    What are yall eating

I'm four months out from surgery. BBQ is a no (too much sugar) although I do eat BBQd food without the sauce. I eat steak and most kinds of meat. (Don't like sushi). I can't eat pork loin -- for some reason, it's the only thing that makes me sick.

    Liquid diet

Same for me. 2 weeks (starting 23Dec!). I lost 10 pounds.
  3. I took off a week...and worked from home for three days before I went back to the office. My doctor said it was really up to me. (I had RNY)

    Vitamins

When was your surgery? It takes a few weeks for your body to recover -- just like it does from any surgery. I think it was at least 4 weeks for me -- and I recovered very quickly. It takes much longer for some people
  5. At four weeks, my dietician told me to add healthy fats -- nuts and avocados to help increase my calorie intake.
  6. Hi! What do your fasting levels run? How many carbs do you take in daily? Do you eat sugar at all? My fasting BS is usually between 120 and 130, which is a little high for a normal person but fabulous for me. (My A1C earlier this month was only 5.6) My carbs are usually between 25 and 40g per day. I eat no sugar at all.

    Weakness...

Try to relax. At this point, liquids are the most important thing. You have to stay hydrated. The rest of it will come with time. As far as the Vitamins, the really chalky ones are usually the Calcium citrate. I tried a half dozen different things before I got something I could handle. I use these: http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Light-Wellness-Calcium-Citrate/dp/B0127WS6H2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
  8. Being anxious is perfectly normal. You'll do great. Just cut yourself some slack after the surgery (don't expect to be running laps in a day or two!). Give your body time to heal and follow your doctors' instructions. We're all here cheering you on!
  9. I had been type 2 for almost 20 years when I had my RNY surgery. I was taking Lantus at night, which was eliminated before surgery. I was also taking Janumet twice a day. I decreased those until I was only taking 1 every other day. At 3 months post-op, my doctor took me off of everything. I still monitor my BS but haven't had any problems. It really is kind of a miracle.
  10. I follow a ketogenic diet and I'm never hungry. I track my Protein, limit my carbs to primarily vegetables and keep an eye on my fat. My NUT had me add avocados and nuts because I needed more calories and healthy fats. I'm only 3 months post-RNY but it has worked great so far.
  11. Everyone's taste is different but fried foods are a big no-no, just in terms of healthy items. I'm only three months out and I eat a lot of chicken but none of it is fried. Actually, I don't eat anything fried. I will eat baked, non-breaded chicken wings every now and then. I eat burgers -- but only the patty, no bun. A lot of places serve them in lettuce if you don't want a bun. The main thing is to follow your doctor's instructions...and log your food!
  12. I have a dilemma. I have lost 60+ pounds since my 1/6/16 surgery. I am thrilled to death! However, the weight loss hasn't been propotionate..I've lost more in my boobs/legs/hips than in my belly. I understand that everyone loses differently but I'm having a tough time finding jeans! Everything that fits around my belly is saggy in my butt! Any suggestions? Does anyone know a style or type of jeans that I might be able to try until my belly gets a little smaller? Thanks!

    Food related regrets...

Pork loin. Have tried twice and thrown up both times. But I haven't eaten any Pasta or rice or bread or anything sweet.

    Anesthesia...

The last thing I really remember was scooting over onto the operating table and the anesthesiologist saying something. The first thing I remember was trying to find the button on the bed to make it sit up more!

They are both adorable. And, as much as I love the style of the first one, I'd go with the black and white one!

Not sure why these comments bother me

People just don't think before they talk. Most of them are not trying to be hurtful..they just don't think. You are awesome and you look fabulous. keep up the good work and try not to let insensitive people get to you!

I could gnaw off my arm

    Hang in there. I went through exactly the same thing. On December 22, our sweet guy got sick and within a few hours was gone. It still doesn't seem real. And I started my liquid diet the next day. Just try to stay focused. And let yourself cry as much as you need to. {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}}

    Pain

Hang in there! I am a week post-op also. Just take one day at a time and it will improve a little every day.
  21. Are there any type 2 diabetics out there that were on January or metformin before surgery? Could you take it after surgery? The pills are huge!

    Here we go!

I'm on Day 13! I really haven't been hungry at all. I had one episode where my stomach growled and I just ate a little bit of sugar free Jello. Herbal tea and broth also help. It sounds weird but they are "comforting".
  23. I have used the unflavored powder in broth for my whole pre-op. as long as the temperature is below 140 degrees, it is fine. The same goes for the unjury chicken soup (which I love).
  24. I'm just about to complete day 11 of my 14 day pre op diet. The only part that has been difficult if the sheer boredom. The good part is the 11 pounds that I've lost! (Sorry. Just needed to whine a little)
  25. Thanks! I was just having a whiny moment. The next three days will fly by. We have plans today and tomorrow starts the work year, so it will all be good!
