix (Yogurt and ranch season packet), turkey lunch meat and cheese roll ups (maybe 2)

Dinner: any normal meal with healthy alternatives.. cauliflower rice, sweet potatoes, cauliflower mashed potatoes, brocolli slaw noodles, zoodles, ground turkey, etc

Snack: frozen fruit, regular fruit, veggies and dip, hard boiled eggs, peanuts, almonds, air popped popcorn, homemade goldfish/cheese its, homemade granola bars sweeten with honey, pretzels, sugar free popcicles, sugar free italian ice

And my treat is coffee. Haha

Don't get me wrong, I've slipped and had a few not so good items but very very very seldom.

  2. Before surgery

    Highest weight: 276 October 2015

    Green shirt: 245 December 2015

Blue shirt: current 215 January 2016

Inspirational pics! You look amazing and I bet you feel it too! Your daughter is so cute and now you're going to have the energy to really engage with her. Amazing work!

    Thank you!

I do feel amazing! (As long as I get all my Protein in, man can I feel it if I dont)

I've been killing it at the gym lately. It is starting to feel good going, vs painful. Slowly but surely.

  3. So since my gym membership, I've only missed 2 days out of 6 days. Lol the weekend was killer.

I fell off the wagon this week with my friend visiting. Gained 3.8 pounds! And I feel like crap! Tired. My face is breaking out. I mean wow.

But my friend left and I'm back on it.

I meet with a personal trainer today (came with my gym membership) to see where I need to be as far as goals and working out goes.

  4. My appetite seems to have returned this week too! I love how every time I check this thread you fabulous people affirm what I'm going through. It's not just me!

Confession: both my kids are sick so no gym yet but I will!! I really will!

And odd question: is anyone else's bones cracking and doing weird things? Lol I wake up in the morning and it's like snap crackle and pop and it's not my cereal, it's me!

You can do it! Get in the gym! It becomes routine after a few days!

  5. I hear you. I joined a gym this week but so far I haven't included exercise into my program at all. I need to make time for exercising! I think as a mom of young kids (3&5) I forget about self-care. And exercise will likely help push us through these stalls.

Ok I'm committing to actually entering the gym I joined! Haha

I actually joined a gym today too! Lol. And because I have to pay for it, I will go!!

I went today and it was amazing. I forgot how much I missed going. (Haven't been in almost a year) I'm hoping this gets me off my stall.

  6. Hi all. I was just at my surgeon yesterday. I'm 10 weeks post op. Even though I'm a November RNY, I just love all you peeps from the October group. So, I'm jumping in! (Been lurking for months now)????

My surgeon stressed a lot yesterday about possible Hair loss. He told me it most likely will be the worst in months 3 through 6. It will come back! So far, I'm ok, but 3 months is around the corner!LOL I'll keep you updated.

    Wishing you all the best!

I'm right at 3 months and is starting for me. I'm adding a hair skin and nails. And Vitamin e oil helps too ive read.

  7. Well, I went to my 3 month check up today (surgery Oct. 8th) & have lost 44lbs !! I'm so glad!!! Its working!!!! I feel so much better!!! They said I was ahead of schedule & doing really well!!! I hope everyone else is having success with this surgery!!! I'm so glad I did it!! I had the Roux N Y.

    Starting weight 238

    Surgery weight 230

    Today's weight 194

    Good job!!

My 3 month post op is next week! I'm so anxious for it. Idk why.

My dr is strict! Lol but he is the best in the area

My highest weight and starting weight was 276 I'm at 215 today!

  8. I had a great Christmas and new years! Hubs bought me a fit bit and a ninja blender/food processor and new pots and pans. He says I need new healthy cooking stuff for the new healthier me. :) so glad to have his support!

So far I've done ok over the holidays. I would have bites of stuff here and there of everything.. Cookies, ect. But only a tiny bite and I was completely satisfied. I stuck to mainly veggies and Protein though of course. Started coffee again (about half a cup to a cup a day) as long as I get all my protein in the pounds come off and I feel great. It's crazy how different I can feel my body is. Never noticed fatigue or fullness before. Now I can. I'm down to 218 this morning! Started at 276 Oct 14. So excited. My next apt is Jan 14. But we lost insurance/switching it. So I have to figure all that out this week with getting blood work and my apt. Blah.

Hope everyone else is still doing well!

