  1. I received a denial of my appeal to my insurance company for sleeve surgery because I was unable to provide medical documentation of a bmi above 35 for 2 years. This is even though I do have documentation that places me above bmi 35 for two years as of April 2016. So, I will likely plan to have the surgery in May. I can't believe how petty my insurance company is.
  2. Glad to hear surgery went well! How are you feeling? Are you up and about? Good luck! Keep us posted!
  3. Good luck tomorrow! My thoughts will be with you!
  4. I'm sorry to hear you had bp issues, sounds like they are resolving. Glad to hear you are doing well overall!
  5. May I ask why they denied you & how far into the process you got? Sure! Basically my insurance requires two years documented weight at BMI 35 or above. My only weight from my Primary Care doc two years ago was slightly below 35 BMI. This is why I was denied. I am appealing on the basis that my primary care doc had my height taller than is accurate. At my true height, I would meet the BMI REQ. Nonetheless, by April 2016 I will have a primary care document that states that I am above 35. So, if they don't approve on my appeal now I will reinitiate my request for coverage of the surgery in April.
  6. Good luck to all who are having surgeries soon! Keep us posted on your recovery! Happy New Year all! I was declined by insurance and have an appeal in that I hope to hear back on next week.

  10. Blkbell, glad to hear you are recovering well! I hate the liquid diet thing. Did folks have to do a liquid diet prior to surgery? If so, for how long? I'm on this diet where I have to go 10 days liquid then 7 days low carb and back and forth then 10 days liquid before surgery. Is this common?

  15. Very sorry to hear you were denied! What insurance do you have? Did they say why they denied the procedure? Is there someone at the surgeon's office that deals with the insurance company? Was it missing information or is your BMI to low? Maybe call your insurance company & see why they denied. Can you file an appeal? Essentially my bmi in 2013 was below 35 and I need two years above 35. My surgeon's office is going to appeal this. I'm also going to call my insurance on Monday.
