  1. I think it is natural to be scared. I have just finished my 3-month pre op and my file should get submitted to the insurance today. I'm excited and terrified. I seem to be dwelling on what it will be like to come out of anesthesia and have my whole life be different. It's a bit overwhelming. But I've done the research. I will follow my doctors orders to the letter. The bottom line for me is that my odds of dying early due to morbid obesity and diabetes far outweigh the odds of complications from the surgery. Good luck!
  2. I completed my 90-day supervised visits yesterday! My file is with the surgeon's insurance person and will, hopefully, be submitted within the week. My insurance is Aetna and I have heard that they respond pretty quickly when you have co-morbidities like my diabetes. So, fingers and toes crossed!

  4. WLS is a really serious subject and we all worry, fret a lot! Personally, I welcome a little humor!

    It's an emotional day.

    Congratulations! You look amazing!
  6. Hi! I am using their office, too. My surgeon is Dr Richards. They are always so busy! I'm glad you called them. I'm still in my 90-day pre-op period. That will be done this next month. I need to be scheduled before the end of the year because my insurance is changing. Good luck and we should stay in touch!

Great ideas! I just ordered an infuser Water bottle so I can try some of these!
  8. I am so sorry. I know you're disappointed and upset. Just take care of yourself and get healed up. And know that we're all here supporting you.

Hey you, out of the dating pool

I had very similar statistics when I dated online. Met my hubby on mySpace -- almost 10 years ago!
  10. As I continue my wait for my surgery date, I am still trying out products and figuring out what I'll be able to eat and drink post surgery. I read this forum quite a bit and sometimes end up confused by the things people say they eat (mac and cheese?) I have seen several people make comments about hot chocolate. I checked out the "no sugar added" hot chocolate in our pantry last night and it still seemed to have a lot of carbs and fat. Does anybody have any suggestions of favorite brands?
  11. That sounds yummy! I wonder how Pho would taste with zoodles?

    Nut Requirements

I have Aetna and I have to meet with the nutritionist and trainer monthly. Luckily, my surgeon's office has them on staff! Last appointment is Nov 11. Hopefully, we can submit to insurance and get a surgery date after that!
  13. Zoodles are awesome! (They are noodles made from zucchini. My "I don't eat vegetables" husband even likes them. I make them with carrot noodles and it makes my whole family smile...just a little italian seasoning. I'm thinking they will be a go to for me after surgery!
  14. Take care! You are in our thoughts and prayers.

    UT - Salt Lake City

I'm in Salt Lake City and in my 90-day pre op phase. No date yet. Does anybody still look at this group?

    Isopure unflavored

Protein powders clump over 140 degrees. It should work fine if it's cooler than that.
  17. I am about half way through my 90-day pre-op medically supervised program. I have been trying out different Protein supplements because I'll have a two-week pre-surgery liquid/protein drink only diet. I have gotten samples from several companies and have just been trying them out. I needed to find things that are not over-the-top expensive as well as some I can get locally in case I run out. And I think I have a plan. First, of the bunches of different things I've tried, my absolute favorite is Opurity chicken Soup. Just plain YUM. (I hope I feel that way after surgery). I am also going to order Isopure whey Isolate unflavored powder from Amazon. Finally, last night I bought SixStar Whey Isolate Plus decadent chocolate locally. I mixed it this morning with a cup of unsweetened Almond Milk. It was actually very yummy (170 calories, 3g carbs, 31g protein, 4g fat). I am happy to have a plan! Even if my surgery gets delayed for some reason, I'm still going to use these protein supplements to start trying to lose some weight.
  18. I am a couple months out from surgery (not scheduled yet) but I am trying out different Protein drinks to see what is out there and what is palatable, at least for now. I've gotten some of the Isopure Zero Carbs (40g of protein!). The taste isn't too bad but i feel like they create a coating in my mouth. Any suggestions on how to lessen this feeling? Thanks!
  19. I am a type-2 diabetic, which is very much weight related for me. (In the past, my need for medications has fluctuated with my weight). I have good control using Lantus (long acting insulin) and Janumet. I've asked my PCP about how to handle my insulin during the pre-op diet and post op and he pretty much said that I'll have to monitor my blood sugar and adjust accordingly. Although I don't have a surgery date yet (it will hopefully be in December), I am trying to test things out and see how my blood sugar reacts to the Protein shakes, the all liquid diet, etc. Does anybody have any advice or experience in this area? Thanks
  20. My surgeon's office says only whey Isolate Protein, so no Premier Protein for me -- although I do like it! I'm still pre-op so I've been trying things out. So far, my favorite is the unjury chicken Soup. I like the Isolate Zero Carb also.
  21. Thank you so much! This is exactly the type of input I need!

    Today is the Day!

Congratulations and good luck, Grace. Our prayers and love our with you!
  23. My surgeon's office called me last week and told me that my blood work showed that my B12 levels are a little low and that I should start taking a sublingual supplement. The post surgery recommended dosage is 1000 mcg per week. Does anybody have any idea how much I should take pre-surgery. Apparently, 1000 mcg is a lot
