Any February Surgery Dates...
RNYDawn replied to youngme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for this post! I pick up my CPAP today at the sleep center and my surgeon told me to bring it to the hospital so I must not forget! I bought the gas-x strips this week and have tons of chapstick. I need to get distilled water and the long charger cord for sure. Oooh and the adult liquid tylenol is a great great idea! Is there a chewable form of biotin? -
I go to the sleep center tomorrow to pick up my CPAP! They have been so wonderful to work with and really rushed my case so I could get the machine by Feb 3rd (two weeks prior to surgery). The hospital would have postponed my surgery without 2 weeks of prior CPAP use! I start my pre op diet in one week. I have 12 days of work left before I start my medical leave. (WHATTT!) I have three weeks until my surgery!

@@LifeWhichIsMine any recipes or ideas on casseroles? I feel like I should to the same for my husband LOL. Or perhaps just need a ton of slow cooker recipes. -
Yess! now that it's right around the corner it is kind of like a dream-phase and I'm sure it will be more surreal as I get closer and actually get to the hospital!

Question about recovery/care at home
RNYDawn replied to RNYDawn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks you guys. My dad takes pain medicine so he can't drive me or stay alone with the kids (he just doesn't have the energy) but I have some friends I think (hope?) would pick me up -
Hi everyone! My surgery date is set for 2/17. Unfortunately, one of my husband's Marine friends passed away and they (Marines) are meeting up for a memorial service three days after my surgery....two states away. My parents had already planned to come down to stay with us and help with our two kids (2 and 5 years old) so I think I'll be fine if he goes to the memorial service. If it were anything else, I know he wouldn't even think of going away, but considering the circumstances, I think he should go. The hospital where I'm having surgery is about an hour from me so I may have to find someone to pick me up and bring me home (since my parents will be with my kids) - but other than that, I think I'll be fine. He is hesitating to go to the memorial since it's likely that I'll still be in the hospital when he has to leave. Any thoughts on this? What would you do? Ask him to stay or encourage him to go?

That's awesome! Congrats!

Dr. Masoud Rezvani at Bluepoint Medical Associates (Virginia)
RNYDawn replied to RNYDawn's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
@@mrsmcm he has been wonderful. I have only seen him twice - once for my consult and once for my endoscopy. I see Dr. Halmi tomorrow and then I'll see Dr. Rezvani again right before my surgery. He is thorough and at my consult he really talked to me about the options for WLS. We discussed vs. just him telling me what he thought. I feel very comfortable with him. I would not have known I have sleep apnea if he wouldn't have required the sleep study. In which office are you seeing him? I always use the Lake Ridge office and I love it there. The receptionist, Kelly, is fantastic too. Please let me know if I can help in any way or if you have any questions after you meet with him! Good luck! -
great job!!!

Approvals with BCBS Federal
RNYDawn replied to rln52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! No, I was hoping for earlier and kind of begged (hehe) but Feb 17 was the earliest they could get me in. It works out because I have a follow up sleep study this weekend and have to get fitted for my CPAP. I also have to be on my CPAP for two weeks prior to surgery so the timing will work out I think. -
I was nervous too but if you meet the requirements and your coordinator was through then you should be just fine!!!! I was approved in five days.

My date is Feb 17! I was just approved late yesterday and my bariatric coordinator called this morning! -
Never mind, I just got the call from my coordinator that I was approved!! It was approved in five days! WOOOHOOO!
-
@@kellykazoo how long did your approval take? They have had my package for six days (including today) and I know they have 15 but I am going crazy! LOL

Thanks! Fingers crossed!

After a bit of hounding, my bariatric coordinator sent off my package to insurance yesterday! I am so anxious and excited and nervous and impatient! LOL Knowing that this is the defining moment of having surgery or not is making me a bit crazy! Hoping to be one of those with a quick approval (I have BCBS FEP) - my fingers are crossed!