  9. @@whoahbabyy can you drink the premiere Protein vanilla shakes? It taste so good 1/2 & 1/2 with coffee. It gives me 2 cups to enjoy in the morning without going over my 1 cup limit, & maybe coffee isn't so bad diluted with protein shake!! ;-). They only told me caffeine is dehydrating, but since I drink all my Water I figure its ok. I think you should still enjoy your tradition on Christmas morning its not that far off from Jan 14, just make sure you drink plenty of water!

That's so odd. I drink unsweet tea...

I drink tons of water. (Well my require amount)

And that's what I was thinking... still enjoy it. It's just coffee.

I haven't tried it yet. I have unflavored protein though lol

  10. @@whoahbabyy Congratulations!! Good work! I don't want sweets either! thats a good things. I know I'm not suppose to drink coffee but I just started drinking a 1/2 cup every morning with the rest filled up with my vanilla Protein Shake for breakfast! Big coffee drinker so I have vowed to never go over 1 cup total forever. I know I know I can't be perfect & its cold out side!!! I can't wait to get under the 200 mark either. I weigh tomorrow so I will see where I'm at!!

Exactly! I miss the cold! I've been drinking half cups of hot chocolate with water... but I mean, that's probably not any better.

Why is it we can't have coffee yet? I can Jan 14. At 3 months out but idk. I plan to have some on christmas morning. I seriously can't do christmas without it. Esp this year. My mom and grandma and I would all drink coffee watching me and my sister/kids open ptrsents. Even as a kid, my mom would pour me coffee on christmas morning. And this is my first year without both my mom and grandmother here with us. So I plan on having a little.

  11. Update!

I hit 50 pounds loss today! And went down a Complete pant size. Probably 2, but I have found that I wearing too small of clothes before. And now those same clothes fit me a lot better. I have an entire trash bag full of jeans that looks horrible on me.. way too baggy. I have never been more excited in my life. I've been doing excellent with fluids and Protein and all this christmas shopping and christmas activities have me walking. I eat pretty much everything, minus a few things. I switched from rice to cauliflower rice and use zuchinni noodles instead of Pasta, stuff like that. Lettuce wraps instead of Buns. And turkey instead of beef. But I still eat beef, turkey and chicken. Some pork (no bacon..hated it anyways) and I'll have nibbles here and there. My biggest problem is pretzels. I eat a couple to curve my salty crunchy craving. Sweets. Blah. Don't want them really. I just miss my coffee. So I'm looking forward to that. My first post op apt is Jan 14. Hopefully I'll be 26 pounds lighter by then. I want to be 199.9 when I go!

  12. Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! I was able to enjoy thanksgiving, surprisingly. Turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and cooked carrots. Everything went down great. We walked a ton all weekend as well. And yet. I'm still in my stall! I've been stuck at 233-236 for almost 2 weeks now. Any tips of how to jump start my weight loss again.

Lately all I've been craving is coffee. I miss the warmth this year. I've been trying hot herbal teas, but it's not the same. :( I can not wait to have coffee again. And drinks. I miss wine with dinner! My husband is italian... so his family drinks wine constantly.

The only food aversion I've had lately is red sauce. It makes me sick instantly. Everything else I seem to do fine with now, as long as I eat slow, small bites and chew.

Pesto spaghetti squash with chicken for dinner tonight. And probably some fresh cooked carrots.

  13. I've finally been able to hit all my Protein in a day. I just need to force myself to stay awake all day. I was still sleeping in so late. That's when I realize I don't get enough fluids or protein.

I think I figured out the reason behind my stall. I started my girly crap. So hopefully that's it.

My mother in law signed us up for a 5k thanksgiving morning. I told her I would try and walk it but I'm not too sure how well I'll do. And she goes, you had this surgery to lose weight you need to be walking! Which obviously I know and I do. But I can't go from walking around the block to running 3.2 miles with a whole day planned after that... I get so tired easily. I end up getting physically ill. Body aches, fever, etc. I'm trying to work it up but just the sound of a 5k makes me want to not get out of bed.

  14. @whoahbabyy. I invested in chewable vitamins and Calcium from Bariatric Advantage. Got enough for 3 months. They are so much easier than the pills and I like the taste. You might want to consider a chewable until you get everything else back to normal.

I have to take omeprazole every day and that has gotten stuck. Not a good thing to have to go through!

I take a chewable calcium (taste like chocolate chalk) my Multivitamin is chewable, but my colace isnt, and neither is my Vitamin D. Everything else is. My prilosec I break open and sprinkle in my mouth.

