  1. I just can't get a break. I have been trying to get my first appt w/ the surgeon for 4 weeks now. I have done my homework, and attended the required seminar. I have gone to the Dr's for referral, but their referral person has been sitting on it forever! I have been bugging the Bariatric center every day to see if they have faxed it, YET, after the Dr's office insists they did- they had the wrong fax #. Then I called Bariatrics back, and the @#%$ Dr office had put the name of another Dr in another center in the state as being referred to!!! To top it all off, the only thing she sent was my insurance info- none of my records or items they needed- back to square one! I am just about to give up on this whole thing... Sorry to vent, I just can't believe it's taking so much just for the initial appointment!!! HELP!!!
  2. thanx- I just received a call from Dr's office- they faxed to correct dr this time- I called Bariatrics, they were taking it off the fax as we spoke- they will call me at work in the morning to set up appt- they need to review and make sure they have everything- will it make me more qualified for lapband if I have an elevated glucose and cholesterol for "fasting bloodwork" or are they just looking for my normal levels? Thanks for helping!

    I am really ticked!

Insurance may not cover a TT, but, if your excess skin is creating a medical problem, infection, irritation, etc, then some insurances will cover to have the excess skin removed. A TT will surgically tighten the muscles and skin, having the skin removed does just that- removes skin. Good luck!
  4. Hello all! I am just beginning on my journey as well. I have attended my first info seminar, I saw my PCP on friday, so the PCP referrall is in process for my Insurance. Monday I need to call the Bariatric center to schedule an appt with the surgeon. Then it's hurry up and wait. I have heard from others on this site stating anywhere from 4 weeks to 4 months from appt to surgery. I am 5'2" and 250#, and sick of it! I well keep everyone posted as to how quickly this thing goes... Good luck!

    MaineGeneral Bariatric Center

If you go to Me general's website, you can look at their calendar, or call the Bariatric center for a schedule. The schedule they handed out at a meeting the other night looks like there are 2 meetings a week, as well as 1 excersize class taught by Nate. Don't give up! Were you "reversed" or do you still have your band? You can still go for fills and try again! Me General and another Bariatric center in the area merged about 2 years ago. That may answer your questions as to why things arent as they were when you were banded. They also now refer Psyc evals out to K valley Psyc I think they said. Hope this helps

    MaineGeneral Bariatric Center

Hi! I'm from Maine and looking to get banded at Me General. I just attended my first info seminar, and have seen my PCP for referral to the Bariatric center. I will call Monday for my first appt w/ the surgeon. From what I've heard, it's approx. 4-6 months from first appt to banding. What pre op diet did you need to be on, and for how long? I've seen everything from 2 weeks pre op to no preop diet at all on this site. Good luck on your banding!
