I am pre-op (surgery on Thursday) and right now I am so scared of the general anethesia during the surgery, I am almost in tears when I sit and dwell on it. I've had a C-Section, but it's not the same. I have every faith in the fact I'll be fine after surgery, it's just the getting there that's the hard part for me. I really hope that there will be some anxiety help for me on Thursday and I'm scared of looking like an irrational drama queen, but I just can't help it. :/
My main fears for after are regain and loose skin.
I have not had my gastric bypass yet....but....every procedure or surgery I have had they have given me something to relax me ( for anxiety) well before they brought me into the OR . If it's not a given routine I would just ask for some, it really helps . Good luck!

My fear is now that I had finished my 6 month work up, go back to surgeon on the 10 th to go over pre-op diet and how to administer shots, schedule the surgery, and turn in final paperwork to my insurance which is Molina , that the insurance will find something to say nope we will not approve you... And I feel I've come too far to not get it. I've lost 41 pounds in my own and haven't had a cigarette since June 22nd and gave up alcohol ... Fingers crossed and praying I get my final approval. I've had plenty of surgeries so going under a knife don't scare me, I do fine with all that.

My surgeon told me that he don't require any liquid diet or shake diet, he says not everyone can afford that. So he puts everyone on a very low calorie diet before hand of 1,000 calories or less a day for 2 weeks. Next time I see him I'll know more and get the diet plan. Right now I'm only at approx 1,100 to 1,200 calories so it shouldn't be a hard adjustment.

I just got diagnosed with severe sleep apnea as well... They say he had to turn up the air to 13 to open my airways and he was surprised at that... Not sure if that's a bad thing or not. I'm now waiting to get my machine as well. The sleep center let me take home my nose cup price but I'm thinking I need a mask as well for days I'm sick with stuffy nose or something. Not excited about this lol.

I did find some smaller containers....Rubbermaid little 0.5 cup cups with lids, freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. And I found snap ware by Pyrex these are glass and hold one cup worth with snap on lids. At Walmart I found two different sized ice cube trays to freeze broth and stuff they have silicone bottom so they are easy to pop out.

If you are fortunate enough to live near a Sonic, get a bag (or a few cups) of Sonic ice.
What's up with sonic ice? You got me curious lol I have one about 25 min away but never go.

Thanks for the responses , so far I have vanilla muscle milk powder, powder Peanut Butter, chocolate pre made premier drinks. Gave away my full size coffee pot and bought a keurig single serve maker. So I won't be drinking a pot of coffee only a cup. I do have some chicken and beef broth. Bought ice cube trays of different sizes lol so I can freeze the broth and grab what I need. I read that one somewhere and liked the idea. Guess maybe a couple more flavors , Jello and sugar free pop cycles and I should be good. I'm just overly excited I think , like I'll forget something important.

I am on my home stretch to get ready for surgery. It's getting overwhelming on what to stock up on. The more read the worse it is lol! I got so excited about vitamin patches, then my NUT said they don't absorb well through fat... So I finally got some Celebrate Vitamins. But what to stock up the cabinets with so I don't have to worry for the first few weeks. I'm wondering what was in your cupboard for food and what you actually ended up using the first few weeks?? Certain broths does it matter what kind? Since everything is sweet what all alternatives are there? Thanks in advance..

I'm on my last of my six months... My last work up appointment is the 18th the time went by pretty fast. Can't wait to get my date!

Mine is snowgirl2007@hotmail.com

I had to do 12 visits with each over 6 months hmmm

My surgeon told me when I hit my weight to keep on going, yet I'm stuck in a rut for over a month now, I have to lose about 7 pounds by the 18th, it sounds so easy but it just hasn't budged. The surgeons office told me when I finish all my 6 month work up appointments and meet my weight requirement to call back to get scheduled one last time before surgery. The 18th is my last of the work up appointments! I want to do the happy dance but until i'm at weight I cant...

Yay I have Molina wa as well, this month I will be done with 6 months of visits. My surgeon also had me do a endoscopy, upper GI, and a sleep study as well. I'm getting excited to finish up. After the 18th I will make my appointment with surgeon again to hopefully make the date!

I brush a few times a day already so I guess I will purchase a breath spray or something for first few weeks ???????? just in case. I still have approximately 2 months before surgery ( if all goes as plan, fingers crossed)

Ok weird question I know.... When low carb and in ketosis bad breath can occur.... Not brushing teeth and tongue bad breath happens, plus sore stomach.... After surgery and you no long produce the bile in your new pouch I'm curious if it makes a impact on breath? I hope I worded this all right ????

Mine will be 2 weeks of 1,000 calories

I haven't posted a lot , but when I read it has the feeling of everyone sitting around talking asking questions and giving answers ( like we are all sitting together in person ) I think sometimes asking a question just hits at that moment and they ask.... I mean my neighbor had a gastric bypass last week and she let me go over and pick her brain and I didn't stop to search engine we just talked. I'm very excited that I'm getting the opportunity for the gastric bypass and I actually love reading as much as possible..... The same questions even lol that way they are getting drilled into my head lol anyway not ranting just my 2 little cents! Have a wonderful week all????????

No it isn't the easy way out! I'm half way through my six months of all the insurance requirements . Just met my surgeon Friday , all the work that must be done to make it work before and after definitely isn't easy!
