So much easier to not tell everyone. I don't want to really talk about it all the time and have people watching my weight loss etc.
I'm telling people that I've stopped drinking alcohol for a while and that I'm following a Paleo diet, high Protein etc.
I'm feeling much like my old self again now at the 5 weeks post-op. Playing netball again, and trying to fit in a few walks etc. I will really need to focus on Fluid intake though as this warmer weather is a bit taxing if you feel dehydrated.
Best of luck for a great day everyone.

Hi, I'm also in Sydney. 5 weeks post-op today. I've lost 10kgs altogether. I'm on soft diet this week, but it seems much the same as puree to me. I'm finding it hard to get all my fluids in each day and have to constantly remind myself to drink Water.< /p>
I'm using bio-oil on my op incisions, hoping they will fade out over the next few months. I haven't told any friends about my surgery, just my hubby and close family. It felt too big a deal to be discussing it with too many people. I couldn't face other peoples ideas/questions and opinions.
I am a low BMI sleever and like one of you said I wish there had been another way but after years of trying it just felt right for me to go this path. I'm really happy with my decision, no regrets, just need to adjust to the small amounts of food I can eat now.(i've had a few uncomfortable moments after eating just one mouthful too many). I haven't been shopping yet just wearing all my usual clothes with a few belts hitching in at the waist so my pants stay up. It's amazing the difference 10kgs has already made. I can't imagine how I will feel after another 10kgs disappear.

Im sure if you are doing measurements as well as looking at kgs lost, you would probably find you are losing cms at the moment. A lot of people talk about a stall.... this is probably just that for you. Sounds like you are doing a great job, just hang in there.
I'd kill to have a salad, something I've really missed these past few months. I still have to wait a few more weeks.

Hey all. Great to hear how everyone is going. I'm 7 weeks post op and can now eat a full diet again. Enjoyed a Caesar salad last night and a bit of steak on Saturday. Lots of chewing but no problem. My stomach really lets me know when I've had enough. The trouble is, it's often before my brain and mouth feels ready. It's a psychological game I think. Also I don't feel hunger, but do get an empty feeling sometimes. It's tempting sometimes to eat the carbs but they really fill you quickly then there is no Protein in - which is much more satisfying. I have increased my exercise. Can't believe I've still only lost 13 kilos - thought it would be much more given that I was 10kilos down in 4 weeks. Anyone further along care to share when/ how the weight loss happened?

I'd been overweight since childhood too. I had surgery at 47 and my BMI was about 36 going in (after a small preop loss). I'm 5'6". I lost about 93 pounds in the first 7 months and settled in around 145 as a maintenance goal. I maintain pretty well between 143 and 147 most days. I wear a size 4 or 6 jeans and about an 8 dress, (always been bigger on top). I felt really saggy the first year. Probably partially because I wasn't used to the new me and probably partially because it took my skin some time to recover, but mostly recover, it did. Don't get me wrong... I have bat wings, but so do many women my age who haven't lost upwards of 90 pounds. I'm self conscious enough about my legs that I don't wear shorts much. They look "elephanty" to me now. I have wrinkles on my tummy. But no panus, etc. and my clothes fit well. I look great in a pair of skinny jeans. I'm very lucky to have a body type where I carried it "all over" being a little larger on top. When I lost it, it came off proportionally.
Surgery was better than textbook. 24 hours in the hospital, a week and 1/2 off work, then I went back to my desk job. Never required narcotic pain meds, just chewed Tylenol Jr for the first week. Advanced my diet as directed, with a few painful lessons along the way as I learned to slow down and eat even smaller portions than I thought. Started an exercise program I'm still religious about today. It's been two years TODAY for me and I'm still a size 4\6 with none of weight related the health problems I had before. TOTALLY worth it for this chick!
