I'm hoping for February! My case was just submitted to the insurance company yesterday. I can barely stand the anticipation!

It looks sooooo good! How secure is it on your head? Do you feel comfortable wearing it? I have two little kids and am afraid they'd pull mine off! haha

@@MzB - can you tell me what topper you went with? I already have noticeably thinning hair due to PCOS but it's pretty covered with some dark dry shampoo and Toppik. However, I know with the RNY shed, it's very likely that I'll need a topper. Any advice for this would be so appreciated Thank you!

I'm so hoping for an early February date too! My insurance coordinator turns in the package this week and she has said all along that early February is very likely. I'm so excited and impatient!! Best of luck to all of you!

@@Barbara Stuart how are you doing! My insurance coordinator is supposed to turn in my package this week and I'm really really hoping for a fast approval too! With the holidays and such, I just hope my insurance coordinator isn't delayed because she's super busy after vacation

All of my pre-cert requirements are complete! I did my last weigh-in yesterday! Now, I wait for insurance submission which will be around January 7th! I am so excited...not too much longer now!

Update: my sleep study diagnosis is that I do have moderate sleep apnea. Good: increase my chances of approval and allow my surgeon to perform a safer surgery Bad: I have sleep apnea...and I will most likely have a second sleep study. The tech said if I would have had 20 'episodes' (forget what he called them) by 2am, he would have put the CPAP mask on me. I only had about 15 by then and a total of 20-25 by the end of the study at 4:30am. He said my surgeon will probably want a second study conducted with the CPAP mask. If you haven't had a sleep study performed yet, it's kind of strange but I was able to sleep. I woke up a lot but that's pretty normal for me (and now I know it's because I have sleep apnea!). There are SO MANY wires. The biggest pain was going to the bathroom but I just had to unplug my box of wires and hang it around my neck...not too bad. The gunk/paste they use for the wires on your head is the worst.

Good news is that my h.pylori biopsy was NEGATIVE! WOOHOO! I had my last NUT webinar earlier last week and my sleep study was rescheduled for tonight!

I am so excited to run again - I have completed some 5ks, 8k, 10k, and a half marathon but had to stop due to the stress on my joints. Thanks for reminding me of another reason to be excited for this surgery!

My surgeon found a large hiatal hernia during my endoscopy so he wants to repair that during my RNY surgery. Will that mean my recovery will be much harder? Can anyone share what may make it harder or what part may be more difficult? Thank you!

Oh man, that must be so frustrating! It will be worth it and your surgery will be here before you know it! When are you anticipating your surgery? Mine probably won't be until early February. <3

I have my sleep study this Saturday! I'm looking forward to the results. I have always woke up many times in the night but always attributed it to having to use the bathroom. I'm ready to find out for sure! (And my bariatric coordinator is kind of hoping I have it to make approval easier...)

My last NUT webinar is Dec 1 and my sleep study is scheduled for Dec 3!! I just need my letter of referral from my PCP (going to ask for that this week in case it takes a while) and I think we will have everything for insurance. We can't submit until Jan 7 but that's okay I also need to call my surgeon because I haven't heard anything about the results from my endoscopy. My blood work tested positive for h.pylori so he said he'd do the biopsy but I haven't heard if that was positive too

I probably will not post about it on Facebook. Ever. I started a WLS-only instagram to connect with people that way. There are a few IRL friends on there who have either lost a lot of weight or are also going to have WLS. I told my parents, brother, sister, husband, and friends I have known online (due to weight loss blogs) for years. None of my friends who I see regularly know.
