Thanks Everyone,
I actually contacted another office that my surgeon works out of and they called the office I was working with and transferred all of my information over to where they are. I got a surgery date for December 11th and my pre-op appointment is Dec 4th. Im sooo excited. I learned a lot from all of you and glad that I didn't give up.

Getting approved is the important thing. I know how frustrating it can be to deal with staff that are unprofessional but don't let them get to you. Sometimes you have to be proactive. I don't know how you've resisted calling yourself. I would have been on the phone in a heartbeat. Congrats on your approval though. That's great news!
I have called them and called and called and called. The reason that I've gysotten my approval is because I called the insurance company. When I called the office to inform them that I had been approved no on answered and I left a voice mail . So the next day I receive a phone call from the receptionist not the insurance coordinator who I left the message for stating that they hadn't heard from the insurance company yet and it takes 30 working days for approval. Anyway I let her finished and then told her that I had in fact been approved and wanted to know if the information could be faxed over. At this point she is like oh my god it normally takes 20 days and blah blah blah. Really Lady? So anyway she gives me the fax info and says have them fax it and we will call you back to schedule you to see the doctor. Well they faxed it the same day and I've called and called and all I get is the voicemail. Finally today someone picks up which I believe is the receptionist and says oh Trish the insurance coordinator isn't in today and she will call you tomorrow to let you know if she got the fax........ WTF so now I am pissed because this faxed was sent a week ago tomorrow and I have heard nothing. This surgeon has more than one office so I'm hoping that the approval is ok for his other office because these people are terrible and I don't see how he gets paid any money with these two.

I was approve last week for surgery but for some reason Im not excited. I guess its because the office Im working with is so unprofessional. I love the surgeon but his receptionist and insurance coordinator don't do their jobs and its ridiculous. If I don't hear from them this week Im switching offices.

Has anyone had a problem with their surgeons office and switched to another one after approval?

I agree that it can get the best of you. I hadn't even gotten my approval yet and I'm was scared because I didnt want to make the decision to do something in which I may never wake up from but I've heard so many success story's. I also met someone at a baby shower two weeks ago and she happen to be talking to me about and suddenly she came out and said that she had gotten the band and how she had it fore two years and it was the best decision of her life. She looks fantastic and she was so proud of her decision and for me that was a sign from God that everything would be ok. I hope this has helped you in some way.

Thanks Bandista for saying that because I haven't gotten mine yet and somethings will scare you away from making the choice to move forward.

How long did it take to receive approval from insurance company for your band? I have BCBSIL PPO+. If anyone has that insurance and can help me get info that would be great

Does anyone know how long it takes to get approval for lap-band with BCBSIL PPO?
-
Thanks a lot. Just wanted to see how much I could possibly lose the first month.

Hi
Just want to know how many lbs did you lose the first month and how and what are you doing to keep them off?
-
Have you had your operation yet?
-
Oh ok. Wasn't sure if that was your situation. From what I went through that was the situation with me. Thanks for letting me know
-
Thank you!!

Which plan do you have? What surgeon are you using? The reason I ask is because I was told the same thing and ended up going to a differ physician and finding out my insurance did cover it. If the dietician isn't in network that is the reason why.

This question is for those who have BCBSIL PPO . How much of a deductible did you have to pay for your surgery ? How much was your deductible ? Was it met during pre-op?
-
I have BCBSIL PPO + and I had my first appointment with the surgeon today. I called to see how much of my deductible was met for the year and was told 2339 of the 4000. So my question to those who have a deductible is will the surgeon proceed with pre operative testing if your deductible hasn't been met just yet ?