  15. A little over 4 weeks out and down 43 pounds. I can't tell a difference buy everyone else can. I still struggle to get all my Protein and Water in, but mainly because I sleep so much still. I've always loved sleep. Lol I'm trying to stay up all day today (6am-10pm) so fingers crossed I can get it all in today.

I'm at a stall though. I keep bouncing around between a pound or up a pound. It's annoying. But I need to stop weighing myself everyday, but I can't help it!! Ugh.

I've been having trouble taking my Vitamins even. They feel stuck, and gag me. Then I have to try and not getting sick. I'm still barley eating 1/4 cup of food once or twice a day. An average meal is 3 chunks of cheese, 2 slices of turkey meat and now at dinner I had my veggies and I try and have some fruit mixed with yogurt(3oz) in the morning. So not very much. I get so full so fast.

  16. I called my doctor about my consistent vomitting.

And he lectured me... said I was eating too much. That it doesn't matter if I only eat one bite. If I'm full, stop. Period. That my nutrients are coming from my Protein Drinks, Water and Vitamins.

Then I told him how tired I always was and nauseated.

    Again. Lectured.

Not drinking enough Protein (which I haven't been... been about 20g a day) and not enough Water which nauseous is the first sign of dehydration. And I haven't been getting 64 oz in, only about 40.

But today I did so much better. And no vomitting. Except this morning before I called. Which was all phlem/snot. I'm getting a cold I think.

  17. Today and yesterday I have been starving and I can't seem to get full. I had surgery Oct 15 and I don't remember finding my full point. I just stop eating after a few minutes. I'm supposed to get 68 Protein and 64 Water. That hasn't happened the last couple of days. Oh yeah, only allowed 600 calories a day. Today I'm making potato salad only using cauliflower. I also made chicken chilli yesterday so will have that tonight. I'm guessing not enough protein. The scale seemed stuck the last week and went up 3 pounds. Guessing it was from water. Today it went down 2 pounds. I'm really second guessing this new tool I've gained. SMH

I can't seem to eat or drink enough because I ALWAYS feel full. I have yet to met my required water and protein a day. I think that's why I'm so tired, I mean so so so tired. I can eat a cheesestick and be on the verge of wanting to get sixk.

  18. Hey everyone!

Well i am still having some issues getting in all the liquid and Protein i need, i think a big part of it is i am still always so sleepy and end up napping or sleeping to long and its not easy to play " catch up" . I have found that i am tolerating things very well so far. I have had strained Tomato Soup and my Unjury just came in the mail today so i will be adding that to the Soups i have from now on. I have had SMALL amounts of Greek yogurt with no adverse affects, I tried the unjury with some crystal lite as well and I like it. I am doing OK getting in Water itself but i need to start measuring it i find i am just sipping it from my glass and i don't rightly know how much i end up sipping. Other then that, i am almost completely off the pain medication, and i am really looking foreword to the puree stage on Wednesday. I experienced a small amount of dumping when i tried certain Vitamins but other then that no vomiting. i was 319 when i went in to surgery and i am 304 right now.

That's my issue with the required water and protein. I sleep so much I can't catch up. And then you have to wait so long in between meals. It's annoying. :/

  19. Has anyone been vomiting after eating? I've cheated a few things and ate stuff a little ahead of my phases, but even when I eat what I'm supposed to I vomit ocassionally

Not every meal but man. At least twice or three times a week. It's not painful. I feel full, get sick and I'm perfect again. A few of the times I know it was because I drank too soon after. But I just want to make sure I'm not alone.

I sometimes dry-heave when I first wake up in the morning but I've started having Water by my bed and drinking before getting out of bed. It seems to help. I don't think you're supposed to be vomiting. You may wish to contact your clinic just to be sure. Sometimes vomiting is a result of eating too quickly or drinking while eating or too soon after eating. Are you doing any of those things? I'd also recommend measuring everything to make sure you're not accidentally eating too much. I would love to tell you you're not alone but from the literature my clinic gave me, we're not supposed to be vomiting. You need to follow the diet guidelines carefully though to give your body time to heal. I'd avoid moving through the stages too quickly. Hope this helps.

I think I may be eating too much or too soon with my Water. It's so hard to get everything in and food. I'm required 64 oz water and 3 meals a day. I can't do 3 meals. I had turkey slices and cheese today and I was fine. Then for dinner I had chicken and peas. Ate like 2 peas and a few bites of chicken and I vomited. But my chicken was spicy. So maybe that's it.. idk. I'll have to call my clinic and ask.
