  1. Thank you for all the encouragement! Finally got to come home yesterday. Got my blood pressure & hematocrit stabilized. Then yesterday morning it was my potassium. Have to take at it for the next week at home. It is so nasty tasting but I can deal with that! So glad to be home! Because to the amount of IV Fluids I was given, it is really difficult to tell how much weight I am down. 2 nights ago I was up 22 lbs from just the morning of surgery. I just have to remember it is fluids & I will be back on track soon. This morning down 4. Doing ok today. Just trying to get my fluids down. Stomach not handling broth to well right now. Will try again in a few days

Yay for being home! I didn't weigh until my 2 week post op since I knew I was swollen and it would discourage me. Now I'm doing about once per week. It's so hard getting those fluids in at first. I didn't want or tolerate much the first few days home either but it slowly gets a little easier. Broth was my saving grace. I got so sick of sweet Protein. You're doing great!

  2. Update: Blood pressure has stabilized but then Saturday my red blood count started dropping. It is down to a level may do a transfusion but since I don't get dizzy sitting up or standing I need to wait on Doctor to decide if they ar wanting to do a transfusion. I also have a very large bruise on my abdomen that is about 8"x8" that they have been watching closely!I But it doesn't feel hard. I really don't feel to bad. Had been walking around & getting my fluids in. Pain is very manageable. I just want to go home!!! I will definite follow doctors orders but so board of being in the hospital!

Oh I hope you can go soon! As long as your ok though! Glad your pain is tolerable :)

  3. Surgery was yesterday & went pretty smoothly. Problem was my blood pressure went dangerously low last night & stayed low all day. Due to my bp I have not been allowed to walk thus more severe gas pressure. My bp has somewhat stabilized with top number being over 100 for about and hour. I get to finally take a short walk tonight as long as bp doesn't drop when standing up or I get dizzy. Hopefully all is fine & I can go home tomorrow. Abdominal pain has been very manageable & able to get my fluids in. No nausea.

Glad surgery went smoothly and yay for no nausea! Sorry about the BP and gas pains. It only gets better from here!!!

  4. Boy it's amazing how far you come in two weeks! Tomorrow is my two week mark and feeling good. Still feeing tired but I think that will get better once I'm graduated to foods in two days. I cannot wait! This liquid diet had been one of the hardest things to do. Mostly mentally. I'm so tired of sweet Protein and broth! I still can't get all my protein or fluids in but I do pretty good. I no longer have spasms or pain when I drink so I think I'm healing :) even my gallbladder surgical area is a million times better. I still haven't weighed yet- waiting for my post op Thursday and to be surprised. I sure see the loss though!I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!

  5. Just got home. I have no issues with drinking and no pain in my stomach area at all. My gallbladder was taken out too and the pain in that area is awful since my stones doubled in size since my ultrasound. My surgeon said they were also double the size of the incisions so I'm expected a longer recovery only due to that. Honestly if it was the sleeve only I think I wouldn't have a single issue. I feel the gas but passing out both ends and hoping I get enough out before it migrated to my shoulder. Protein shakes were started yesterday but I'm not hungry and they are too sweet now for me. Getting in clear fluids easily since my mouth is so dry.

Glad all went well. Sorry to hear about the gallbladder. Im sure its such a relief though to finally have the surgery. So congrats on that. :) i have gallstones as well and I'm hoping my surgeon will just remove the stones only. Is your diet still the same with the gallbladder removal?

I don't think they just remove stones but they have to remove the whole thing. Better I think to get it all out now since you are risking more stones forming from the rapid weight loss. My diet is still the same. My surgeon said that the liquid diet the first two weeks will keep my gb area from acting up so it's actually better. She did warn me that diarrhea is more common with the gb being out. I'm fine with that- rather have that then constipation! So far no bowel movement yet though. I'm sure it's because I was all cleaned out before surgery and I'm not doing as much Protein as I should yet since its so tough to drink it when I feel full.

  7. I am in Puyallup and have a surgery date of January 7th. Surgery will be through Franciscan in Federal Way. I have my pre-op nurses appt. on Nov 24. I had hoped to have my surgery before the holidays but when it came down to scheduling a date I opted to not be recovering at Christmas but to be able to chase after my Granddaughter who will be 9 months old Christmas Day. I know the holidays will zip by and surgery is just around the corner. Sooo excited!!

We are neighbors!!! I'm in puyallup too! I'm going through swedish on 12/9!
That's great blkbell! I would love to know how things are going for you after your surgery. Yours is coming up quickly. Maybe we could keep in contact. Do you have a lot of support?
We should keep in contact! We can do it here or on Facebook for now- whatever you are comfortable with. We can private message if we want to share info. My name is Jaimie. I have one friend who did VSG at st Francis about 3 years ago with Dr Shrikanth (not sure how to spell) She did well and lost almost 200 lbs. I also have a coworker who just had surgery on 11/11. She's doing great too and said it was much easier than she thought! Other than them my parents, husband and best friend are my support people who haven't had surgery. I can't wait to have mine! I have lost 63lbs during my 6 month nutrition and now I finally feel like all my hard work is leading to something. I have my preop appt Tuesday and I'm excited to learn more then. Nice to meet you!
Blkbell best wishes on your surgery tomorrow. Hoping all goes well & easy recovery. Let us know you are doing.

    Thank you! I will!
